LOVE THAT GOES THE DISTANCE		멀리까지 함께하는 사랑
[ Deuteronomy 11:13 - 11:21 ] - hymn 440 Teach [my commands] to your children. [ DEUTERONOMY 11:19 ] “We wave until they’re out of sight. It’s a way of showing that we love them.” Those words from my mother when I was a boy explained a habit she and my father had when a family member left our home after a visit. Mom and Dad stood outside and waved to the ones leaving until they disappeared in the distance. Sometimes they stood there for a long time, but that didn’t matter. When I left home myself, I understood why. Seeing them waving in the rearview mirror touched my heart, and I felt loved and cared for. I still say goodbye to our family visitors that way to show love for them. It’s a habit I hope my children will continue. Another way we can express love for our families is to com-municate God’s love shared in Scripture. As the Israelites prepared to cross the Jordan into the promised land, God taught them with these instructions for life: “Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (DEUTERONOMY 11:18-19). These are words that would one day find fulfillment in the perfect love of Jesus, who promised, “I am with you always” (MATTHEW 28:20). As we share His truth and kindness, we can trust that His love is able to overcome every distance. JAMES BANKS		[ 신명기 11:13 - 11:21 ] - 찬송가 440 장 [내 명령을] 너희의 자녀에게 가르치며 [신명기 11:19] “우리는 그들이 안 보일 때까지 손을 흔들어줘. 그들을 사랑한다는 우리 의 표현이지.” 내가 어렸을 때 어머니가 하신 말씀인데, 가족이 우리 집에 왔다가 떠날 때 부모님이 늘 보여 주시던 모습을 잘 설명해 주었습니다. 부모님은 밖에 나가 서서 떠나는 사람들이 멀리 사라질 때까지 손을 흔들었습니다. 어떤 때는 꽤 오래 서 계시기도 했는데도 부모님은 개의치 않으셨습니다. 나는 내가 집을 떠날 때가 되어서야 부모님이 왜 그렇게 하셨는지 알 수 있었습니다. 손을 흔드시는 부모님 모습을 차 안에서 백미러를 통해 보면서 마음이 뭉클해지면서 내가 부모님께 사랑받고 보살핌 받고 있다는 느낌을 받았습니다. 나는 지금도 가족들이 방문했을 때 그들에게 사랑을 표현하기 위해 그렇게 배웅합니다. 내 아이들도 이런 습관을 이어갔으면 좋겠습니다. 가족에 대한 사랑을 표현할 수 있는 또 다른 방법은 성경에 나타난 하나님의 사랑을 전하는 일입니다. 이스라엘 백성이 요단강을 건너 약속의 땅으로 들어갈 준비를 할 때, 하나님은 다음과 같은 삶의 지침을 가르쳐 주셨습니다. “너희는 나의 이 말을 너희의 마음과 뜻에 두고... 그것을 너희의 자녀에게 가르치며 집에 앉아 있을 때에든지, 길을 갈 때에든지, 누워 있을 때에든지, 일어날 때에든지 이 말씀을 강론하라”(신명기 11:18-19). 이 말씀은 “너희와 항상 함께 있으리라”(마태복음 28:20)고 약속하신 예수님의 완전한 사랑 안에서 언젠가 실현될 것입니다. 주님의 진리와 자비를 전할 때 우리는 아무리 먼 거리라도 주님의 사랑이 전해질 수 있다는 것을 믿을 수 있습니다.

Whom can you encourage with God’s wisdom and truth today?
In what ways will you show them His love?

Please help me, dear Father, to share Your love and truth with others today so they may believe and walk with You always.

13 So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul—

14 then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil.

15 I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied.

16 Be careful, or you will be enticed to turn away and worship other gods and bow down to them.

17 Then the Lord's anger will burn against you, and he will shut up the heavens so that it will not rain and the ground will yield no produce, and you will soon perish from the good land the Lord is giving you.

18 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.

19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

20 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates,

21 so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.

오늘 하나님의 지혜와 진리로 누구를 격려할 수 있을까요?
어떤 방법으로 그들에게 하나님의 사랑을 보여줄 수 있을까요?

사랑하는 하나님 아버지, 오늘 하나님의 사랑과 진리를 다른 사람들에게 전하여 그들이 항상 하나님을 믿고 동행할 수 있게 해주소서.

13 ○내가 오늘 너희에게 명하는 내 명령을 너희가 만일 청종하고 너희의 하나님 여호와를 사랑하여 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 섬기면

14 여호와께서 너희의 땅에 이른 비, 늦은 비를 적당한 때에 내리시리니 너희가 곡식과 포도주와 기름을 얻을 것이요

15 또 가축을 위하여 들에 풀이 나게 하시리니 네가 먹고 배부를 것이라

16 너희는 스스로 삼가라 두렵건대 마음에 미혹하여 돌이켜 다른 신들을 섬기며 그것에게 절하므로

17 여호와께서 너희에게 진노하사 하늘을 닫아 비를 내리지 아니하여 땅이 소산을 내지 않게 하시므로 너희가 여호와께서 주신 아름다운 땅에서 속히 멸망할까 하노라

18 ○이러므로 너희는 나의 이 말을 너희의 마음과 뜻에 두고 또 그것을 너희의 손목에 매어 기호를 삼고 너희 미간에 붙여 표를 삼으며

19 또 그것을 너희의 자녀에게 가르치며 집에 앉아 있을 때에든지, 길을 갈 때에든지, 누워 있을 때에든지, 일어날 때에든지 이 말씀을 강론하고

20 또 네 집 문설주와 바깥 문에 기록하라

21 그리하면 여호와께서 너희 조상들에게 주리라고 맹세하신 땅에서 너희의 날과 너희의 자녀의 날이 많아서 하늘이 땅을 덮는 날과 같으리라
