WHAT MY RENTAL CAR TAUGHT ME		렌트카를 타며 배운 것
[ 1 Corinthians 6:12 - 6:20 ] - hymn 218 You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. [ 1 CORINTHIANS 6:19-20 ] I recently traveled to Los Angeles and had to rent a car. Soon, I was driving through narrow downtown lanes, full of traffic and people. I found myself driving very carefully, slower than normal. Why? Well, I didn’t want to have an accident. But I really didn’t want to damage my rental car. It wasn’t mine, after all. I was just, well, borrowing it. Most of the time, we’d rather be owners than renters. But as I drove, I couldn’t help but think that renting that car illustrated something important about my relationship to God. Scripture teaches that even our bodies—which we might think we own—don’t belong to us. In a larger conversation about sexual sin in 1 Corinthians 6, Paul concludes, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies” (VV. 19-20). I’ll admit, it’s hard to completely comprehend that my body isn’t my own. Still, God calls us to honor Him with it. To care for our bodies. To realize that we’re stewards—renters, if you will—of these vessels He’s given us, that we might use them to honor and serve the one whose own broken body and blood saves us. ADAM R. HOLZ		[ 고린도전서 6:12 - 6:20 ] - 찬송가 218 장 너희는 너희 자신의 것이 아니라 값으로 산 것이 되었으니 그런즉 너희 몸으로 하나님께 영광을 돌리라 [고린도전서 6:19-20] 얼마전 로스앤젤레스를 여행하며 차를 렌트해야 했습니다. 얼마 안 가서 교통 체증에다 사람이 붐비는 도심의 좁은 길을 운전하게 되었습니다. 나는 평소보다 속도를 줄여 ‘매우’ 조심하며 운전했습니다. 사고가 나는 것도 싫었지만 무엇보다 빌린 차를 손상하고 싶지 않았기 때문입니다. 어쨌든 그 차는 내 차가 아니었고, 단지 빌려 쓰고 있을 뿐이었습니다. 사람들은 대부분 빌려 쓰기보다 자기 것을 갖기를 선호합니다. 그런데 나는 운전을 하다가 그 차를 빌려 쓰면서 하나님과 나와의 관계에 있어 중요한 의미를 깨닫게 되었다는 생각이 들었습니다. 성경은 우리가 당연히 우리 것으로 여기는 몸 마저도 사실은 우리의 것이 아니라고 가르칩니다. 고린도전서 6장에서 바울은 성적인 죄에 대해 길게 설명하면서, “너희 몸은 너희가 하나님께로부터 받은 바 너희 가운데 계신 성령의 전인 줄을 알지 못하느냐 너희는 너희 자신의 것이 아니라 값으로 산 것이 되었으니 그런즉 너희 몸으로 하나님께 영광을 돌리라”(19–20절)고 결론을 내립니다. 내 몸이 내 것이 아니라는 것을 완전히 이해하기는 사실 쉽지 않습니다. 그러나 하나님은 몸으로 하나님께 영광을 돌리라고, 우리의 몸을 돌보라고 우리에게 요구하십니다. 그리고 우리는 하나님이 맡기신 몸을 관리하는 자, 곧 빌려서 쓰는 자임을 알라고 하십니다. 그래서 우리를 구하시려 몸과 피를 내어 주신 주님을 영화롭게 하고 섬기는데 우리의 몸을 사용하라고 하십니다.

Dear Father, thank You for the amazing gift of my body.
Please help me to honor You by using it to love and serve others today.

12 “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.

13 You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

14 By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.

15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!

16 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”

17 But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.

18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.

19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

하나님이 우리의 몸으로 그분을 영화롭게 하기를 원하신다는 것에 대해 어떻게 반응하시겠습니까?
이 사실이 당신의 삶을 어떻게 변화시킬 수 있을까요?

사랑하는 하나님 아버지, 제 몸을 놀라운 선물로 주셔서 감사합니다.
오늘 이 몸을 가지고 남을 사랑하고 섬김으로 하나님을 영화롭게 하게 하소서.

12 ○모든 것이 내게 가하나 다 유익한 것이 아니요 모든 것이 내게 가하나 내가 무엇에든지 얽매이지 아니하리라

13 음식은 배를 위하여 있고 배는 음식을 위하여 있으나 하나님은 이것 저것을 다 폐하시리라 몸은 음란을 위하여 있지 않고 오직 주를 위하여 있으며 주는 몸을 위하여 계시느니라

14 하나님이 주를 다시 살리셨고 또한 그의 권능으로 우리를 다시 살리시리라

15 너희 몸이 그리스도의 지체인 줄을 알지 못하느냐 내가 그리스도의 지체를 가지고 창녀의 지체를 만들겠느냐 결코 그럴 수 없느니라

16 창녀와 합하는 자는 그와 한 몸인 줄을 알지 못하느냐 일렀으되 둘이 한 육체가 된다 하셨나니

17 주와 합하는 자는 한 영이니라

18 음행을 피하라 사람이 범하는 죄마다 몸 밖에 있거니와 음행하는 자는 자기 몸에 죄를 범하느니라

19 너희 몸은 너희가 하나님께로부터 받은 바 너희 가운데 계신 성령의 전인 줄을 알지 못하느냐 너희는 너희 자신의 것이 아니라

20 값으로 산 것이 되었으니 그런즉 너희 몸으로 하나님께 영광을 돌리라
