FREEDOM IN GOD’S LOVE		하나님의 사랑 안에 있는 자유
[ 1 John 1:5 - 2:10 ] - hymn 37 If we confess our sins, he . . . will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. [ 1 JOHN 1:9 ] If you’ve ever heard the expression “albatross around my neck”—a phrase referring to a tiresome burden—you’ve heard an allusion to English poet Samuel Coleridge’s famous poem “Rime of the Ancient Mariner.” In the poem, a sailor shoots and kills a harmless, friendly albatross. The crew believes the mariner’s cruel deed curses their voyage and forces him to wear the dead bird around his neck as punishment. Are there regrets in your life that feel like a heavy weight around your neck? All of us have moments we’d do anything to take back. It can feel like we’re cursed to carry the weight of our guilt and regret forever. Yet God’s grace can free our hearts from even the most pain-ful regret. We all have sin (1 JOHN 1:8, 10), but when we honestly confess our burdens to God, we’re promised he “will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (V. 9). As His grace rushes in, His light and love can flow through us (2:10), freeing us to love those around us (3:14). In Coleridge’s poem, the tormented mariner also eventually experiences this grace. When love for God’s creation rushes into his heart and compels him to pray, the albatross falls off his neck, vanishing forever “like lead into the sea.” MONICA LA ROSE		[ 요한1서 1:5 - 2:10 ] - 찬송가 37 장 만일 우리가 우리 죄를 자백하면 그는... 우리 죄를 사하시며 우리를 모든 불의에서 깨끗하게 하실 것이요 [요한1서 1:9] 힘겨운 짐을 뜻하는 “목에 두른 알바트로스 새”라는 표현은 영국의 시인 새뮤얼 콜리지의 유명한 시 “옛적 어느 뱃사람의 노래”에서 가져온 표현입니다. 이 시에서는 한 선원이 무해하고 친근한 알바트로스 새를 총으로 쏴 죽입니다. 선원들은 그 사람의 잔인한 행위가 항해에 액운을 불러왔다고 믿고, 그 벌로 죽은 새를 그의 목에 걸고 다니게 합니다. 당신의 삶에도 이렇게 목에 걸린 무거운 짐같이 후회되는 일이 있습니까? 우리 모두에게는 어떻게 해서든 되돌리고 싶은 일들이 있습니다. 그런 일들은 우리에게 무거운 죄책감과 후회되는 마음을 영원히 지고 가야하는 저주처럼 느껴질 수 있습니다. 그러나 아무리 아프고 후회되는 일이라도 우리 마음은 하나님의 은혜로 자유롭게 될 수 있습니다. 누구에게나 죄가 있지만(요한1서 1:8, 10) 우리의 짐을 정직하게 하나님께 고백하면 우리는 “우리 죄를 사하시며 우리를 모든 불의에서 깨끗하게 하실 것”이라는 약속을 받았습니다(9절). 하나님의 은혜가 충만하면 그 빛과 사랑이 우리를 통해 흘러가고(2:10) 우리 주변 사람들을 마음껏 사랑하게 하십니다(3:14). 콜리지의 시에서 고통받던 그 뱃사람도 결국은 이 은혜를 경험합니다. 피조물을 향한 하나님의 사랑이 그의 마음에 밀려와 기도하게 하자, 알바트로스는 그의 목에서 떨어져나가 “납덩이가 물속으로 가라앉듯” 영원히 사라졌습니다.

5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

7 Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard.

8 Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.

9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness.

10 Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble.

오늘 주님의 사랑 안에서 자유를 얻게 하소서.

5 ○우리가 그에게서 듣고 너희에게 전하는 소식은 이것이니 곧 하나님은 빛이시라 그에게는 어둠이 조금도 없으시다는 것이니라

6 만일 우리가 하나님과 사귐이 있다 하고 어둠에 행하면 거짓말을 하고 진리를 행하지 아니함이거니와

7 그가 빛 가운데 계신 것 같이 우리도 빛 가운데 행하면 우리가 서로 사귐이 있고 그 아들 예수의 피가 우리를 모든 죄에서 깨끗하게 하실 것이요

8 만일 우리가 죄가 없다고 말하면 스스로 속이고 또 진리가 우리 속에 있지 아니할 것이요

9 만일 우리가 우리 죄를 자백하면 그는 미쁘시고 의로우사 우리 죄를 사하시며 우리를 모든 불의에서 깨끗하게 하실 것이요

7 ○사랑하는 자들아 내가 새 계명을 너희에게 쓰는 것이 아니라 너희가 처음부터 가진 옛 계명이니 이 옛 계명은 너희가 들은 바 말씀이거니와

8 다시 내가 너희에게 새 계명을 쓰노니 그에게와 너희에게도 참된 것이라 이는 어둠이 지나가고 참빛이 벌써 비침이니라

9 빛 가운데 있다 하면서 그 형제를 미워하는 자는 지금까지 어둠에 있는 자요

10 그의 형제를 사랑하는 자는 빛 가운데 거하여 자기 속에 거리낌이 없으나
