COMFORT OF GOD		하나님이 주시는 위로
[ 2 Corinthians 1:3 - 1:11 ] - hymn 291 The God of all comfort . . . comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort [others]. [ 2 CORINTHIANS 1:3-4 ] I couldn’t wait. My husband and I had just returned from the grocery store; and as we unloaded the groceries, I frantically searched—but couldn’t find the donut bag. Then I checked the receipt. No donuts. Frustrated, I cried out, “All I wanted from the store was a donut!” Fifteen minutes later, my husband handed me a bag of donuts. He’d braved the snow again and snuck out to buy them. After squeezing him tightly, I sheepishly said, “I’m glad you didn’t get into an accident just to appease my craving!” I don’t usually get that worked up about a donut! But it had been an emotionally draining week, and so I sought solace in a donut—and I experienced a much deeper joy through the love and compassion of my husband. The kind of comfort we may get from satisfying our cravings is always short-lived. As the apostle Paul shared with the Corinthians, true—and lasting—comfort comes from the “God of all comfort” (2 CORINTHIANS 1:3). Paul understood his readers’ deep struggles and needs. Like them he faced daily trials, including persecution for his faith. And because God had comforted him, he was able to comfort them (V. 4). When we’re hurting, we can turn to Jesus, who abounds in compassion and comfort (V. 5). There we find solace. And when we’ve experienced His comfort, we can extend it to others. [다른 사람들을] 능히 위로하게 하시는 이시로다 [고린도후서 1:3-4] 나는 도저히 기다릴 수 없었습니다. 남편과 함께 방금 장을 보고 돌아온 나는 짐을 풀면서 이리저리 마구 뒤져 보았지만 도넛 봉지를 찾을 수가 없었습니다. 영수증을 확인해 봤더니 거기에 도넛이 없었습니다. 너무 실망이 되어 나는 소리쳤습니다. “내가 가게에서 진짜 원했던 건 도넛이었는데!” 15분쯤 지나 남편이 도넛 봉지를 내게 건네 주었습니다. 눈길을 뚫고 다시 차를 몰아 도넛을 사 온 것입니다. 나는 남편을 꽉 안아주며 멋쩍게 말했습니다. “나 먹고 싶은 것 사오느라 사고라도 났으면 어쩌려고 그랬어요!” 나는 평소에는 도넛 하나에 그렇게 감정적으로 반응하지 않습니다. 하지만 그 주는 감정적으로 너무 힘든 주였기에 도넛으로 위안을 얻으려 했던 것입니다. 그러나 결국은 남편의 사랑과 배려를 통해 훨씬 더 깊은 기쁨을 경험하게 되었습니다. 우리의 욕구를 충족시키는 것에서 오는 위로는 언제나 일시적입니다. 바울 사도는 고린도 교인들에게 참되고 오래 지속되는 위로는 바로 “모든 위로의 하나님”(고린도후서 1:3)께로부터 온다고 말했습니다. 바울은 편지를 읽는 이들이 겪는 깊은 고통과 시련을 이해하고 있었습니다. 그들처럼 바울도 그의 믿음 때문에 매일 고난을 겪으며 박해를 받았습니다. 하지만 하나님께서 그를 위로해 주셨기에 그도 그들을 위로할 수 있었습니다 (4절). 우리가 고통 중에 있을 때, 우리는 긍휼과 위로가 풍성하신 예수님(5절) 께 나아가 위안을 얻을 수 있습니다. 그리고 주님이 주신 위로를 경험하게 되면 우리는 다른 사람들에게도 그 위로를 나누어 줄 수 있습니다.

God of all comfort, thank You for giving me solace, and please help me to share it with others.

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,

4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.

6 If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.

7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

8 We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself.

9 Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

10 He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us,

11 as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

당신은 언제, 어떻게 하나님의 위로를 경험해 보셨습니까?
같은 고난을 겪고 있는 이들을 어떻게 위로할 수 있을까요?

모든 위로의 하나님, 저를 위로해 주셔서 감사합니다.
그 위로를 다른 이들에게 나누어 줄 수 있도록 도와주소서.

3 찬송하리로다 그는 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님이시요 자비의 아버지시요 모든 위로의 하나님이시며

4 우리의 모든 환난 중에서 우리를 위로하사 우리로 하여금 하나님께 받는 위로로써 모든 환난 중에 있는 자들을 능히 위로하게 하시는 이시로다

5 그리스도의 고난이 우리에게 넘친 것 같이 우리가 받는 위로도 그리스도로 말미암아 넘치는도다

6 우리가 환난 당하는 것도 너희가 위로와 구원을 받게 하려는 것이요 우리가 위로를 받는 것도 너희가 위로를 받게 하려는 것이니 이 위로가 너희 속에 역사하여 우리가 받는 것 같은 고난을 너희도 견디게 하느니라

7 너희를 위한 우리의 소망이 견고함은 너희가 고난에 참여하는 자가 된 것 같이 위로에도 그러할 줄을 앎이라

8 형제들아 우리가 아시아에서 당한 환난을 너희가 모르기를 원하지 아니하노니 힘에 겹도록 심한 고난을 당하여 살 소망까지 끊어지고

9 우리는 우리 자신이 사형 선고를 받은 줄 알았으니 이는 우리로 자기를 의지하지 말고 오직 죽은 자를 다시 살리시는 하나님만 의지하게 하심이라

10 그가 이같이 큰 사망에서 우리를 건지셨고 또 건지실 것이며 이 후에도 건지시기를 그에게 바라노라

11 너희도 우리를 위하여 간구함으로 도우라 이는 우리가 많은 사람의 기도로 얻은 은사로 말미암아 많은 사람이 우리를 위하여 감사하게 하려 함이라
