1Why, O LORD, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? 2 In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised. 3 For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the LORD. 4 In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.” 5 His ways prosper at all times; your judgments are on high, out of his sight; as for all his foes, he puffs at them. 6 He says in his heart, “I shall not be moved; throughout all generations I shall not meet adversity.” 7 His mouth is filled with cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue are mischief and iniquity. 8 He sits in ambush in the villages; in hiding places he murders the innocent. His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless; 9 he lurks in ambush like a lion in his thicket; he lurks that he may seize the poor; he seizes the poor when he draws him into his net. 10 The helpless are crushed, sink down, and fall by his might. 11 He says in his heart, “God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it.” 12 Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up your hand; forget not the afflicted. 13 Why does the wicked renounce God and say in his heart, “You will not call to account”? 14 But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands; to you the helpless commits himself; you have been the helper of the fatherless. 15 Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call his wickedness to account till you find none. 16 The LORD is king forever and ever; the nations perish from his land. 17 O LORD, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear 18 to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more.
1주님, 어찌하여 주님께서는 그리도 멀리 계십니까? 어찌하여 우리가 고난을 받을 때에 숨어 계십니까? 2 악인이 으스대며 약한 자를 괴롭힙니다. 악인은 스스로 쳐 놓은 올가미에 스스로 걸려들게 해주십시오. 3 악한 자는 자기 야심을 자랑하고, 탐욕을 부리는 자는 주님을 모독하고 멸시합니다. 4 악인은 그 얼굴도 뻔뻔스럽게 “벌주는 이가 어디에 있느냐? 하나님이 어디에 있느냐?”고 말합니다. 그들의 생각이란 늘 이러합니다. 5 그런데도 악인이 하는 일은 언제나 잘 되고, 주님의 심판은 너무 멀어서 그들에게 보이지 않으니, 악인은 오히려 그의 대적을 보고 코웃음만 칩니다. 6 그는 마음속으로, “내가 망하는가, 두고 봐라. 나에게는 언제라도 불행과 저주란 없다” 하고 말합니다. 7 그들의 입은 기만과 폭언으로 가득 차 있고, 그들의 혀 밑에는 욕설과 악담이 가득합니다. 8 그들은 으슥한 길목에 숨어 있다가 은밀한 곳에서 순진한 사람을 쳐 죽입니다. 그들의 두 눈은 언제나 가련한 사람을 노립니다. 9 굴속에 웅크리고 있는 사자처럼, 은밀한 곳에서 기다리다가, 때만 만나면, 연약한 사람을 그물로 덮쳐서 끌고 갑니다. 10 불쌍한 사람이 억눌림을 당하고, 가련한 사람이 폭력에 쓰러집니다. 11 악인은 마음속으로 이르기를 “하나님은 모든 것에 관심이 없으며, 얼굴도 돌렸으니, 영원히 보지 않으실 것이다” 합니다. 12 주님, 일어나십시오. 하나님, 손을 들어 악인을 벌하여 주십시오. 고난받는 사람을 잊지 말아 주십시오. 13 어찌하여 악인이 하나님을 경멸하고, 마음속으로 “하나님은 벌을 주지 않는다” 하고 말하게 내버려 두십니까? 14 주님께서는 학대하는 자의 포악함과 학대받는 자의 억울함을 살피시고 손수 갚아 주려 하시니 가련한 사람이 주님께 의지합니다. 주님께서는 일찍부터 고아를 도우시는 분이셨습니다. 15 악하고 못된 자의 팔을 꺾어 주십시오. 그 악함을 샅샅이 살펴 벌하여 주십시오. 16 주님은 영원무궁토록 왕이십니다. 이방 나라들은 주님의 땅에서 사라질 것입니다. 17 주님, 주님께서는 불쌍한 사람의 소원을 들어주십니다. 그들의 마음을 굳게 하여 주시고, 그들의 부르짖음에 귀 기울여 주십니다. 18 고아와 억눌린 사람을 변호하여 주시고, 다시는 이 땅에 억압하는 자가 없게 하십니다.
