[ Psalms 5:1 - 5:12 ] (Hymn182)

To the choirmaster: for the flutes. A Psalm of David.
1 Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning.
2 Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray.
3 O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.
4 For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you.
5 The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers.
6 You destroy those who speak lies; the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
7 But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.
8 Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.
9 For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue.
10 Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you.
11 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you.
12 For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield.

1주님, 나의 기도에 귀를 기울여 주십시오. 나의 신음 소리를 들어주십시오.
2 나의 탄식 소리를 귀 담아 들어 주십시오. 나의 임금님, 나의 하나님, 내가 주님께 기도드립니다.
3 주님, 새벽에 드리는 나의 기도를 들어 주십시오. 새벽에 내가 주님께 나의 사정을 아뢰고 주님의 뜻을 기다리겠습니다.
4 주님께서는 죄악을 좋아하시는 하나님이 아니십니다. 악인은 주님과 어울릴 수 없습니다.
5 교만한 자들 또한 감히 주님 앞에 나설 수 없습니다. 주님께서는 악한 일을 저지르는 자들을 누구든지 미워하시고,
6 거짓말쟁이들을 멸망시키시고, 싸움쟁이들과 사기꾼들을 몹시도 싫어하십니다.
7 그러나 나는 주님의 크신 은혜를 힘입어 주님의 집으로 나아갑니다. 경외하는 마음으로 주님의 성전 바라보며, 주님께 꿇어 엎드립니다.
8 주님, 나를 대적하는 원수를 보시고, 주님의 공의로 나를 인도하여 주십시오. 내 앞에 주님의 길을 환히 열어 주십시오.
9 그들의 입은 믿을 만한 말을 담는 법이 없고, 마음에는 악한 생각뿐입니다. 그들의 목구멍은 열린 무덤 같고, 혀는 언제나 아첨만 일삼습니다.
10 하나님, 그들을 정죄하셔서 제 꾀에 빠지게 하시고, 그들이 저지른 많고 많은 허물을 보시고, 그들을 주님 앞에서 쫓아내십시오. 그들은 주님을 거역하는 자들입니다.
11 그러나 주님께로 피신하는 사람은 누구나 기뻐하고, 길이길이 즐거워할 것입니다. 주님을 사랑하는 사람들이 주님 앞에서 기쁨을 누리도록, 주님께서 그들을 지켜 주실 것입니다.
12 주님, 주님께서는 바르게 살아가는 사람에게 복을 베풀어 주시고, 큼직한 방패처럼, 그들을 은혜로 지켜 주십니다.

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding
In the early morning, the poet went to God’s temple groaning; he prayed to God and sought God’s will. He confessed that God despised evil and arrogance, so the wicked and boastful could not stand before him. But the poet went humbly before God, relying on God’s grace, and sought God’s path and righteousness even in the midst of his enemies. He also pleaded for God to destroy the wicked and expressed his conviction that the Lord bestowed joy and protection on those who sought refuge in him.
이른 새벽, 시인은 신음하며 성전으로 나아가 하나님께 기도하고 그분의 뜻을 구합니다. 하나님은 악과 교만을 미워하시기에 그런 자들은 하나님 앞에 설 수 없습니다. 그러나 시인은 하나님의 은혜를 의지해 겸손히 나아가며, 원수들 가운데서 하나님의 길과 공의를 구합니다. 또한 악인을 물리쳐 달라고 간구하며, 하나님께 피하는 자에게는 기쁨과 보호가 주어짐을 확신합니다.

Who is God?
Vv. 4-6 The wicked cannot dwell in the Lord. If anyone who goes in and out of the temple without departing from evil, the Lord will regard their worship, contributions, and prayers as an abomination and destroy them. Seeking to give worship while harbouring deceitful and greedy hearts is the same as worshipping a dead god. Worship without a changed heart is just another form of idol worship.
악은 주와 함께 머물 수 없습니다. 악에서 떠나지 않은 채 몸만 성전을 오가는 자들이 있다면, 주님은 그들의 예배와 예물, 기도를 가증하게 여기고 물리치실 것입니다. 거짓과 탐욕의 마음으로 예배의 자리를 찾는 것은 하나님을 죽은 신처럼 만드는 일입니다. 내가 변하지 않는 예배는 또 다른 우상숭배가 될 뿐입니다.

What lesson is God teaching me?
V. 7 The proper response to God’s grace is reverence and humility. So, the poet went before God with a fearful heart and humbly bowed before him. Someone who fears God understands his mightiness, and someone who is humble understands how lowly they are. If we are lacking fear and humility, it could be a sign that we have forgotten God’s grace.
하나님의 은혜에 합당한 반응은 경외감과 겸손함을 갖는 것입니다. 그래서 시인은 경외하며 하나님께 나아가 겸손히 꿇어 엎드렸습니다. 경외감은 하나님의 높음을 아는 자의 마음이고, 겸손함은 자신의 낮음을 아는 자의 마음입니다. 이 마음이 없다면 하나님의 은혜를 잊은 것인지도 모릅니다.

Lord, may I dwell in your house and walk down your path by your abundant benevolence.
