[ Psalms 6:1 - 6:10 ] (Hymn406)

To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments; according to The Sheminith. A Psalm of David.
1 O LORD, rebuke me not in your anger, nor discipline me in your wrath.
2 Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am languishing; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are troubled.
3 My soul also is greatly troubled. But you, O LORD—how long?
4 Turn, O LORD, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love.
5 For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who will give you praise?
6 I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears; I drench my couch with my weeping.
7 My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows weak because of all my foes.
8 Depart from me, all you workers of evil, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping.
9 The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled; they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment.

1주님, 분노하며 나를 책망하지 마십시오. 진노하며 나를 꾸짖지 마십시오.
2 주님, 내 기력이 쇠하였으니, 내게 은혜를 베풀어 주십시오. 내 뼈가 마디마다 떨립니다. 주님, 나를 고쳐 주십시오.
3 내 마음은 걷잡을 수 없이 떨립니다. 주님께서는 언제까지 지체하시렵니까?
4 돌아와 주십시오, 주님. 내 생명을 건져 주십시오. 주님의 자비로우심으로 나를 구원하여 주십시오.
5 죽어서는, 아무도 주님을 찬양하지 못합니다. 스올에서, 누가 주님께 감사할 수 있겠습니까?
6 나는 탄식만 하다가 지치고 말았습니다. 밤마다 짓는 눈물로 침상을 띄우며, 내 잠자리를 적십니다.
7 사무친 울화로, 내 눈은 시력까지 흐려지고, 대적들 등쌀에 하도 울어서 눈이 침침합니다.
8 악한 일을 하는 자들아, 모두 다 내게서 물러가거라. 주님께서 내 울부짖는 소리를 들어 주셨다.
9 주님께서 내 탄원을 들어 주셨다. 주님께서 내 기도를 받아 주셨다.
10 내 원수가 모두 수치를 당하고, 벌벌 떠는구나. 낙담하며, 황급히 물러가는구나.

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding
The poet was weak and ill, and his affliction was so severe that his bones were troubled; he felt as if he were being rebuked by God. So, he pleaded with God to be gracious and heal him. He appealed to God’s nature, saying that his suffering did not befit God or himself. His suffering was so extreme that his eyes were wasting away from crying in his bed every night. But the poet ended his prayer with faith that God had heard him and would destroy his enemies.
시인은 병으로 기력이 쇠하고 뼈가 떨릴 만큼 고통 속에 있으며, 하나님이 자신을 책망하시는 것처럼 느낍니다. 그래서 은혜를 베풀어 고쳐 달라고 하나님께 간구합니다. 자신의 고통이 하나님과 자신에게 어울리지 않음을 호소합니다. 침상에서 밤마다 눈물로 지내 시력을 잃을 정도입니다. 이제 기도를 마친 시인은 하나님이 기도를 들으셨고 원수들을 물리치실 것을 믿습니다.

What lesson is God teaching me?
Vv. 1-7 Our suffering is not always the result of sin, but it often is. So, when believers face suffering, we must use it as an opportunity to reflect on our relationship with God. Let’s make ourselves stand again before the Word and go before the Lord.
우리가 겪는 모든 고난이 반드시 죄의 결과는 아닙니다. 그럼에도 상당 부분은 우리 죄에서 비롯됩니다. 그래서 성도는 고난을 겪을 때 하나님과 자신의 관계를 다시 돌아보는 계기로 삼아야 합니다. 곤란 중에 있습니까? 우리 자신을 말씀 앞에 다시 서게 하고 주님 앞으로 나아가길 바랍니다.

Vv. 8-10 The poet’s lament turned into conviction. At the start of his prayer, the poet was shaking with fear (vv. 2-3). But God had heard his prayer and would keep hearing his prayers, and now the poet’s enemies would tremble with fear. When God hears us and returns to our side, our situation will be completely turned over.
탄식은 확신으로 바뀝니다. 처음 기도를 시작할 때 시인은 몹시 두려워 떨었지만(2-3절), 하나님이 그의 기도를 들으셨고, 앞으로도 들으실 것이기에 이제 시인의 원수들이 떨 것입니다. 하나님이 들으시면, 그분이 돌아오시면 우리 모든 상황은 역전될 것입니다.

Lord, help me to keep my faith even in the face of suffering.
