28 When she had said this, she went and called her sister Mary, saying in private, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.” 29 And when she heard it, she rose quickly and went to him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha had met him. 31 When the Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary rise quickly and go out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there. 32 Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” 33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. 34 And he said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus wept. 36 So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” 37 But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?”
28이렇게 말한 뒤에, 마르다는 가서, 그 자매 마리아를 불러서 가만히 말하였다. “선생님께서 와 계시는데, 너를 부르신다.” 29 이 말을 듣고, 마리아는 급히 일어나서 예수께로 갔다. 30 예수께서는 아직 동네에 들어가지 않으시고, 마르다가 예수를 맞이하던 곳에 그냥 계셨다. 31 집에서 마리아와 함께 있으면서 그를 위로해 주던 유대 사람들은, 마리아가 급히 일어나서 나가는 것을 보고, 무덤으로 가서 울려고 하는 것으로 생각하고, 그를 따라갔다. 32 마리아는 예수께서 계신 곳으로 와서, 예수님을 뵙고, 그 발 아래에 엎드려서 말하였다. “주님, 주님이 여기에 계셨더라면, 내 오라버니가 죽지 않았을 것입니다.” 33 예수께서는 마리아가 우는 것과, 함께 따라온 유대 사람들이 우는 것을 보시고, 마음이 비통하여 괴로워하셨다. 34 예수께서 그들에게 물으셨다. “그를 어디에 두었느냐?” 그들이 대답하였다. “주님, 와 보십시오.” 35 예수께서는 눈물을 흘리셨다. 36 그러자 유대 사람들은 “보시오, 그가 얼마나 나사로를 사랑하였는가!” 하고 말하였다. 37 그 가운데서 어떤 사람은 이렇게 말하였다. “눈먼 사람의 눈을 뜨게 하신 분이, 이 사람을 죽지 않게 하실 수 없었단 말이오?”
