19“The kings came, they fought; then fought the kings of Canaan, at Taanach, by the waters of Megiddo; they got no spoils of silver. 20 From heaven the stars fought, from their courses they fought against Sisera. 21 The torrent Kishon swept them away, the ancient torrent, the torrent Kishon. March on, my soul, with might! 22 “Then loud beat the horses’ hoofs with the galloping, galloping of his steeds. 23 “Curse Meroz, says the angel of the LORD, curse its inhabitants thoroughly, because they did not come to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty. 24 “Most blessed of women be Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, of tent-dwelling women most blessed. 25 He asked for water and she gave him milk; she brought him curds in a noble’s bowl. 26 She sent her hand to the tent peg and her right hand to the workmen’s mallet; she struck Sisera; she crushed his head; she shattered and pierced his temple. 27 Between her feet he sank, he fell, he lay still; between her feet he sank, he fell; where he sank, there he fell—dead. 28 “Out of the window she peered, the mother of Sisera wailed through the lattice: ‘Why is his chariot so long in coming? Why tarry the hoofbeats of his chariots?’ 29 Her wisest princesses answer, indeed, she answers herself, 30 ‘Have they not found and divided the spoil?— A womb or two for every man; spoil of dyed materials for Sisera, spoil of dyed materials embroidered, two pieces of dyed work embroidered for the neck as spoil?’ 31 “So may all your enemies perish, O LORD! But your friends be like the sun as he rises in his might.” And the land had rest for forty years.
19여러 왕들이 와서 싸움을 돋우었다. 가나안 왕들이 므깃도의 물 가 다아낙에서 싸움을 돋우었으나, 그들은 탈취물이나 은을 가져 가지 못하였다. 20 별들이 하늘에서 시스라와 싸웠고, 그 다니는 길에서 그와 싸웠다. 21 기손 강물이 그들을 휩쓸어 갔고, 옛 강 기손의 물결이 그들을 휩쓸어 갔다. 나의 영혼아! 너는 힘차게 진군하여라. 22 그 때에 말발굽 소리가 요란하였다. 군마가 달리는 소리, 그 달리는 말발굽 소리가 요란하였다. 23 “메로스를 저주하여라.” 주님의 천사가 말하였다. “그 안에 사는 주민들을 저주하고 저주하여라! 그들은 주님을 도우러 나오지 않았다. 주님을 돕지 않았다. 적의 용사들과 싸우러 나오지 않았다.” 24 겐 사람 헤벨의 아내 야엘은 어느 여인보다 더 복을 받을 것이다. 장막에 사는 어떤 여인보다도 더 복을 받을 것이다. 25 시스라가 물을 달라고 할 때에 야엘은 우유 곧 엉긴 우유를 귀한 그릇에 담아 주었다. 26 왼손에는 장막 말뚝을 쥐고, 오른손에는 대장장이의 망치를 쥐고, 시스라를 쳐서 머리를 깨부수고, 관자놀이를 꿰뚫어 버렸다. 27 시스라는 그의 발 앞에 고꾸라져서 쓰러진 채 누웠다. 그의 발 앞에 고꾸라지며 쓰러졌다. 고꾸라진 바로 그 자리에서 쓰러져서 죽고 말았다. 28 시스라의 어머니가 창문으로 내다보며, 창살 틈으로 내다보며 울부짖었다. “그의 병거가 왜 이렇게 더디 오는가? 그의 병거가 왜 이처럼 늦게 오는가?” 29 그의 시녀들 가운데서 가장 지혜로운 시녀들이 대답하였겠고, 시스라의 어머니도 그 말을 따라 이렇게 혼잣말로 말하였을 것이다. 30 “그들이 어찌 약탈물을 얻지 못하였으랴? 그것을 나누지 못하였으랴? 용사마다 한두 처녀를 차지하였을 것이다. 시스라가 약탈한 것은 채색한 옷감, 곧 수놓아 채색한 옷감이거나, 약탈한 사람의 목에 걸칠 수놓은 두 벌의 옷감일 것이다.” 31 주님, 주님의 원수들은 이처럼 모두 망하고, 주님을 사랑하는 사람들은 힘차게 떠오르는 해처럼 되게 하여 주십시오. 그 뒤로 그 땅에는 사십 년 동안 전쟁이 없이 평온하였다.
