35The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples, 36 and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” 37 The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. 38 Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, “What are you seeking?” And they said to him, “Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?” 39 He said to them, “Come and you will see.” So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour. 40 One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means Christ). 42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John. You shall be called Cephas” (which means Peter). 43 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” 46 Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” 48 Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” 49 Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” 50 Jesus answered him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” 51 And he said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
35다음 날 요한이 다시 자기 제자 두 사람과 같이 서 있다가, 36 예수께서 지나가시는 것을 보고서, “보아라, 하나님의 어린 양이다” 하고 말하였다. 37 그 두 제자는 요한이 하는 말을 듣고, 예수를 따라갔다. 38 예수께서 돌아서서, 그들이 따라오는 것을 보시고 물으셨다. “너희는 무엇을 찾고 있느냐?” 그들은 “랍비님, 어디에 묵고 계십니까?” 하고 말하였다. (‘랍비’는 ‘선생님’이라는 말이다.) 39 예수께서 그들에게 대답하셨다. “와서 보아라.” 그들이 따라가서, 예수께서 묵고 계시는 곳을 보고, 그 날을 그와 함께 지냈다. 때는 오후 네 시 쯤이었다. 40 요한의 말을 듣고 예수를 따라간 두 사람 가운데 한 사람은, 시몬 베드로와 형제간인 안드레였다. 41 이 사람은 먼저 자기 형 시몬을 만나서 말하였다. “우리가 메시아를 만났소.” (‘메시아’는 ‘그리스도’라는 말이다.) 42 그런 다음에 시몬을 예수께로 데리고 왔다. 예수께서 그를 보시고 말씀하셨다. “너는 요한의 아들 시몬이로구나. 앞으로는 너를 게바라고 부르겠다.” (‘게바’는 ‘베드로’ 곧 ‘바위’라는 말이다.) 43 다음 날 예수께서 갈릴리로 떠나려고 하셨다. 그 때에 빌립을 만나서 말씀하셨다. “나를 따라오너라.” 44 빌립은 벳새다 출신으로, 안드레와 베드로와 한 고향 사람이었다. 45 빌립이 나다나엘을 만나서 말하였다. “모세가 율법책에 기록하였고, 또 예언자들이 기록한 그분을 우리가 만났습니다. 그분은 나사렛 출신으로, 요셉의 아들 예수입니다.” 46 나다나엘이 그에게 말하였다. “나사렛에서 무슨 선한 것이 나올 수 있겠소?” 빌립이 그에게 말하였다. “와서 보시오.” 47 예수께서 나다나엘이 자기에게로 오는 것을 보시고, 그를 두고 말씀하셨다. “보아라, 저 사람이야말로 참으로 이스라엘 사람이다. 그에게는 거짓이 없다.” 48 나다나엘이 예수께 물었다. “어떻게 나를 아십니까?” 예수께서 대답하셨다. “빌립이 너를 부르기 전에, 네가 무화과나무 아래에 있는 것을 내가 보았다.” 49 나다나엘이 말하였다. “선생님, 선생님은 하나님의 아들이시요, 이스라엘의 왕이십니다.” 50 예수께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. “네가 무화과나무 아래 있을 때에 내가 너를 보았다고 해서 믿느냐? 이것보다 더 큰 일을 네가 볼 것이다.” 51 예수께서 그에게 또 말씀하셨다. “내가 진정으로 진정으로 너희에게 말한다. 너희는, 하늘이 열리고 하나님의 천사들이 인자 위에 오르락내리락하는 것을 보게 될 것이다.”
