[ Psalms 12:1 - 12:8 ] (Hymn546)

To the choirmaster: according to The Sheminith. A Psalm of David.
1 Save, O LORD, for the godly one is gone; for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man.
2 Everyone utters lies to his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.
3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that makes great boasts,
4 those who say, “With our tongue we will prevail, our lips are with us; who is master over us?”
5 “Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the LORD; “I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”
6 The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.
7 You, O LORD, will keep them; you will guard us from this generation forever.
8 On every side the wicked prowl, as vileness is exalted among the children of man.

1주님, 도와주십시오. 신실한 사람도 끊어지고, 진실한 사람도 사람 사는 세상에서 사라지고 있습니다.
2 사람들이 서로서로 거짓말을 해대며, 아첨하는 입술로 두 마음을 품고서 말합니다.
3 주님은, 간사한 모든 입술과 큰소리치는 모든 혀를 끊으실 것이다.
4 비록 그들이 말하기를 “혀는 우리의 힘, 입술은 우리의 재산, 누가 우리를 이기리요” 하여도,
5 주님은 말씀하신다. “가련한 사람이 짓밟히고, 가난한 사람이 부르짖으니, 이제 내가 일어나서 그들이 갈망하는 구원을 베풀겠다.”
6 주님의 말씀은 순결한 말씀, 도가니에서 단련한 은이요, 일곱 번 걸러 낸 순은이다.
7 주님, 주님께서 우리를 지켜 주십시오. 지금부터 영원까지, 우리를 지켜 주십시오.
8 주위에는 악인들이 우글거리고, 비열한 자들이 사람들 사이에서 높임을 받습니다.

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding
The poet lamented over how hard it was to find an honest person in a world full of deceit and hypocrisy, and he turned to God for help. People were using the power of their words to deceive and threaten others, inflicting great suffering on the weak. The poet trusted in God’s promise to save the afflicted since God’s words were pure and faithful, unlike the words of human beings. Although evil still prevails, the poet entrusts his life to God.
시인은 거짓과 위선이 가득한 사회 속에서 진실한 사람을 찾기 어려워 괴로워하며 하나님께 도움을 구합니다. 사람들은 말을 권력처럼 사용해 속이고 위협하며, 그로 인해 약한 자들이 더 큰 고통을 겪습니다. 하나님은 고통받는 자들을 구원하겠다고 약속하시고, 시인은 사람의 말과 달리 순수하고 신실한 하나님의 말씀을 신뢰합니다. 여전히 악이 득세하지만, 시인은 하나님께 자신의 삶을 맡깁니다.

Who is God?
V. 6 God’s words are pure, so we can trust in them. In this world, which is full of lies, it can be hard to discern between what is true and false and decide whose words to follow. When we listen to the pure Word of God, it leads us to the truth that we must believe in and follow.
하나님의 말씀은 순결합니다. 그래서 믿을 수 있습니다. 세상 한복판에 서 있으면 들리는 말이 온통 거짓된 말뿐이어서 무엇이 거짓이고 무엇이 참인지, 어떤 소리를 따라야 할지 헷갈립니다. 순결한 말씀에 귀 기울일 때, 우리는 믿고 따라갈 진리를 발견할 수 있습니다.

What lesson is God teaching me?
Vv. 1-5 We must restore honest and faithful speech. When our words are polluted by lies and distortions, we lose our trust in each other, and society becomes corrupted. The poet declared that the Lord’s refined words had the power to expose the people’s deceit and the vileness they exalted. Let’s pray for our words to convey the Lord’s truth so that we may become a voice for the poor and outcast who are oppressed by words of deceit.
정직하고 진실한 말을 회복해야 합니다. 말이 거짓과 왜곡으로 오염되면 서로 믿을 수 없게 되고, 결국 사회 건전성이 무너집니다. 시인은 이들의 허위와 추악한 현실을 폭로하는 힘이 단단하게 제련된 주님의 말씀에 있다고 선언합니다. 우리 입이 주님의 참된 말을 담아 낼 수 있기를, 그래서 거짓된 말들에 묻혀 버린 가난하고 소외된 사람들의 목소리가 될 수 있기를 기도합시다.

Lord, help me to listen to your pure words and speak honestly and sincerely.
