20Brothers, do not be children in your thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature. 21 In the Law it is written, “By people of strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners will I speak to this people, and even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord.” 22 Thus tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is a sign not for unbelievers but for believers. 23 If, therefore, the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds? 24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, 25 the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you. 26 What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. 27 If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. 28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. 30 If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. 33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, 34 the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. 35 If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. 36 Or was it from you that the word of God came? Or are you the only ones it has reached? 37 If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. 38 If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized. 39 So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But all things should be done decently and in order.
20형제자매 여러분, 생각하는 데는 아이가 되지 마십시오. 악에는 아이가 되고, 생각하는 데는 어른이 되십시오. 21 율법에 이렇게 기록되어 있습니다. 주님께서 말씀하시기를 “내가 방언을 하는 사람의 혀와 딴 나라 사람의 입술로 이 백성에게 말할지라도, 그들은 나의 말을 듣지 않을 것이다” 하셨습니다. 22 그러므로 방언은 신자들에게 주는 표징이 아니라 불신자들에게 주는 표징이고, 예언은 불신자들에게 주는 것이 아니라 신자들에게 주는 것입니다. 23 온 교회가 한 자리에 모여서 모두가 방언으로 말하고 있으면, 갓 믿기 시작한 사람이나 믿지 않는 사람이 들어와서 듣고, 여러분을 미쳤다고 하지 않겠습니까? 24 그러나 모두가 예언을 말하고 있으면, 갓 믿기 시작한 사람이나 믿지 않는 사람이 들어와서 듣고, 그 모두에게 질책을 받고 심판을 받아서, 25 그 마음속에 숨은 일이 드러나게 됩니다. 그래서 그는 엎드려서 하나님께 경배하면서 “참으로 하나님께서 여러분 가운데 계십니다” 하고 환히 말할 것입니다. 26 그러면 형제자매 여러분, 어떻게 해야 하겠습니까? 여러분이 함께 모이는 자리에는, 찬송하는 사람도 있고, 가르치는 사람도 있고, 하나님의 계시를 말하는 사람도 있고, 방언으로 말하는 사람도 있고, 통역하는 사람도 있습니다. 모든 일을 남에게 덕이 되게 하십시오. 27 누가 방언으로 말할 때에는, 둘 또는 많아야 셋이서 말하되, 차례로 말하고, 한 사람은 통역을 하십시오. 28 통역할 사람이 없거든, 교회에서는 침묵하고, 자기에게와 하나님께 말하십시오. 29 예언하는 사람은 둘이나 셋이서 말하고, 다른 이들은 그것을 분별하십시오. 30 그러나 앉아 있는 다른 사람에게 계시가 내리거든, 먼저 말하던 사람은 잠잠하십시오. 31 여러분은 모두 한 사람씩 한 사람씩 예언을 할 수 있습니다. 그래야 모두가 배우고, 권면을 받게 됩니다. 32 예언하는 사람의 영은 예언하는 사람에게 통제를 받습니다. 33 하나님은 무질서의 하나님이 아니라, 평화의 하나님이십니다. 성도들의 모든 교회에서 그렇게 하는 것과 같이, 34 여자들은 교회에서는 잠자코 있어야 합니다. 여자에게는 말하는 것이 허락되어 있지 않습니다. 율법에서도 말한 대로 여자들은 복종해야 합니다. 35 배우고 싶은 것이 있으면, 집에서 자기 남편에게 물으십시오. 여자가 교회에서 말하는 것은, 자기에게 부끄러운 일입니다. 36 하나님의 말씀이 여러분에게서 났습니까? 또는 여러분에게만 내렸습니까? 37 누구든지 자기가 예언자이거나 성령을 은사로 받은 사람이라 생각하거든, 내가 여러분에게 써 보내는 이 글이 주님의 명령이라는 것을 알아야 합니다. 38 누구든지 이것을 인정하지 않으면, 그 사람도 인정을 받지 못할 것입니다. 39 그러므로 나의 형제자매 여러분, 예언하기를 열심히 구하십시오. 그리고 방언으로 말하는 것을 막지 마십시오. 40 모든 일을 적절하게 하고 질서 있게 해야 합니다.
