TREASURE STORED IN HEAVEN		하늘에 쌓아 둔 보물
[ 1 Timothy 6:6 - 6:19 ] - hymn 433 We brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. [ 1 TIMOTHY 6:7 ] It’s common for those who are traveling overseas for the first time to pack a lot of stuff. The fear is being so far from home and needing something. But a recent article speaks of the problems of overpacking. It advises leaving behind shampoo and hair dryers (which most hotels have) and not bringing extra shoes and books, which are bulky and heavy. The writer notes that when you wind up lugging heavy luggage over Europe’s cobble- stone streets, you’ll wish you didn’t bring so much with you. In a way, it’s an apt metaphor for the travel advice the apostle Paul provides: “We brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it” (1 TIMOTHY 6:7). He ties this to the problem of possessing too much: “Those who want to get rich fall into temptation,” and he warns that extra baggage is “a trap” leading to “ruin and destruction” (V. 9). People of faith have a different travel destination where all that’s needed is provided by God—“everything for our enjoyment” (V. 17). It might be good for us today to remember that what we accumulate in life is meaningless. We can’t take it with us. By being “generous and willing to share” (V. 18), Paul says we “lay up treasure . . . for the coming age.” This is the best travel tip of all, the secret to “life that is truly life” (V. 19). KENNETH PETERSEN		[ 디모데전서 6:6 - 6:19 ] - 찬송가 433 장 우리가 세상에 아무것도 가지고 온 것이 없으매 또한 아무것도 가지고 가지 못하리니 [디모데전서 6:7] 해외 여행을 처음 가는 사람들은 보통 많은 짐을 챙겨갑니다. 먼 곳에 가서 필요한 것이 생길까 염려해서 입니다. 그러나 요즈음 기사를 보니까 과도한 짐 싸기가 문제라고 합니다. 샴푸나 헤어 드라이어는 대부분의 호텔에서 제공되므로 집에 놔두고, 부피가 크고 무거운 여벌 신발과 책도 가져가지 말라고 조언합니다. 저자는 무거운 여행 가방을 끌고 유럽의 돌길을 다니다 보면 많이 가져온 것을 후회하게 된다고 말합니다. 어떤 면에서 이 이야기는 바울 사도가 여행에 대해 말한 조언과 적절히 비유됩니다. 바울은 “우리가 세상에 아무것도 가지고 온 것이 없으매 또한 아무것도 가지고 가지 못하리라”(디모데전서 6:7)고 하며, 이 문제를 과도한 소유의 문제와 연결합니다. “부하려 하는 자들은 시험과 올무와 여러 가지 어리석고 해로운 욕심에 떨어지나니 곧 사람으로 파멸과 멸망에 빠지게 하는 것이라”(9절). 믿음의 사람들에게는 하나님이 필요한 모든 것을 제공하는, 곧 “모든 것을 누리게 하시는”(17절) 다른 여행 목적지가 있습니다. 오늘 우리가 기억해야 할 것은 인생에서 쌓아두는 것은 무의미하다는 것입니다. 우리는 그것을 가지고 갈 수가 없습니다. 바울은 우리가 “나누어 주기를 좋아하며 너그럽게”(18절) 됨으로써 “장래에... 좋은 터를 쌓는”다고 말합니다. 이것은 모든 여행 정보 중 가장 좋은 것이며, “참된 생명”에 이르는 비밀입니다(19절).

Dear God, please help me to change my relationship to things and possessions.
Help me to be generous with others.

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.

8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.

9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

영원을 향한 여정에 어떻게 “짐을 가볍게 할 수” 있을까요?
천국에 어떤 보물을 쌓아둘 수 있을까요?

사랑하는 하나님, 물질과 소유에 대한 저의 태도를 바꾸게 하소서.
다른 사람들에게 너그럽게 나누는 사람이 되게 하소서.

6 그러나 자족하는 마음이 있으면 경건은 큰 이익이 되느니라

7 우리가 세상에 아무 것도 가지고 온 것이 없으매 또한 아무 것도 가지고 가지 못하리니

8 우리가 먹을 것과 입을 것이 있은즉 족한 줄로 알 것이니라

9 부하려 하는 자들은 시험과 올무와 여러 가지 어리석고 해로운 욕심에 떨어지나니 곧 사람으로 파멸과 멸망에 빠지게 하는 것이라

10 돈을 사랑함이 일만 악의 뿌리가 되나니 이것을 탐내는 자들은 미혹을 받아 믿음에서 떠나 많은 근심으로써 자기를 찔렀도다

11 ○오직 너 하나님의 사람아 이것들을 피하고 의와 경건과 믿음과 사랑과 인내와 온유를 따르며

12 믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우라 영생을 취하라 이를 위하여 네가 부르심을 받았고 많은 증인 앞에서 선한 증언을 하였도다

17 ○네가 이 세대에서 부한 자들을 명하여 마음을 높이지 말고 정함이 없는 재물에 소망을 두지 말고 오직 우리에게 모든 것을 후히 주사 누리게 하시는 하나님께 두며

18 선을 행하고 선한 사업을 많이 하고 나누어 주기를 좋아하며 너그러운 자가 되게 하라

19 이것이 장래에 자기를 위하여 좋은 터를 쌓아 참된 생명을 취하는 것이니라
