THANK GOD FOR HIS GIFTS		하나님이 주신 선물에 감사
[ Numbers 11:1 - 11:11 ] - hymn 303 We have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna! [ NUMBERS 11:6 ] The elderly man was taking a long time looking at the children’s backpacks in the store. He told me, “It’s my granddaughter’s birthday. I hope she likes my gift.” At the checkout, he clutched a pink backpack with a cartoon character design. He looked excited. Later in a restaurant, I saw him again with a little girl and her parents. When the child opened her gift, she said, “I don’t like this character! And I hate pink!” Her parents made her apologize, but she still complained. My heart broke for her grandpa. I was reminded of how I sometimes respond to God’s gifts. I complain because I want something different, failing to see the miracle before me—that God Himself has lovingly given something for me. The Israelites behaved similarly. God had kept His promise to them: “I will rain down bread from heaven for you” (EXODUS 16:4). God’s faithful provision in the wilderness was sure: “When the dew settled on the camp at night, the manna also came down” (NUMBERS 11:9). But instead of being thankful, the Israelites complained about God’s expression of loving provision: “We never see anything but this manna!” (V. 6). Instead of humbly requesting other food from God, they wailed over His gift. I still remember the hurt look in the grandfather’s eyes that day. It made me think of how our heavenly Father must feel when we complain. Let’s be grateful for the gifts He’s given us. KAREN HUANG		[ 민수기 11:1 - 11:11 ] - 찬송가 303 장 우리의 기력이 다하여 이 만나 외에는 보이는 것이 아무것도 없도다 [민수기 11:6] 한노신사가 가게에서 아이들 책가방을 한참 동안 바라보고 있다가 말했습니다. “오늘이 손녀 생일인데, 손녀가 내 선물을 좋아했으면 좋겠네요.” 그는 계산대에서 만화 그림이 있는 분홍색 책가방을 꼭 쥐고는 매우 들떠 보였습니다. 얼마 후 근처 식당에서 나는 그가 어린 여자아이와 아이 부모와 함께 있는 것을 다시 보았습니다. 아이는 선물을 열어 보더니, “나 이 만화 그림 싫어! 그리고 분홍색도 정말 싫어!” 라고 말했습니다. 아이 부모는 할아버지께 사과하라고 했지만, 아이는 계속 불평했습니다. 그 할아버지의 모습에 내 마음이 아팠습니다. 그것을 보며 나도 때때로 하나님의 선물에 어떻게 반응하는지 돌아 보았습니다. 다른 것을 달라고 불평하면서 내 앞에 있는 기적을, 곧 하나님 ‘그분 스스로’ 사랑으로 ‘나를 위해’ 주신 선물을 보지 못할 때가 있습니다. 이스라엘 백성들도 비슷하게 행동했습니다. 하나님은 “내가 너희를 위하여 하늘에서 양식을 비 같이 내려주겠다”(출애굽기 16:4)는 약속을 지키셨고, “밤에 이슬이 진영에 내릴 때에 만나도 함께 내림으로”(민수기 11:9) 광야에서도 신실하게 공급해 주셨습니다. 하지만 이스라엘 백성들은 감사하기는 커녕, “이 만나 외에는 보이는 것이 아무것도 없도다”(6절)라고 하며 하나님이 사랑으로 공급해주시는 것을 오히려 불평했습니다. 그들은 겸손하게 하나님께 다른 음식을 구하는 대신, 하나님이 주신 선물에 대해 큰 소리로 불평했습니다. 나는 그날 할아버지의 상처받은 눈빛이 아직도 눈에 선합니다. 그 모습은 우리가 불평할 때 하나님 아버지도 얼마나 마음이 아프실지 생각하게 해주었습니다. 하나님이 우리에게 주신 선물에 감사하도록 합시다.

How can you thank God for them?

Dear Father, please forgive me for the times I’ve complained.

1 Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the LORD, and when he heard them his anger was aroused. Then fire from the LORD burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.

2 When the people cried out to Moses, he prayed to the LORD and the fire died down.

4 The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat!

5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic.

6 But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!”

7 The manna was like coriander seed and looked like resin.

8 The people went around gathering it, and then ground it in a hand mill or crushed it in a mortar. They cooked it in a pot or made it into loaves. And it tasted like something made with olive oil.

9 When the dew settled on the camp at night, the manna also came down.

10 Moses heard the people of every family wailing at the entrance to their tents. The LORD became exceedingly angry, and Moses was troubled.

11 He asked the LORD, “Why have you brought this trouble on your servant? What have I done to displease you that you put the burden of all these people on me?

어떤 축복들에 대해 불평했습니까?
어떻게 하나님께 그 축복들을 감사할 수 있을까요?

사랑하는 하나님 아버지, 제가 불평했던 순간들을 용서해 주소서.

1 여호와께서 들으시기에 백성이 악한 말로 원망하매 여호와께서 들으시고 진노하사 여호와의 불을 그들 중에 붙여서 진영 끝을 사르게 하시매

2 백성이 모세에게 부르짖으므로 모세가 여호와께 기도하니 불이 꺼졌더라

4 ○그들 중에 섞여 사는 다른 인종들이 탐욕을 품으매 이스라엘 자손도 다시 울며 이르되 누가 우리에게 고기를 주어 먹게 하랴

5 우리가 애굽에 있을 때에는 값없이 생선과 오이와 참외와 부추와 파와 마늘들을 먹은 것이 생각나거늘

6 이제는 우리의 기력이 다하여 이 만나 외에는 보이는 것이 아무 것도 없도다 하니

7 만나는 깟씨와 같고 모양은 진주와 같은 것이라

8 백성이 두루 다니며 그것을 거두어 맷돌에 갈기도 하며 절구에 찧기도 하고 가마에 삶기도 하여 과자를 만들었으니 그 맛이 기름 섞은 과자 맛 같았더라

9 밤에 이슬이 진영에 내릴 때에 만나도 함께 내렸더라

10 ○백성의 온 종족들이 각기 자기 장막 문에서 우는 것을 모세가 들으니라 이러므로 여호와의 진노가 심히 크고 모세도 기뻐하지 아니하여

11 모세가 여호와께 여짜오되 어찌하여 주께서 종을 괴롭게 하시나이까 어찌하여 내게 주의 목전에서 은혜를 입게 아니하시고 이 모든 백성을 내게 맡기사 내가 그 짐을 지게 하시나이까
