[ Matthew 28:16 - 28:20 ] - hymn 505 Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. [ MATTHEW 28:19 ] My friend José was in hospice care. He’d been alert and talkative during my prior visit but a week later was now frail and speechless. I sat with José and his family anyway, hoping my presence would mean something to them. At the end of what would be my final visit, I was the last one in the room with him. I finally stood and slowly headed to the door but stopped and turned around one last time to say, “Love you,” not expecting a response. There I saw José moving his lips. He was mouthing the words “love you” in return. A person’s parting words can leave a lasting impression. As Jesus was getting ready to return to His Father in heaven after His sacrificial death and resurrection, He assured His disciples that all authority on heaven and earth belonged to Him (MATTHEW 28:18). And He left them with this lasting charge or Great Commission, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (VV. 19-20). Christ also assured His fol-lowers that He would always be with them (V. 20). Jesus’ parting words are for us today too. May we embrace His call to tell others about Him so they can experience His love and forgiveness, live for Him, and enjoy eternal life with Him in heaven. His message is too good not to share with people of all nations. NANCY GAVILANES		[ 마태복음 28:16 - 28:20 ] - 찬송가 505 장 그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 민족을 제자로 삼아 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 베풀고 [마태복음 28:19] 친구 호세가 호스피스에 입원해 있었습니다. 일주일 전 방문했을 때는 맑은 정신에 말도 잘했지만 한 주일이 지나 지금은 약해져 말을 못했습니다. 나는 그저 호세와 그의 가족들 곁에 앉아 그냥 함께 있어주는 것이 조금이나마 위안이 되기를 바랐습니다. 마지막이 될지도 모를 면회가 끝날 무렵 방에는 둘만이 있었습니다. 나는 일어나 천천히 문 쪽으로 향하다가 돌아서서 마지막으로 “사랑해”라고 말했습니다. 호세의 대답을 기대하지도 않았는데 그의 입술이 움직이는 것이 보였습니다. 그는 입 모양으로 나에게 “사랑해” 라고 화답하였습니다. 사람들이 마지막으로 한 말은 기억 속에 오래 남을 수 있습니다. 우리를 대신해 죽으시고 부활하신 예수님은 하늘에 계신 아버지께로 돌아가시기 전 제자들에게 하늘과 땅의 모든 권세가 그분께 있음을 선언하셨습니다(마태복음 28:18). 그리고 그들에게 영원한 명령, 곧 대사명을 주셨습니다. “그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 민족을 제자로 삼아 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 베풀고 내가 너희에게 분부한 모든 것을 가르쳐 지키게 하라”(19-20절). 예수님은 또한 제자들에게 항상 함께 계실 것을 약속해 주셨습니다(20절). 예수님의 마지막 말씀은 오늘날 우리에게도 주시는 말씀입니다. 우리도 사람들에게 예수님을 전하라고 하신 주님의 분부를 받아들여, 그들도 예수님의 사랑과 용서를 경험하고, 예수님을 위해 살며, 천국에서 예수님과 함께 영생을 누릴 수 있게 되기를 소원합니다. 이렇게 좋은 예수님의 메시지를 모든 민족에게 전하지 않을 수 없습니다.

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
