ABOUNDING LOVE		넘치는 사랑
[ Philippians 1:3 - 1:11 ] - hymn 299 He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. [ PHILIPPIANS 1:6 ] At the last night of summer camp, my teenage self felt conspicu-ous as I stood alone in a group of campers. When one of them mocked me, I felt hurt. I ran back to my tent, pretending to sleep when the group leader checked on me. The next morning I avoided her attempt to talk about it. She later wrote to me, helping me understand that God truly cared for me. She quoted from the apostle Paul: We can be “confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (PHILIPPIANS 1:6). I felt like the apostle’s words were directed right to me. Paul wrote to the church at Philippi, which he’d planted over a decade earlier, to encourage them to root their love for God and each other “in knowledge and depth of insight” (V. 9). God would carry on His work in and through them as He filled them “with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ” (V. 11). At the time I didn’t understand the original context, but I started to comprehend that my identity as one loved by God came from knowing and accepting the love of Jesus. God desires that we receive His love and that it would abound in us more and more. As He fills us with His joy and peace, we’ll grow in the knowledge not only of Him but of His good work in us. AMY BOUCHER PYE		[ 빌립보서 1:3 - 1:11 ] - 찬송가 299 장 너희 안에서 착한 일을 시작하신 이가 그리스도 예수의 날까지 이루실 줄을 우리는 확신하노라 [빌립보서 1:6] 여름 캠프의 마지막 밤, 여러 아이들 중 혼자 서 있던 나는 십대의 아이답게 모두가 나만 쳐다보는 것 같았습니다. 그 중 한 아이가 나를 놀린 것이 마음에 상처가 되었습니다. 나는 텐트로 돌아가 그룹 리더가 나를 보러 와도 그냥 자는 척 했습니다. 다음 날 아침, 그녀가 어제 일에 대해 이야기하려 했지만 나는 피했습니다. 그녀는 나중에 내게 편지를 보내 하나님이 나를 진정으로 돌보신다는 것을 가르쳐주었습니다. 그녀는 바울 사도의 “너희 안에서 선한 일을 시작하신 이가 그리스도 예수의 날까지 이루실 줄을 우리는 확신하노라”(빌립보서 1:6)는 말씀을 내게 주었습니다. 이 사도의 말은 바로 나에게 주는 말씀으로 느껴졌습니다. 바울은 그보다 10여년 전 개척한 빌립보 교회에 편지를 보내 하나님과 성도에 대한 사랑의 뿌리를 “지식과 모든 총명”(9절)에 두라고 했습니다. 하나님이 그들을 “예수 그리스도로 말미암아 오는 열매로 가득”(11절) 채우시면서 그들 안에서, 그리고 그들을 통해 하나님의 일을 계속하실 것이기 때문입니다. 그때 나는 그 말씀의 의미를 잘 이해하지 못했지만, 하나님께 사랑받는 자로서 나의 정체성이 예수님의 사랑을 알고 받아들이는 데 있음을 깨닫기 시작했습니다. 하나님은 우리가 그분의 사랑을 받이들이고, 그 사랑이 우리 안에 점점 더 풍성해지기를 원하십니다. 하나님이 우리를 그의 기쁨과 평화로 채우실 때 우리는 바로 하나님 뿐 아니라 우리 안에서 역사하시는 그분의 선한 일에 대한 지식도 자라날 것입니다.

Please help me look to You always for love, joy, and help.

3 I thank my God every time I remember you.

4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy

5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,

6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

7 It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me.

8 God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,

10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,

11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

하나님이 우리 안에서 그분의 일을 완성하신다는 것을 알 때 우리는 어떻게 달라질까요?
어떻게 하면 우리의 정체성을 그리스도 안에 더 깊이 뿌리 내릴 수 있을까요?

창조주 하나님, 주님은 저를 지으셨고 사랑하십니다.
사랑과 기쁨과 도움을 주시는 하나님을 늘 바라보게 하소서.

3 ○내가 너희를 생각할 때마다 나의 하나님께 감사하며

4 간구할 때마다 너희 무리를 위하여 기쁨으로 항상 간구함은

5 너희가 첫날부터 이제까지 복음을 위한 일에 참여하고 있기 때문이라

6 너희 안에서 착한 일을 시작하신 이가 그리스도 예수의 날까지 이루실 줄을 우리는 확신하노라

7 내가 너희 무리를 위하여 이와 같이 생각하는 것이 마땅하니 이는 너희가 내 마음에 있음이며 나의 매임과 복음을 변명함과 확정함에 너희가 다 나와 함께 은혜에 참여한 자가 됨이라

8 내가 예수 그리스도의 심장으로 너희 무리를 얼마나 사모하는지 하나님이 내 증인이시니라

9 내가 기도하노라 너희 사랑을 지식과 모든 총명으로 점점 더 풍성하게 하사

10 너희로 지극히 선한 것을 분별하며 또 진실하여 허물 없이 그리스도의 날까지 이르고

11 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 의의 열매가 가득하여 하나님의 영광과 찬송이 되기를 원하노라
