AN ENLARGED HEART		넓혀진 마음
[ Psalms 119:30 - 119:41 ] - hymn 424 I will run the course of Your commandments, for You shall enlarge my heart. [ PSALM 119:32 NKJV ] In his Confessions, Augustine wrestled with how it was possible for God to be in relationship with him. How could the one who created the universe come into something as small and sinful as his heart? But he pleaded with God to make it possible, pray-ing, “The house of my soul is narrow. Enlarge it, so that you may enter it. It’s in ruins! Repair it! It has things in it that would offend your eyes. I confess and know it. But who will cleanse it, or to whom will I cry, but to you?” Today we know Augustine as Saint Augustine, a revered phi-losopher and theologian. But he saw himself simply as someone transformed by the wonder of a God who wanted to know him. In Psalm 119, the psalmist is also in awe of God’s revelation of Himself, particularly through Scripture (V. 18). “You shall enlarge my heart” (V. 32 NKJV), the psalmist celebrated. It’s only because God is graciously willing to enlarge our hearts that we can joyfully walk the path He shows us (V. 45). He turns our hearts away from what is corrupt (VV. 36-37) to the “path of [His] commands,” where we find His infinite “delight” (V. 35). We are small, and our hearts are fickle. But when we turn our longing hearts to God (VV. 34, 36), He guides us down the paths of joy and true freedom. MONICA LA ROSE		[ 시편 119:30 - 119:41 ] - 찬송가 424 장 주께서 내 마음을 넓히시오면 내가 주의 계명의 길로 달려가리이다 [시편 119:32] 성 어거스틴의 ‘참회록’을 보면, 그는 어떻게 해야 하나님과 관계를 가질 수 있을지에 대해 고민했습니다. 우주를 창조하신 분이 어떻게 그의 마음 같이 작고 죄 많은 것 속으로 들어오실 수 있을까요? 그러나 그는 그렇게 해달라고 하나님께 이렇게 간구합니다. “제 영혼의 집은 협소하나 이 속으로 들어오시도록 그것을 넓혀 주소서. 폐허가 되어 있는 그것을 고쳐 주소서! 그 속에 하나님 보시기에 불쾌한 것들이 있음을 알고 고백합니다. 그러나 누가 그것을 깨끗케 하며, 하나님 외에 누구에게 제가 울며 호소하리이까?” 오늘날 존경받는 철학자요 신학자로 알려진 어거스틴은 그저 자신을 알고 싶어하신 놀라운 하나님으로 말미암아 변화된 한 사람일 뿐이라고 생각했습니다. 시편 119편 기자 역시 특별히 성경말씀을 통해 자신을 드러내시는 하나님에 대해 경외심을 표현합니다(18절). 시편 기자는 “주께서 내 마음을 넓혀 주소서”(32 절)라고 찬양합니다. 하나님께서 은혜로 우리 마음을 기꺼이 넓혀 주시기 때문에 우리는 하나님이 보여주시는 길을 기쁨으로 걸어갈 수 있습니다(45절). 하나님은 우리 마음을 허탄한 것들로부터 돌이켜(36-37절) 그분의 무한한 “즐거움”이 있는 “주의 계명들의 길”로 가게 하십니다(35절). 우리는 작고 우리의 마음은 불안정합니다. 하지만 우리가 전심으로 하나님께로 향할 때(34, 36절) 하나님은 우리를 기쁨과 참 자유의 길로 인도해 주십니다.

32 I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding.

33 Teach me, LORD, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end.

34 Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart.

35 Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.

36 Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.

37 Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.

38 Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared.

39 Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good.

40 How I long for your precepts! In your righteousness preserve my life.

41 May your unfailing love come to me, LORD, your salvation, according to your promise;

하나님께서 어떻게 당신의 마음을 “넓혀 주셨습니까”?
하나님께서 당신의 어떤 면을 성장시키시기를 원하십니까?

사랑하는 하나님, 위대하신 하나님을 향해 제 마음을 열게 해 주시니 감사합니다.
제 마음을 오늘, 그리고 매일 넓혀 주소서.

30 내가 성실한 길을 택하고 주의 규례들을 내 앞에 두었나이다

31 내가 주의 증거들에 매달렸사오니 여호와여 내가 수치를 당하지 말게 하소서

32 주께서 내 마음을 넓히시면 내가 주의 계명들의 길로 달려가리이다

33 ○여호와여 주의 율례들의 도를 내게 가르치소서 내가 끝까지 지키리이다

34 나로 하여금 깨닫게 하여 주소서 내가 주의 법을 준행하며 전심으로 지키리이다

36 내 마음을 주의 증거들에게 향하게 하시고 탐욕으로 향하지 말게 하소서

37 내 눈을 돌이켜 허탄한 것을 보지 말게 하시고 주의 길에서 나를 살아나게 하소서

38 주를 경외하게 하는 주의 말씀을 주의 종에게 세우소서

39 내가 두려워하는 비방을 내게서 떠나게 하소서 주의 규례들은 선하심이니이다

40 내가 주의 법도들을 사모하였사오니 주의 의로 나를 살아나게 하소서

41 ○여호와여 주의 말씀대로 주의 인자하심과 주의 구원을 내게 임하게 하소서
