TRUE INTEGRITY		참된 인성
[ 1 Peter 2:11 - 2:21 ] - hymn 220 Live such good lives among the pagans that . . . they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. [ 1 PETER 2:12 ] At a job interview, Carol was asked repeatedly, “Why did you leave your previous job?” The interviewer had an inkling of the conflict she’d had with her former employer and wanted to know what had happened. While acknowledging “differences in working style,” Carol refused to divulge her opinion of her former boss, believing that it would be wrong to speak ill of him. Later, after she was hired, her new boss revealed that the hiring personnel liked her response: “We were impressed by your integrity. We wouldn’t want you to bad-mouth your boss—or us next time—either.” As a new believer in Jesus, Carol had always wondered how to live in a “godly” and “right” way, practically. She realized the answer could be simple: show integrity and be honorable, honest, and ethical. First Peter 2:12 points to the importance of integrity in every-thing: “Live such good lives among the pagans that . . . they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” This includes practical things like submitting to lawful authori-ties (VV. 13-14); doing good (V. 15); showing an attitude of humility and service (V. 16); and respecting and loving others (V. 17). As God helps us, let’s serve Him in a way that brings honor to His name. LESLIE KOH		[ 베드로전서 2:11 - 2:21 ] - 찬송가 220 장 너희가 이방인 중에서 행실을 선하게 가져... 너희 선한 일을 보고 오시는 날에 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 하려 함이라 [베드로전서 2:12] 이직 면접을 하는 동안 캐롤은 “이전 직장을 왜 그만두셨나요?”라는 질문을 수차례 받았습니다. 캐롤이 전 직장 상사와 갈등이 있었던 것을 눈치로 느낀 면접관은 무슨 일이 있었는지 알고 싶어 했습니다. 캐롤은 “업무 스타일의 차이”가 있었음을 인정했지만 전 상사에 대한 자신의 의견에 대해서 말하는 것은 거절했습니다. 그 사람에 대해 나쁘게 말하는 것은 옳지 않다고 생각했기 때문입니다. 나중에 캐롤이 그 직장에 채용된 후 새 상사는 인사 담당자들이 그녀의 대답을 좋게 보았다고 알려주며 이렇게 말했습니다. “우리는 당신의 인성이 마음에 들었어요. 이전 상사에 대해 험담을 하고 또 나중에 우리에 대해서도 똑같이 하면 좋을 게 없으니까요.” 예수님을 믿은 지 얼마 되지 않았던 캐롤은 어떻게 실제로 “경건하고” “올바르게” 살 수 있는지 늘 궁금해했습니다. 그러던 중 그 답이 의외로 단순할 수 있겠다고 생각되었습니다. 그것은 진실성을 보여주고, 명예롭고 정직하며 윤리적으로 사는 것이었습니다. 베드로전서 2장 12절은 모든 일에 있어 인성의 중요성을 강조합니다. “너희가 이방인 중에서 행실을 선하게 가져... 너희 선한 일을 보고 오시는 날에 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 하려 함이라”. 이 말씀은 구체적으로 법의 준수(13-14절), 선을 행함(15절), 겸손과 섬김(16절), 이웃을 존중하고 사랑함(17절) 등을 의미 합니다. 우리도 하나님께서 도우시사 그분의 이름을 영화롭게 하며 섬기는 삶을 삽시다.

Dear Father, please give me the wisdom to show integrity, love, and respect for others each day so Your name will be glorified in all I say and do.

11 Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.
12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
13 Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority,
14 or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.
15 For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.
16 Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.
17 Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.
18 Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.
19 For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God.
20 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.
21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

믿음대로 살기 위한 간단하고 실제적인 방법에는 무엇이 있을까요?
해야 할 언행과 피해야 할 언행은 무엇일까요?

사랑하는 하나님 아버지, 매일 매순간 다른 이들을 참된 인성과 사랑, 존중으로 대하도록 지혜를 주셔서 저의 말과 행동으로 하나님께 영광 돌리기를 원합니다.

11 사랑하는 자들아 거류민과 나그네 같은 너희를 권하노니 영혼을 거슬러 싸우는 육체의 정욕을 제어하라
12 너희가 이방인 중에서 행실을 선하게 가져 너희를 악행한다고 비방하는 자들로 하여금 너희 선한 일을 보고 오시는 날에 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 하려 함이라
13 인간의 모든 제도를 주를 위하여 순종하되 혹은 위에 있는 왕이나
14 혹은 그가 악행하는 자를 징벌하고 선행하는 자를 포상하기 위하여 보낸 총독에게 하라
15 곧 선행으로 어리석은 사람들의 무식한 말을 막으시는 것이라
16 너희는 자유가 있으나 그 자유로 악을 가리는 데 쓰지 말고 오직 하나님의 종과 같이 하라
17 뭇 사람을 공경하며 형제를 사랑하며 하나님을 두려워하며 왕을 존대하라
18 사환들아 범사에 두려워함으로 주인들에게 순종하되 선하고 관용하는 자들에게만 아니라 또한 까다로운 자들에게도 그리하라
19 부당하게 고난을 받아도 하나님을 생각함으로 슬픔을 참으면 이는 아름다우나
20 죄가 있어 매를 맞고 참으면 무슨 칭찬이 있으리요 그러나 선을 행함으로 고난을 받고 참으면 이는 하나님 앞에 아름다우니라
21 이를 위하여 너희가 부르심을 받았으니 그리스도도 너희를 위하여 고난을 받으사 너희에게 본을 끼쳐 그 자취를 따라오게 하려 하셨느니라
