ACTS OF DEVOTION		모든 선한 일들
[ 2 Chronicles 35:20 - 35:27 ] - hymn 310 The other events of Josiah’s reign and his acts of devotion . . . are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. [ 2 CHRONICLES 35:26-27 ] Like all early departures from this life, Joe’s death shocked those who knew him. Just before he died, he’d begun making poor decisions. Now this husband, father, coach, and youth leader would no longer be there for those who’d relied on him. It’s easy to focus on Joe’s recent bad choices. Yet when his daughter spoke at his funeral, she rightly highlighted how her dad, though flawed like all of us, had served Jesus with his life. We find something similar in the story of Judah’s King Josiah. When Egypt’s King Necho mounted a military offensive against Babylon, Josiah foolishly “marched out to meet him in battle” (2 CHRONICLES 35:20). Necho had no intention of attacking Judah (V. 21), and Josiah’s inter-vention ignored “God’s command” (V. 22). It cost him his life (VV. 23-24). Though Josiah finished unwisely, the prophet Jeremiah “com-posed laments for Josiah” (V. 25). The story concludes, “The other events of Josiah’s reign and his acts of devotion . . . are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah” (VV. 26-27). Acts of devotion. A timely epitaph for an untimely death. It’s good to ponder the apostle Paul’s words: “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (ROMANS 8:1). As we consider how our heavenly Father sees us in Christ, it’s easy to recall the acts of devotion done by His children who’ve left us. 20 After all this, when Josiah had set the temple in order, Necho king of Egypt went up to fight at Carchemish on the Euphrates, and Josiah marched out to meet him in battle.

21 But Necho sent messengers to him, saying, “What quarrel is there, king of Judah, between you and me? It is not you I am attacking at this time, but the house with which I am at war. God has told me to hurry; so stop opposing God, who is with me, or he will destroy you.”

22 Josiah, however, would not turn away from him, but disguised himself to engage him in battle. He would not listen to what Necho had said at God's command but went to fight him on the plain of Megiddo.

23 Archers shot King Josiah, and he told his officers, “Take me away; I am badly wounded.”

24 So they took him out of his chariot, put him in his other chariot and brought him to Jerusalem, where he died. He was buried in the tombs of his ancestors, and all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for him.

25 Jeremiah composed laments for Josiah, and to this day all the male and female singers commemorate Josiah in the laments. These became a tradition in Israel and are written in the Laments.

26 The other events of Josiah's reign and his acts of devotion in accordance with what is written in the Law of the Lord—

27 all the events, from beginning to end, are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

22 요시야가 몸을 돌이켜 떠나기를 싫어하고 오히려 변장하고 그와 싸우고자 하여 하나님의 입에서 나온 느고의 말을 듣지 아니하고 므깃도 골짜기에 이르러 싸울 때에

23 활 쏘는 자가 요시야 왕을 쏜지라 왕이 그의 신하들에게 이르되 내가 중상을 입었으니 나를 도와 나가게 하라

24 그 부하들이 그를 병거에서 내리게 하고 그의 버금 병거에 태워 예루살렘에 이른 후에 그가 죽으니 그의 조상들의 묘실에 장사되니라 온 유다와 예루살렘 사람들이 요시야를 슬퍼하고

25 예레미야는 그를 위하여 애가를 지었으며 모든 노래하는 남자들과 여자들은 요시야를 슬피 노래하니 이스라엘에 규례가 되어 오늘까지 이르렀으며 그 가사는 애가 중에 기록되었더라

26 요시야의 남은 사적과 여호와의 율법에 기록된 대로 행한 모든 선한 일과

27 그의 처음부터 끝까지의 행적은 이스라엘과 유다 열왕기에 기록되니라
