THE FUTURE GOD’S PREPARING		하나님이 예비하고 계시는 미래
[ Isaiah 43:16 - 43:21 ] - hymn 483 Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. [ ISAIAH 43:18 ] We live in a world where the internet forgets nothing—every photo, post, and blog entry is seemingly stored forever. One major search engine, however, introduced a privacy feature allowing users to request the removal of personal data like phone numbers, home addresses, and more. While this doesn’t erase the data from the internet entirely, it significantly reduces its visibility, giving people a sense of control over their digital footprints. This idea of “scrubbing” the past echoes the prophet’s words in Isaiah 43:18-19. God said, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing.” These verses were spoken to Israel during their exile in Babylon—a period of deep despair and longing for restoration. God commanded His people to not fixate on their past failures or the pain of captivity but to look forward to the new work He was about to do—a new and more significant exodus—their deliverance from Babylon and return to their homeland. He wasn’t just erasing the past but “making a way” (V. 19) to a future filled with hope and purpose. Instead of dwelling on failures or regrets, let’s trust that God has “scrubbed” our past sins, regrets, and shame and—through Jesus’ sacrifice (HEBREWS 10:10)—“remembers [our] sins no more” (ISAIAH 43:25). God propels us toward the future He’s preparing. MARVIN WILLIAMS		[ 이사야 43:16 - 43:21 ] - 찬송가 483 장 너희는 이전 일을 기억하지 말며 옛날 일을 생각하지 말라 [이사야 43:18] 우리는 지금 사진이나 게시물, 블로그의 글 하나하나까지 잊히지 않고 모두 인터넷에 영원히 저장될 것 같은 세상에 살고 있습니다. 그런데 한 주요 검색 엔진이 사용자가 본인의 전화번호나 집 주소 등과 같은 개인 정보 삭제를 요청할 수 있는 개인정보 보호 기능을 도입했습니다. 물론 이 기능이 인터넷상의 모든 데이터를 완전히 없애는 것은 아니지만, 노출을 현저히 줄여 사용자가 그들의 디지털 흔적을 제어할 수 있다는 느낌을 갖게 해줍니다. 과거를 “지워버린다”는 이 개념은 이사야 43:18-19에 있는 선지자의 말을 떠올려 줍니다. 하나님은 “너희는 이전 일을 기억하지 말며 옛날 일을 생각하지 말라 보라 내가 새 일을 행하리라”고 말씀하셨습니다. 이 구절은 이스라엘 민족이 바벨론에 포로로 끌려가 깊은 절망 속에 회복을 갈망하던 시기에 주신 말씀입니다. 하나님은 그의 백성들에게 과거의 실패나 포로의 고통 속에 머무르지 말고, 하나님이 앞으로 행하실 새로운 일을 기대하라고 말씀하셨습니다. 그것은 새롭고도 더 중요한 대이동인, 바벨론에서 해방되어 고향으로 귀환하는 것이었습니다. 하나님은 과거를 단지 지우시는 것이 아니라, 소망과 목적으로 가득한 미래로 가는 “길을 내고”(19절) 계셨습니다. 우리도 실수나 후회에 얽매이지 말고, 하나님께서 예수님의 희생을 통해 우리의 과거의 죄와 후회와 수치를 “지워 주셨고”(히브리서 10:10), “[우리의] 죄를 기억하지 않으신다”(이사야 43:25)는 것을 믿어야 합니다. 하나님은 우리를 몰아 그분이 준비하고 계시는 미래를 향해 나아가게 하십니다.

16 This is what the LORD says— he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters,

17 who drew out the chariots and horses, the army and reinforcements together, and they lay there, never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:

18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.

19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

20 The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen,

21 the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.

과거의 일을 놓아 보내는 것이 왜 그렇게 어려울까요?
새로운 시작을 위해 어떻게 하나님을 더 깊이 신뢰할 수 있을까요?

사랑하는 하나님, 과거에 작별을 고하고 미래를 기대할 수 있도록 도와주소서.

16 나 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 바다 가운데에 길을, 큰 물 가운데에 지름길을 내고

17 병거와 말과 군대의 용사를 이끌어 내어 그들이 일시에 엎드러져 일어나지 못하고 소멸하기를 꺼져가는 등불 같게 하였느니라

18 너희는 이전 일을 기억하지 말며 옛날 일을 생각하지 말라

19 보라 내가 새 일을 행하리니 이제 나타낼 것이라 너희가 그것을 알지 못하겠느냐 반드시 내가 광야에 길을 사막에 강을 내리니

20 장차 들짐승 곧 승냥이와 타조도 나를 존경할 것은 내가 광야에 물을, 사막에 강들을 내어 내 백성, 내가 택한 자에게 마시게 할 것임이라

21 이 백성은 내가 나를 위하여 지었나니 나를 찬송하게 하려 함이니라
