GOD WATCHING OVER US		우리를 지키시는 하나님
[ 2 Kings 6:9 - 6:17 ] - hymn 383 Those who are with us are more than those who are with them. [ 2 KINGS 6:16 ] The angels were there all along, but no one alive had seen them. They adorned the walls of the Old North Church in Boston, looking down from on high, but they’d been covered with layers of paint more than a century ago. Church records indicated a contract with a member of the congregation to paint them in 1730 when the church was undergoing construction. A recent restoration project that commenced in 2017 led to the discovery of the angels. Scripture speaks of supernatural beings—real, not painted—that were present when others were not aware. On one occasion, the prophet Elisha was surrounded by the army of the king of Aram. When his servant saw the hostile forces, he cried out, “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” (2 KINGS 6:15). “ ‘Don’t be afraid,’ the prophet answered. ‘Those who are with us are more than those who are with them’ ” (V. 16). Elisha prayed for his servant’s eyes to be opened, and “he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha” (V. 17). Angels are “ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation” (HEBREWS 1:14), messengers of God sent to help us. We may or may not see them, but they’re there because God has more ways of watching over us than we can imagine. And that should cause us to praise Him, like the angels do. 9The man of God sent word to the king of Israel: 'Beware of passing that place, because the Arameans are going down there.'

10So the king of Israel checked on the place indicated by the man of God. Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he was on his guard in such places.

11This enraged the king of Aram. He summoned his officers and demanded of them, 'Will you not tell me which of us is on the side of the king of Israel?'

12'None of us, my lord the king,' said one of his officers, 'but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.'

13'Go, find out where he is,' the king ordered, 'so I can send men and capture him.' The report came back: 'He is in Dothan.'

14Then he sent horses and chariots and a strong force there. They went by night and surrounded the city.

15When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. 'Oh, my lord, what shall we do?' the servant asked.

16"Don't be afraid," the prophet answered. "Those who are with us are more than those who are with them."

17And Elisha prayed, "O LORD, open his eyes so he may see." Then the LORD opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

하나님께서 우리를 지키신다는 사실이 어떤 위로를 줍니까?
오늘 그분의 선하심에 어떻게 감사할 수 있을까요?

사랑하는 하나님 아버지, 오늘도 저를 지켜 주셔서 감사합니다. 늘 주님과 동행하게 하소서.

9 하나님의 사람이 이스라엘 왕에게 보내 이르되 왕은 삼가 아무 곳으로 지나가지 마소서 아람 사람이 그 곳으로 나오나이다 하는지라

10 이스라엘 왕이 하나님의 사람이 자기에게 말하여 경계한 곳으로 사람을 보내 방비하기가 한두 번이 아닌지라

11 이러므로 아람 왕의 마음이 불안하여 그 신복들을 불러 이르되 우리 중에 누가 이스라엘 왕과 내통하는 것을 내게 말하지 아니하느냐 하니

12 그 신복 중의 한 사람이 이르되 우리 주 왕이여 아니로소이다 오직 이스라엘 선지자 엘리사가 왕이 침실에서 하신 말씀을 이스라엘의 왕에게 고하나이다 하는지라

13 왕이 이르되 너희는 가서 엘리사가 어디 있나 보라 내가 사람을 보내어 그를 잡으리라 왕에게 아뢰어 이르되 보라 그가 도단에 있도다 하나이다

14 ○왕이 이에 말과 병거와 많은 군사를 보내매 그들이 밤에 가서 그 성읍을 에워쌌더라

15 하나님의 사람의 사환이 일찍이 일어나서 나가보니 군사와 말과 병거가 성읍을 에워쌌는지라 그의 사환이 엘리사에게 말하되 아아, 내 주여 우리가 어찌하리이까 하니

16 대답하되 두려워하지 말라 우리와 함께 한 자가 그들과 함께 한 자보다 많으니라 하고

17 기도하여 이르되 여호와여 원하건대 그의 눈을 열어서 보게 하옵소서 하니 여호와께서 그 청년의 눈을 여시매 그가 보니 불말과 불병거가 산에 가득하여 엘리사를 둘렀더라
