A Psalm of David.

1 O LORD, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill?

2 He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart;

3 who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend;

4 in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who fear the LORD; who swears to his own hurt and does not change;

5 who does not put out his money at interest and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.

[다윗의 시]
1주님, 누가 주님의 장막에서 살 수 있겠습니까? 누가 주님의 거룩한 산에 머무를 수 있겠습니까?

2 깨끗한 삶을 사는 사람, 정의를 실천하는 사람, 마음으로 진실을 말하는 사람,

3 혀를 놀려 남의 허물을 들추지 않는 사람, 친구에게 해를 끼치지 않는 사람, 이웃을 모욕하지 않는 사람,

4 하나님을 업신여기는 자를 경멸하고 주님을 두려워하는 사람을 존경하는 사람입니다. 맹세한 것은 해가 되더라도 깨뜨리지 않고 지키는 사람입니다.

5 높은 이자를 받으려고 돈을 꾸어 주지 않으며, 무죄한 사람을 해칠세라 뇌물을 받지 않는 사람입니다. 이러한 사람은 영원히 흔들리지 않을 것입니다.

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding
This poem addresses the right to go before God and what qualifies a worshipper. What matters isn’t social status or wealth, but our attitude to life, and the most essential condition is a ‘blameless’ life. Worshippers discern evil, stay away from the sick, honour the righteous, keep their promises even if it comes at a cost, and do not use their neighbours. Like this, a worshipper is qualified not just by their relationship with God, but also their relationship with other people.
이 시는 하나님께 나아갈 자격, 곧 예배자의 조건을 다룹니다. 지위나 소유가 아니라 삶 전체의 태도가 중요하며, 모든 조건의 핵심은 ‘흠 없는’ 삶입니다. 예배자는 의인과 악인을 분별해 악은 멀리하고 의인을 존중하며, 손해가 있어도 약속을 지키고 이웃을 이용하지 않습니다. 이처럼 예배자의 자격에는 하나님과의 관계뿐 아니라 이웃과의 관계까지 포함됩니다.

Who is God?
Vv. 1-5 God accepts our worship based on how we live in his sight. God did not accept Cain’s offering because he failed to worship God through his way of life (Gen. 4:4-7). We cannot separate our lives from worship. God is not pleased by worship that is given by those who live unchanged lives, but he gladly accepts the lives of those who give themselves to God as worship (Rom. 12:1).
삶을 보고 예배를 받으십니다. 삶에서 하나님을 예배하는 데 실패한 가인의 제사를 하나님은 받지 않으셨습니다(창 4:4-7). 삶과 예배는 분리될 수 없습니다. 하나님은 삶을 드리지 않은 채 거행되는 예배를 기뻐하지 않으시지만, 삶을 하나님께 드리면 그 삶을 예배로 받으십니다(롬 12:1)

What lesson is God teaching me?

Vv. 4-5 We must be careful not to conduct our relationships with God or our neighbours on the basis of personal gain or disadvantage. If we only act in pursuit of profit, we ignore the misfortunes of others and regard their suffering as opportunities to benefit from. When we are not swayed by money and do not shake up the lives of others, our lives will also be secure.
손익을 따지며 하나님과의 관계나, 이웃과의 관계를 저울질하지 않도록 조심해야 합니다. 만약 이익만 좇아 행동한다면 우리는 이웃의 불행에 눈감고, 그들의 곤경을 오히려 기회로 여길 것입니다. 돈에 흔들리지 않고 이웃의 삶을 뒤흔들지 않을 때, 내 삶도 흔들리지 않을 것입니다.

Lord, shape us to have the character and way of life worthy of those who worship You.
