11Now Heber the Kenite had separated from the Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the oak in Zaanannim, which is near Kedesh. 12 When Sisera was told that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor, 13 Sisera called out all his chariots,900 chariots of iron, and all the men who were with him, from Harosheth-hagoyim to the river Kishon. 14 And Deborah said to Barak, “Up! For this is the day in which the LORD has given Sisera into your hand. Does not the LORD go out before you?” So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with10,000 men following him. 15 And the LORD routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army before Barak by the edge of the sword. And Sisera got down from his chariot and fled away on foot. 16 And Barak pursued the chariots and the army to Harosheth-hagoyim, and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; not a man was left. 17 But Sisera fled away on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite. 18 And Jael came out to meet Sisera and said to him, “Turn aside, my lord; turn aside to me; do not be afraid.” So he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug. 19 And he said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.” So she opened a skin of milk and gave him a drink and covered him. 20 And he said to her, “Stand at the opening of the tent, and if any man comes and asks you, ‘Is anyone here?’ say, ‘No.’” 21 But Jael the wife of Heber took a tent peg, and took a hammer in her hand. Then she went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple until it went down into the ground while he was lying fast asleep from weariness. So he died. 22 And behold, as Barak was pursuing Sisera, Jael went out to meet him and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man whom you are seeking.” So he went in to her tent, and there lay Sisera dead, with the tent peg in his temple. 23 So on that day God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the people of Israel. 24 And the hand of the people of Israel pressed harder and harder against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.
11그런데 모세의 장인 호밥의 자손 가운데 헤벨이라고 하는 겐 사람이 동족을 떠나, 게데스 부근에 있는 사아난님 상수리나무 곁에 장막을 치고 살았다. 12 시스라는 아비노암의 아들 바락이 다볼 산으로 올라갔다는 소식을 전하여 듣고, 13 그의 전 병력 곧 구백 대의 철 병거와 그가 거느린 온 군대를 이방인의 땅 하로셋에서 기손 강 가로 불러모았다. 14 드보라가 바락에게 말하였다. “자, 가십시오. 오늘이 바로 주님께서 시스라를 장군님의 손에 넘겨 주신 날입니다. 주님께서 친히 그대 앞에 서서 싸우러 나가실 것입니다.” 그래서 바락은 만 명의 병력을 이끌고, 다볼 산에서 쳐내려갔다. 15 주님께서 시스라와 그가 거느린 모든 철 병거와 온 군대를 바락 앞에서 칼날에 패하게 하시니, 시스라가 병거에서 내려서 뛰어 도망쳤다. 16 바락은 그 병거들과 군대를 이방인의 땅 하로셋에까지 뒤쫓았다. 시스라의 온 군대는 칼날에 쓰러져, 한 사람도 남지 않았다. 17 그러나 시스라는 뛰어서, 겐 사람 헤벨의 아내 야엘의 장막으로 도망쳤다. 하솔 왕 야빈과 겐 사람 헤벨의 가문과는 서로 가깝게 지내는 사이였기 때문이다. 18 야엘이 나아가 시스라를 맞으며 “들어오십시오. 높으신 어른! 안으로 들어오십시오. 두려워하실 것 없습니다” 하고 말하였다. 시스라가 그의 장막으로 들어오자, 야엘이 그를 이불로 덮어 주었다. 19 “내가 목이 마르니, 물 좀 마시게 하여 주시오” 하고 시스라가 간절히 청하자, 야엘이 우유가 든 가죽부대를 열어 마시게 하고는 다시 그를 덮어 주었다. 20 시스라가 그에게 “장막 어귀에 서 있다가, 만약 누가 와서 여기에 낯선 사람이 있느냐고 묻거든, 없다고 대답하여 주시오” 하고 부탁하였다. 21 시스라는 지쳐서 깊이 잠이 들었다. 헤벨의 아내 야엘은 장막 말뚝을 가져와서, 망치를 손에 들고 가만히 그에게 다가가서, 말뚝을 그의 관자놀이에 박았다. 그 말뚝이 관자놀이를 꿰뚫고 땅에 박히니 그가 죽었다. 22 바로 그 때에 바락이 시스라를 뒤쫓고 있었다. 야엘이 나가서 그를 맞으며, 그에게 말하였다. “어서 들어가십시오. 장군께서 찾고 계신 사람을 내가 보여 드리겠습니다.” 바락이 그의 장막으로 들어가 보니, 시스라가 죽어 쓰러져 있고, 그의 관자놀이에는 말뚝이 박혀 있었다. 23 이렇게 하나님이 그 날에 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 가나안 왕 야빈을 굴복시키셨다. 24 이스라엘 자손은 점점 더 강력하게 가나안 왕 야빈을 억압하였고, 마침내 가나안 왕 야빈을 멸망시켰다.
