1Six days before the Passover, Jesus therefore came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 So they gave a dinner for him there. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with him at table. 3 Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was about to betray him), said, 5 “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6 He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it. 7 Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my burial. 8 For the poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me.” 9 When the large crowd of the Jews learned that Jesus was there, they came, not only on account of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 So the chief priests made plans to put Lazarus to death as well, 11 because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus.
1유월절 엿새 전에, 예수께서 베다니에 가셨다. 그 곳은 예수께서 죽은 사람 가운데에 살리신 나사로가 사는 곳이다. 2 거기서 예수를 위하여 잔치를 베풀었는데, 마르다는 시중을 들고 있었고, 나사로는 식탁에서 예수와 함께 음식을 먹고 있는 사람 가운데 끼여 있었다. 3 그 때에 마리아가 매우 값진 순 나드 향유 한 근을 가져다가 예수의 발에 붓고, 자기 머리털로 그 발을 닦았다. 온 집 안에 향유 냄새가 가득 찼다. 4 예수의 제자 가운데 하나이며 장차 예수를 넘겨줄 가룟 유다가 말하였다. 5 “이 향유를 삼백 데나리온에 팔아서 가난한 사람들에게 주지 않고, 왜 이렇게 낭비하는가?” 6 (그가 이렇게 말한 것은, 가난한 사람을 생각해서가 아니다. 그는 도둑이어서 돈자루를 맡아 가지고 있으면서, 거기에 든 것을 훔쳐내곤 하였기 때문이다.) 7 예수께서 말씀하셨다. “그대로 두어라. 그는 나의 장사 날에 쓰려고 간직한 것을 쓴 것이다. 8 가난한 사람들은 언제나 너희와 함께 있지만, 나는 언제나 너희와 함께 있는 것이 아니다.” 9 유대 사람들이 예수가 거기에 계신다는 것을 알고, 크게 떼를 지어 몰려왔다. 그들은 예수를 보려는 것만이 아니라, 그가 죽은 사람들 가운데서 다시 살리신 나사로를 보려는 것이었다. 10 그래서 대제사장들은 나사로도 죽이려고 모의하였다. 11 그것은 나사로 때문에 많은 유대 사람이 떨어져 나가서, 예수를 믿었기 때문이다.
