1Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and our brother Sosthenes,

2 To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:

3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus,

5 that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge—6even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you—7so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

8 who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

1하나님의 뜻으로 그리스도 예수의 사도로 부르심을 받은 나 바울과, 형제 소스데네가,

2 고린도에 있는 하나님의 교회에 이 편지를 씁니다. 그리스도 예수 안에서 거룩하여지고 성도로 부르심을 받은 여러분에게 문안드립니다. 또 각처에서 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름을 부르는 모든 이들에게도 아울러 문안드립니다. 예수 그리스도는 이 사람들의 주님이시며 우리의 주님이십니다.

3 하나님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도께서 내려주시는 은혜와 평화가 여러분에게 있기를 빕니다.

4 나는 여러분이 그리스도 예수 안에서 받은 하나님의 은혜를 생각하고, 여러분의 일로 언제나 하나님께 감사를 드립니다.

5 여러분은 그리스도 안에서 모든 면에 풍족하게 되었습니다. 곧 온갖 언변과 온갖 지식이 늘었습니다.

6 그리스도에 관한 증언이 여러분 가운데서 이렇게도 튼튼하게 자리 잡았습니다.

7 그리하여 여러분은 어떠한 은사에도 부족한 것이 없으며 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 나타나심을 기다리고 있습니다.

8 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 날에 여러분이 흠잡을 데 없는 사람으로 설 수 있도록, 주님께서 여러분을 끝까지 튼튼히 세워주실 것입니다.

9 하나님은 신실하신 분이십니다. 하나님께서는 여러분을 부르셔서 그 아들 우리 주 예수 그리스도와 친교를 가지게 하여 주셨습니다.

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding
Corinth was a rich but spiritually and morally corrupt city. But even in that place, God called believers to establish a church. Paul, who became an apostle by the same calling, and his fellow worker, Sosthenes, wrote a letter to the church in Corinth (vv. 1-3). Paul thanked God for the grace he had bestowed on the church and acknowledged that the testimony of Christ had been confirmed among them, that they had received many gifts, and they had faith that made them hope in the resurrection. He was confident that God would sustain them as guiltless believers until the day of the Lord’s return (vv. 4-9).
고린도는 부유했지만 영적·도덕적으로 타락한 도시였습니다. 하지만 하나님은 이곳에서도 성도를 부르셔서 교회를 세우셨습니다. 같은 부르심으로 사도가 된 바울은 동역자 소스데네와 함께 고린도 교회에 편지를 씁니다(1-3절). 바울은 하나님이 교회에 베푸신 은혜에 감사하며, 그들 안에 그리스도에 관한 증언과 풍성한 은사, 재림을 소망하는 믿음이 있음을 말합니다. 그는 신실하신 하나님이 재림 때까지 성도를 흠 없는 자로 세우실 것을 확신합니다(4-9절).

Who is God?
VV. 1-2, 9 God called us according to the purpose of his will. Believers are people who call upon the name of Christ and are distinguished as holy so that they may enjoy fellowship with him. The church is a gathering of believers. Is my church a community that serves God’s calling?
기쁘신 뜻대로 우리를 부르셨습니다. 성도는 그리스도의 이름을 부르고, 그와 더불어 교제하게 하시려고 거룩히 구별하신 자들입니다. 이 성도의 모임이 바로 교회입니다. 우리 공동체는 하나님이 부르신 뜻에 합당하게 ‘교회’를 이루어 가고 있습니까?

What lesson is God teaching me?

VV. 4-9 The clue to solving problems lies in God’s nature and works. That’s why, before dealing with the problems in the church of Corinth, Paul first focused on God’s faithfulness. Am I looking beyond the problems before my eyes to God, who transcends them?
문제를 해결할 수 있는 실마리는 하나님의 성품과 그분께서 행하신 일에 있습니다. 그래서 바울도 고린도 교회의 많은 문제를 다루기에 앞서 하나님의 신실하심을 먼저 주목했습니다. 눈앞에 있는 문제보다 그 문제 너머에 계신 하나님을 바라보고 있습니까?
