15As soon as Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, he worshiped. And he returned to the camp of Israel and said, “Arise, for the LORD has given the host of Midian into your hand.” 16 And he divided the300 men into three companies and put trumpets into the hands of all of them and empty jars, with torches inside the jars. 17 And he said to them, “Look at me, and do likewise. When I come to the outskirts of the camp, do as I do. 18 When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, then blow the trumpets also on every side of all the camp and shout, ‘For the LORD and for Gideon.’” 19 So Gideon and the hundred men who were with him came to the outskirts of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, when they had just set the watch. And they blew the trumpets and smashed the jars that were in their hands. 20 Then the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the jars. They held in their left hands the torches, and in their right hands the trumpets to blow. And they cried out, “A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!” 21 Every man stood in his place around the camp, and all the army ran. They cried out and fled. 22 When they blew the300 trumpets, the LORD set every man’s sword against his comrade and against all the army. And the army fled as far as Beth-shittah toward Zererah, as far as the border of Abel-meholah, by Tabbath. 23 And the men of Israel were called out from Naphtali and from Asher and from all Manasseh, and they pursued after Midian. 24 Gideon sent messengers throughout all the hill country of Ephraim, saying, “Come down against the Midianites and capture the waters against them, as far as Beth-barah, and also the Jordan.” So all the men of Ephraim were called out, and they captured the waters as far as Beth-barah, and also the Jordan. 25 And they captured the two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb at the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb they killed at the winepress of Zeeb. Then they pursued Midian, and they brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon across the Jordan.
15기드온은 그 꿈 이야기와 해몽하는 말을 듣고, 주님께 경배하였다. 그리고 그는 이스라엘 진으로 돌아와서 “일어나라! 주님께서 미디안의 진을 너희 손에 넘겨 주셨다!” 하고 외쳤다. 16 그는 삼백 명을 세 부대로 나누고, 각 사람에게 나팔과 빈 항아리를 손에 들려 주었다. 빈 항아리 속에는 횃불을 감추었다. 17 그리고 이렇게 지시하였다. “너희는 나를 보고 있다가, 내가 하는 대로 하여라. 내가 적진의 끝으로 가서 하는 대로 따라 하여라. 18 나와 우리 부대가 함께 나팔을 불면, 너희도 적진의 사방에서 나팔을 불면서 ‘주님 만세! 기드온 만세!’ 하고 외쳐라.” 19 기드온과 그가 거느리는 군사 백 명이 적진의 끝에 다다른 것은, 미디안 군대의 보초가 교대를 막 끝낸 한밤중이었다. 그들은 나팔을 불며 손에 든 항아리를 깨뜨렸다. 20 세 부대가 모두 나팔을 불며 단지를 깨고, 왼손에는 횃불을 들고, 오른손에는 나팔을 들고 불면서 “주님의 칼이다! 기드온의 칼이다!” 하고 외쳤다. 21 그리고 그들이 저마다 제자리에 서서 적진을 포위하니, 적군은 모두 아우성치며 달아났다. 22 삼백 명이 나팔을 불 때에, 주님께서 모든 적들이 저희들끼리 칼로 치게 하셨다. 적군은 도망하여, 스레라의 벳싯다와 또 답밧에 가까운 아벨므홀라의 경계선까지 후퇴하였다. 23 납달리 지파와 아셀 지파와 온 므낫세 지파에서 모인 이스라엘 사람들이 미디안 군대를 추격하였다. 24 기드온은 에브라임 산간지방 전역에 전령들을 보내어서 말하였다. “너희는 내려와서 미디안을 쳐라. 그들을 앞질러서, 벳바라와 요단 강에 이르기까지의 나루들을 점령하여라.” 그러자 에브라임 사람이 모두 모여서 벳바라와 요단 강에 이르기까지의 나루들을 점령하였다. 25 그들이 미디안의 두 우두머리 오렙과 스엡을 사로잡아, 오렙은 오렙 바위에서 죽이고, 스엡은 스엡 포도주 틀에서 죽이고, 계속 미디안을 추격하였다. 그들이 오렙과 스엡의 머리를 요단 강 동쪽 지역에 있는 기드온에게 가져 왔다.
