1And the LORD appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day. 2 He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing in front of him. When he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth 3 and said, “O Lord, if I have found favor in your sight, do not pass by your servant. 4 Let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree, 5 while I bring a morsel of bread, that you may refresh yourselves, and after that you may pass on—since you have come to your servant.” So they said, “Do as you have said.” 6 And Abraham went quickly into the tent to Sarah and said, “Quick! Three seahs of fine flour! Knead it, and make cakes.” 7 And Abraham ran to the herd and took a calf, tender and good, and gave it to a young man, who prepared it quickly. 8 Then he took curds and milk and the calf that he had prepared, and set it before them. And he stood by them under the tree while they ate. 9 They said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” And he said, “She is in the tent.” 10 The LORD said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife shall have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him. 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in years. The way of women had ceased to be with Sarah. 12 So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “After I am worn out, and my lord is old, shall I have pleasure?” 13 The LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.” 15 But Sarah denied it, saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “No, but you did laugh.”
1주님께서 마므레의 상수리나무 곁에서 아브라함에게 나타나셨다. 한창 더운 대낮에, 아브라함은 자기의 장막 어귀에 앉아 있었다. 2 아브라함이 고개를 들고 보니, 웬 사람 셋이 자기의 맞은쪽에 서 있었다. 그는 그들을 보자, 장막 어귀에서 달려 나가서, 그들을 맞이하며, 땅에 엎드려서 절을 하였다. 3 아브라함이 말하였다. “손님들께서 저를 좋게 보시면, 이 종의 곁을 그냥 지나가지 마시기 바랍니다. 4 물을 좀 가져 오라고 하셔서, 발을 씻으시고, 이 나무 아래에서 쉬시기 바랍니다. 5 손님들께서 잡수실 것을, 제가 조금 가져 오겠습니다. 이렇게 이 종에게로 오셨으니, 좀 잡수시고, 기분이 상쾌해진 다음에 길을 떠나시기 바랍니다.” 그들이 대답하였다. “좋습니다. 정 그렇게 하라고 하시면, 사양하지 않겠습니다.” 6 아브라함이 장막 안으로 뛰어 들어가서, 사라에게 말하였다. “빨리 고운 밀가루 세 스아를 가지고 와서, 반죽을 하여 빵을 좀 구우시오.” 7 아브라함이 집짐승 떼가 있는 데로 달려가서, 기름진 좋은 송아지 한 마리를 끌어다가, 하인에게 주니, 하인이 재빨리 그것을 잡아서 요리하였다. 8 아브라함이 엉긴 젖과 우유와 하인이 만든 송아지 요리를 나그네들 앞에 차려 놓았다. 그들이 나무 아래에서 먹는 동안에, 아브라함은 서서, 시중을 들었다. 9 그들이 아브라함에게 물었다. “댁의 부인 사라는 어디에 있습니까?” 아브라함이 대답하였다. “장막 안에 있습니다.” 10 그 때에 주님께서 말씀하셨다. “다음 해 이맘때에, 내가 반드시 너를 다시 찾아오겠다. 그 때에 너의 아내 사라에게 아들이 있을 것이다.” 사라는, 아브라함이 등지고 서 있는 장막 어귀에서 이 말을 들었다. 11 아브라함과 사라는 이미 나이가 많은 노인들이고, 사라는 월경마저 그쳐서, 아이를 낳을 나이가 지난 사람이다. 12 그러므로 사라는 “나는 기력이 다 쇠진하였고, 나의 남편도 늙었는데, 어찌 나에게 그런 즐거운 일이 있으랴!” 하고, 속으로 웃으면서 중얼거렸다. 13 그 때에 주님께서 아브라함에게 말씀하셨다. “어찌하여 사라가 웃으면서 ‘이 늙은 나이에 내가 어찌 아들을 낳으랴?’ 하느냐? 14 나 주가 할 수 없는 일이 있느냐? 다음 해 이맘때에, 내가 다시 너를 찾아오겠다. 그 때에 사라에게 아들이 있을 것이다.” 15 사라는 두려워서 거짓말을 하였다. “저는 웃지 않았습니다.” 그러나 주님께서 말씀하셨다. “아니다. 너는 웃었다.”
