[A Psalm of David.]
1 Hear my prayer, O LORD; give ear to my pleas for mercy! In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!
2 Enter not into judgment with your servant, for no one living is righteous before you.
3 For the enemy has pursued my soul; he has crushed my life to the ground; he has made me sit in darkness like those long dead.
4 Therefore my spirit faints within me; my heart within me is appalled.
5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done; I ponder the work of your hands.
6 I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah
7 Answer me quickly, O LORD! My spirit fails! Hide not your face from me, lest I be like those who go down to the pit.
8 Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.
9 Deliver me from my enemies, O LORD! I have fled to you for refuge.
10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!
11 For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life! In your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble!
12 And in your steadfast love you will cut off my enemies, and you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul, for I am your servant.

[다윗의 노래]
1주님, 내 기도를 들어 주십시오. 애원하는 내 소리에 귀를 기울여 주십시오. 주님의 진실하심과 주님의 의로우심으로 나에게 대답해 주십시오.
2 살아 있는 어느 누구도 주님 앞에서는 의롭지 못하니, 주님의 종을 심판하지 말아 주십시오.
3 원수들이 내 목숨을 노리고 뒤쫓아 와서, 내 생명을 땅에 짓이겨서, 죽은 지 오래된 사람처럼 흑암 속에서 묻혀 살게 하였습니다.
4 내 기력은 약해지고, 놀란 심장은 박동조차 멎어 버렸습니다.
5 내가 옛날을 기억하고, 주님의 그 모든 행적을 돌이켜보며, 주님께서 손수 이루신 일들을 깊이깊이 생각합니다.
6 내가 주님을 바라보며, 내 두 손을 펴 들고 기도합니다. 메마른 땅처럼 목마른 내 영혼이 주님을 그리워합니다. (셀라)
7 주님, 나에게 속히 대답해 주십시오. 숨이 끊어질 지경입니다. 주님의 얼굴을 나에게 숨기지 말아 주십시오. 내가 무덤으로 내려가는 자들처럼 될까 두렵습니다.
8 내가 주님을 의지하니, 아침마다 주님의 변함없는 사랑의 말씀을 듣게 해주십시오. 내 영혼이 주님께 의지하니, 내가 가야 할 길을 알려 주십시오.
9 주님, 내가 주님께로 몸을 피하니, 내 원수들에게서 건져 주십시오.
10 주님은 나의 하나님이시니, 주님의 뜻을 따라 사는 길을 가르쳐 주십시오. 주님의 선하신 영으로 나를 이끄셔서, 평탄한 길로 나를 인도하여 주십시오.
11 주님, 주님의 이름을 위하여 나를 살리시고, 주님의 의로우심으로 내가 받는 모든 고난에서 내 영혼을 건져 주십시오.
12 주님은 한결같이 나를 사랑하시니, 내 원수들을 없애 주십시오. 나를 억압하는 자들을 멸하여 주십시오. 나는 주님의 종입니다.

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding
As the psalmist faces injustice, he pleads for God’s mercy, relying on the Lord's righteousness. Aware that he can never meet God's standards, he has no choice but to appeal for grace. He lives as though he were a plant with only its roots remaining, continually attacked by his enemies. In the depths of despair, he remembers God and prays with all his strength, stretching out his hands to him (vv. 1-6). He earnestly asks God not to turn his face away, but to look upon him. He prays for God’s mercy once more, asking him to save him and to show him the way he should follow (vv. 7-12).
불의한 일을 겪고 있는 시인은 ‘주의 진실과 의’를 의지해 긍휼을 구하며 기도합니다. 자신도 하나님의 기준에 미치지 못함을 알기에 자비를 구할 수밖에 없습니다. 원수들의 공격으로 그는 마치 뿌리만 남은 채 땅에 묻혀 죽은 듯 살아갑니다. 그 절망의 심연에서 그는 옛날을 기억하고 마지막 힘을 다해 손을 높이 들고 하나님을 향해 기도합니다(1-6절). 하나님이 얼굴을 돌리지 마시고 한 번만 자신을 돌아보시기를 간절히 구합니다. 그 은혜를 다시 베푸셔서 구원하시고, 가야 할 길을 가르쳐 달라고 기도합니다(7-12절).

What lesson is God teaching me?
Vv. 1-2 The psalmist grounds his prayer on God's covenant. God's truth and righteousness are revealed through his covenant relationship with his people. As one of God’s people, the psalmist appeals to God's righteousness as he asks for mercy. Since no one can claim to be righteous before God, we too must humbly acknowledge our unworthiness. Yet, through our covenant relationship with Jesus Christ, we can still pray with boldness in his mercy.
시인은 기도의 근거로 하나님의 언약을 붙듭니다. 하나님의 ‘진실과 의’는 언약 관계에서 보여야 하는 태도며, 시인은 하나님의 종으로서 그 의로우심에 기대어 자비를 구합니다. 아무도 하나님 앞에 의롭다 할 수 없기에, 우리도 자격 없음을 겸손하게 여기되 언약의 담대함으로 기도해야 합니다.

Vv. 8-10 The psalmist eagerly awaits the ‘morning.’ He longs for the end of the dark night of his troubles and the arrival of the morning, when he can hear the Lord’s words. Each breath we take in the morning and the Word of God available to us daily are precious blessings. May we never lose sight of how valuable these things are and cherish them fully today.
시인은 ‘아침’을 간절히 기다립니다. 어두운 밤이 끝나고 다시 주님의 말씀을 듣는 평범한 하루를 소망합니다. 매일 아침 맞는 숨결, 매일 펼칠 수 있는 하나님의 말씀은 우리가 누리는 가장 큰 복입니다. 잃고 나서야 소중함을 깨닫지 않도록, 오늘도 그 복을 귀히 여기며 누립시다.

Dear God, thank you for lighting my path with your Word every morning. Direct me daily in your truth.
