28He had sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to show the way before him in Goshen, and they came into the land of Goshen. 29 Then Joseph prepared his chariot and went up to meet Israel his father in Goshen. He presented himself to him and fell on his neck and wept on his neck a good while. 30 Israel said to Joseph, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face and know that you are still alive.” 31 Joseph said to his brothers and to his father's household, “I will go up and tell Pharaoh and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father's household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me. 32 And the men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock, and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.’ 33 When Pharaoh calls you and says, ‘What is your occupation?’ 34 you shall say, ‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,’ in order that you may dwell in the land of Goshen, for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.” 1 So Joseph went in and told Pharaoh, “My father and my brothers, with their flocks and herds and all that they possess, have come from the land of Canaan. They are now in the land of Goshen.” 2 And from among his brothers he took five men and presented them to Pharaoh. 3 Pharaoh said to his brothers, “What is your occupation?” And they said to Pharaoh, “Your servants are shepherds, as our fathers were.” 4 They said to Pharaoh, “We have come to sojourn in the land, for there is no pasture for your servants' flocks, for the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. And now, please let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen.” 5 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Your father and your brothers have come to you. 6 The land of Egypt is before you. Settle your father and your brothers in the best of the land. Let them settle in the land of Goshen, and if you know any able men among them, put them in charge of my livestock.” 7 Then Joseph brought in Jacob his father and stood him before Pharaoh, and Jacob blessed Pharaoh. 8 And Pharaoh said to Jacob, “How many are the days of the years of your life?” 9 And Jacob said to Pharaoh, “The days of the years of my sojourning are130 years. Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their sojourning.” 10 And Jacob blessed Pharaoh and went out from the presence of Pharaoh. 11 Then Joseph settled his father and his brothers and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded. 12 And Joseph provided his father, his brothers, and all his father's household with food, according to the number of their dependents.
28이스라엘이 유다를 자기보다 앞세워서 요셉에게로 보내어, 야곱 일행이 고센으로 간다는 것을 알리게 하였다. 일행이 고센 땅에 이르렀을 때에, 29 요셉이 자기 아버지 이스라엘을 맞으려고, 병거를 갖추어서 고센으로 갔다. 요셉이 아버지 이스라엘을 보고서, 목을 껴안고 한참 울다가는, 다시 꼭 껴안았다. 30 이스라엘이 요셉에게 말하였다. “나는 이제 죽어도 여한이 없다. 내가 너의 얼굴을 보다니, 네가 여태까지 살아 있구나!” 31 요셉이 자기의 형들과 아버지의 집안 식구들에게 말하였다. “제가 이제 돌아가서, 바로께 이렇게 말씀드리겠습니다. ‘가나안 땅에 살던 저의 형제들과 아버지의 집안이 저를 만나보려고 왔습니다. 32 그들은 본래부터 목자이고, 집짐승을 기르는 사람들인데, 그들이 가지고 있는 양과 소와 모든 재산을 챙겨서 이리로 왔습니다.’ 이렇게 말씀을 드려 둘 터이니, 33 바로께서 형님들을 부르셔서 ‘그대들의 생업이 무엇이오?’ 하고 물으시거든, 34 ‘종들은 어렸을 때부터 줄곧 집짐승을 길러온 사람들입니다. 우리와 우리 조상이 다 그러합니다’ 하고 대답하셔야 합니다. 그래야 형님들이 고센 땅에 정착하실 수 있습니다. 이집트 사람은 목자라고 하면, 생각할 것도 없이 꺼리기 때문에, 가까이 하지 않습니다.” 47 :1요셉이 바로에게 가서 아뢰었다. “저의 아버지와 형제들이 소 떼와 양 떼를 몰고, 모든 재산을 챙겨가지고, 가나안 땅을 떠나서, 지금은 고센 땅에 와 있습니다.” 2 요셉은 형들 가운데서 다섯 사람을 뽑아서 바로에게 소개하였다. 3 바로가 그 형제들에게 물었다. “그대들은 생업이 무엇이오?” 그들이 바로에게 대답하였다. “임금님의 종들은 목자들입니다. 우리 조상들도 마찬가지였습니다.” 4 그들은 또 그에게 말하였다. “소인들은 여기에 잠시 머무르려고 왔습니다. 가나안 땅에는 기근이 심하여, 소 떼가 풀을 뜯을 풀밭이 없습니다. 그러하오니, 소인들이 고센 땅에 머무를 수 있도록 허락하여 주시기를 바랍니다.” 5 바로가 요셉에게 대답하였다. “그대의 아버지와 형제들이 그대에게로 왔소. 6 이집트 땅이 그대 앞에 있으니, 그대의 아버지와 형제들이 이 땅에서 가장 좋은 곳에서 살도록 거주지를 마련하시오. 그들이 고센 땅에서 살도록 주선하시오. 형제들 가운데서, 특별한 능력이 있는 사람들을 그대가 알면, 그들이 나의 짐승을 맡아 돌보도록 하시오.” 7 요셉은 자기 아버지 야곱을 모시고 와서, 바로를 만나게 하였다. 야곱이 바로를 축복하고 나니, 8 바로가 야곱에게 말하였다. “어른께서는 연세가 어떻게 되시오?” 9 야곱이 바로에게 대답하였다. “이 세상을 떠돌아다닌 햇수가 백 년 하고도 삼십 년입니다. 저의 조상들이 세상을 떠돌던 햇수에 비하면, 제가 누린 햇수는 얼마 되지 않지만, 험악한 세월을 보냈습니다.” 10 야곱이 다시 바로에게 축복하고, 그 앞에서 물러났다. 11 요셉은 자기 아버지와 형제들을 이집트 땅에서 살게 하고, 바로가 지시한 대로, 그 땅에서 가장 좋은 곳인 라암세스 지역을 그들의 소유지로 주었다. 12 요셉은, 자기 아버지와 형제들과 아버지의 온 집안에, 식구 수에 따라서 먹거리를 대어 주었다.
