[ Psalms 146:1 - 146:10 ] (Hymn413)

1Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, O my soul!
2 I will praise the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
3 Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.
4 When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.
5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,
6 who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever;
7 who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free;
8 the LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous.
9 The LORD watches over the sojourners; he upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.
10 The LORD will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD!

1할렐루야. 내 영혼아, 주님을 찬양하여라.
2 내가 평생토록 주님을 찬양하며 내가 살아 있는 한, 내 하나님을 찬양하겠다.
3 너희는 힘 있는 고관을 의지하지 말며, 구원할 능력이 없는 사람을 의지하지 말아라.
4 사람은 숨 한 번 끊어지면 흙으로 돌아가니, 그가 세운 모든 계획이 바로 그 날로 다 사라지고 만다.
5 야곱의 하나님을 자기의 도움으로 삼고 자기의 하나님이신 주님께 희망을 거는 사람은, 복이 있다.
6 주님은, 하늘과 땅과 바다 속에 있는 모든 것을 지으시며, 영원히 신의를 지키시며,
7 억눌린 사람을 위해 공의로 재판하시며, 굶주린 사람에게 먹을 것을 주시며, 감옥에 갇힌 죄수를 석방시켜 주시며
8 눈먼 사람에게 눈을 뜨게 해주시고, 낮은 곳에 있는 사람을 일으켜 세우시는 분이시다. 주님은 의인을 사랑하시고,
9 나그네를 지켜 주시고, 고아와 과부를 도와주시지만 악인의 길은 멸망으로 이끄신다.
10 시온아, 주님께서 영원히 다스리신다! 나의 하나님께서 대대로 다스리신다! 할렐루야.

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding
The psalmist declares that he will praise God with all his heart for the rest of his life. He places his trust in God alone, remembering how God’s faithfulness has guided him throughout his life. Human beings are finite—formed from dust and destined to return it—and cannot offer salvation. On the other hand, God is the Creator who cares for the weak and brings about justice. Therefore, those who rely on him are truly blessed, and those who experience his loving care, like the psalmist, respond with praise (vv. 1-10).
시인은 온 마음을 다해 평생동안 하나님을 찬양하겠다고 고백합니다. 그는 사람 대신 하나님만 의지했으며, 신실하신 하나님이 삶을 이끌어 주셨음을 기억합니다. 사람은 흙에서 왔다가 흙으로 돌아가는 유한한 존재로, 구원을 줄 수 없습니다. 반면 하나님은 약자를 돌보고 정의를 이루는 창조주이십니다. 그래서 하나님을 의지하는 자는 복이 있으며, 그분의 돌보심을 경험한 자는 시인처럼 하나님을 찬양하게 됩니다(1-10절).

Who is God?
Vv. 8-9 God cares for the oppressed, the hungry, the imprisoned, the blind, and the lowly. When you look down on the world from a place of pride, you cannot see God; but when you look up to the heavens from a place of humility, you meet his loving gaze, the gaze of the one who restores order in the world and gives hope to the weak.
억눌리고 굶주리며 갇힌 자, 눈먼 자, 비천한 자를 돌보시는 분입니다. 높은 자리에서 세상을 내려다보면 하나님이 보이지 않지만, 낮은 자리에서 하늘을 우러를 때 하나님의 눈길과 마주치게 됩니다. 그분은 세상의 질서를 바로잡으며, 약자에게 소망을 주십니다.

What lesson is God teaching me?
Vv. 3-5 It is foolish to entrust one's life to another person. No matter how powerful someone may be, they cannot bring salvation; only God is worthy of our trust for both this life and eternity. When we rely on God, we find true peace and confidence.
사람에게 인생을 맡기는 것은 어리석은 일입니다. 아무리 힘 있는 자라도 누군가를 구원할 수는 없습니다. 나의 삶과 영원한 운명을 온전히 맡길 분은 하나님뿐입니다. 하나님을 의지할 때, 비로소 참된 평안과 확신이 생깁니다.

Dear God, help us rely on you alone, the one who cares for the weak. May I praise your name in every area of my life.
