FAITH AND FALSE ACCUSATION		믿음과 거짓 비난
[ Nehemiah 6:1 - 6:9 ] - hymn 400 I prayed, “Now strengthen my hands.” [ NEHEMIAH 6:9 ] Driven by powerful winds, the fire raged for days. The historian Tacitus describes a chaotic scene filled with screams and citizens running for their lives. In the end, nearly two-thirds of Rome had been destroyed. The Roman emperor Nero falsely accused believers in Jesus of starting the fire. He hated Christians and selected them to be the scapegoat for the disaster—one that was rumored to have been ordered by Nero himself! Nehemiah also faced the blistering heat of false accusation. He’d been a servant to the king of Persia but had been allowed to return to Jerusalem with other Israelites to repair its walls (NEHEMIAH 2:1-10). When the wall was repaired, however, enemies accused the Jews of “planning to rebel” and making Nehemiah “their king” (6:6 NLT). How did they respond to false accusations? By declaring and living out their innocence (V. 8), courageously standing in God’s power (V. 11), and praying fervently to Him (V. 14). Their enemies were ultimately “frightened and humiliated” as they “realized [the wall reconstruction] had been done with the help of . . . God” (V. 16 NLT). At times, we’ll be falsely accused by others. But as God provides the strength we need, we can forgive our accusers and “live such good lives” that, though “they accuse [us] of doing wrong, they may see [our] good deeds and glorify God” (1 PETER 2:12). TOM FELTEN		[ 느헤미야 6:1 - 6:9 ] - 찬송가 400 장 이제 내 손을 힘있게 하옵소서 하였노라 [느헤미야 6:9] 강풍으로 화재가 며칠 동안 맹위를 떨치고 있었습니다. 역사가 타키투스는 시민들이 비명을 지르며 살기 위해 이리 저리 뛰는 혼란스러운 상황을 묘사하고 있습니다. 결국 로마의 3분의 2 정도가 파괴되었는데, 로마 황제 네로는 예수 믿는 사람들이 불을 낸 것이라고 거짓으로 고발했습니다. 기독교인들을 증오했던 네로는 이 재앙의 희생양으로 그들을 선택한 것입니다. 그러나 사실은 네로 황제 본인이 직접 지시한 방화였다는 소문이 돌았습니다! 느헤미야 또한 거짓 고발자들의 맹렬한 비난에 직면한 적이 있었습니다. 페르시아 왕의 신하였던 그는 이스라엘 백성들과 함께 예루살렘으로 돌아가 성벽을 수리하도록 허락받았습니다(느헤미야 2:1-10). 그러나 성벽이 수리되자, 적들은 유대인들이 “반역을 계획하고” 느헤미야를 “왕”으로 삼았다고 비난 했습니다(6:6). 이스라엘 백성들은 이런 거짓 고발에 어떻게 대응했습니까? 자신들의 결백을 선언하고 실천했으며(8절), 하나님의 권능 안에 담대히 서서 (11절) 하나님께 간절히 기도했습니다(14절). “하나님께서 [성벽 재건을] 이루신 것을 안” 적들은 결국 다 “두려워하여 크게 낙담하였습니다”(16절). 때때로 우리는 다른 사람들로부터 거짓 비난을 받을 수 있지만, 하나님께로부터 필요한 힘을 공급받아 우리를 비난하는 사람들을 용서하고 “선한 삶을 살아갈” 수 있습니다. 그렇게 함으로써 “[우리를] 악행한다고 비방 하는 자들이 [우리의] 선한 일을 보고... 하나님께 영광을 돌리게” 될 것입니다 (베드로전서 2:12).

Loving God, thank You for helping me when I’m falsely accused.

1 When word came to Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab and the rest of our enemies that I had rebuilt the wall and not a gap was left in it—though up to that time I had not set the doors in the gates—

2 Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono.” But they were scheming to harm me;

3 so I sent messengers to them with this reply: “I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?”

4 Four times they sent me the same message, and each time I gave them the same answer.

5 Then, the fifth time, Sanballat sent his aide to me with the same message, and in his hand was an unsealed letter

6 in which was written: “It is reported among the nations—and Geshem says it is true—that you and the Jews are plotting to revolt, and therefore you are building the wall. Moreover, according to these reports you are about to become their king

7 and have even appointed prophets to make this proclamation about you in Jerusalem: ‘There is a king in Judah!’ Now this report will get back to the king; so come, let us meet together.”

8 I sent him this reply: “Nothing like what you are saying is happening; you are just making it up out of your head.”

9 They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.” But I prayed, “Now strengthen my hands.”

예수님을 믿는 사람들이 때때로 거짓 비난을 받는 이유는 무엇일까요?
어떻게 믿음을 용기 있게 실천하며 살아갈 수 있을까요?

사랑의 하나님, 제가 허위로 고발당할 때 도와주시니 감사합니다.

1 산발랏과 도비야와 아라비아 사람 게셈과 그 나머지 우리의 원수들이 내가 성벽을 건축하여 허물어진 틈을 남기지 아니하였다 함을 들었는데 그 때는 내가 아직 성문에 문짝을 달지 못한 때였더라

2 산발랏과 게셈이 내게 사람을 보내어 이르기를 오라 우리가 오노 평지 한 촌에서 서로 만나자 하니 실상은 나를 해하고자 함이었더라

3 내가 곧 그들에게 사자들을 보내어 이르기를 내가 이제 큰 역사를 하니 내려가지 못하겠노라 어찌하여 역사를 중지하게 하고 너희에게로 내려가겠느냐 하매

4 그들이 네 번이나 이같이 내게 사람을 보내되 나는 꼭 같이 대답하였더니

5 산발랏이 다섯 번째는 그 종자의 손에 봉하지 않은 편지를 들려 내게 보냈는데

6 그 글에 이르기를 이방 중에도 소문이 있고 가스무도 말하기를 너와 유다 사람들이 모반하려 하여 성벽을 건축한다 하나니 네가 그 말과 같이 왕이 되려 하는도다

7 또 네가 선지자를 세워 예루살렘에서 너를 들어 선전하기를 유다에 왕이 있다 하게 하였으니 지금 이 말이 왕에게 들릴지라 그런즉 너는 이제 오라 함께 의논하자 하였기로

8 내가 사람을 보내어 그에게 이르기를 네가 말한 바 이런 일은 없는 일이요 네 마음에서 지어낸 것이라 하였나니

9 이는 그들이 다 우리를 두렵게 하고자 하여 말하기를 그들의 손이 피곤하여 역사를 중지하고 이루지 못하리라 함이라 이제 내 손을 힘있게 하옵소서 하였노라
