SLOW ANGER		노하기를 더디 하심
[ Joel 2:12 - 2:18 ] - hymn 393 [The Lord] is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. [ JOEL 2:13 ] “Slow television” is the term used to describe marathon coverage of an event, typically shown in real-time. The genre gained popularity in 2009 after the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation broadcast a seven-hour train journey. Yes, seven hours, on a train. Sounds . . . boring. But it’s gained an audience that finds the scenic ride mesmerizing. The concept behind slow TV is to show something at the rate it’s experienced instead of the speed with which a narrative drama is told. It’s built around transition and movement instead of tension and plot. Slow TV is a step toward savoring life’s minutes as opposed to counting them. The poet Francis Thompson wrote of God’s “unperturbed pace.” Thompson meant that God moves methodically, patiently, with steps measured and intentional. We see this slowness even with God’s emotions. In Scripture, the prophet Joel’s call for the people of Judah to repent is grounded in the reality that our God is “slow to anger” (JOEL 2:13). Unlike our dramatic nar-ratives, often fueled by tempers and flying-off-the-handle selfishness, God takes a different approach. His anger arrives slowly. To a people who had rebelled against Him, God says, “Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God” (V. 13). God’s anger isn’t like ours. He’s slow to anger, a reality that allows us to return to Him with all our hearts. JOHN BLASE		[ 요엘 2:12 - 2:18 ] - 찬송가 393 장 주는 은혜로우시며 자비로우시며 노하기를 더디 하시며 인애가 크시사 [요엘 2:13] “슬로우 텔레비전”은 어떤 한 이벤트를 실시간으로 장시간 동안 중계 하는 방송을 일컫는 용어입니다. 이 장르는 2009년 노르웨이 방송국이 7시간짜리 기차 여행을 방송하면서 인기를 얻기 시작했습니다. 정말 7시간 동안 기차에서 방송한 것입니다. 지루했을 것 같은 이 방송은 시청자들을 경치 좋은 기차 여행의 즐거움에 푹 빠지게 했습니다. 슬로우 TV라는 컨셉은 드라마의 서사가 전개되는 속도가 아닌 어떤 일을 실제 경험되는 속도로 보여준다는 데 있습니다. 긴장감과 각본이 아닌 실제 이동과 움직임으로 구성되어 있습니다. 슬로우 TV는 시간을 세어가며 살기보다 시간을 음미하며 사는 쪽으로 한 걸음 나아간 시도라고 할 수 있습니다. 프랜시스 톰슨 시인은 하나님의 “흔들림 없는 발걸음”이라는 표현을 썼습 니다. 톰슨은 그 말에서 하나님은 체계적으로, 인내심 있게, 신중하고 의도적인 발걸음으로 움직이신다는 것을 의미했습니다. 이렇게 천천히 움직이는 모습은 하나님의 감정에서도 그대로 나타납니다. 성경에서 요엘 선지자가 유다 백성의 회개를 촉구한 것도 하나님이 “노하기를 더디” 하신다는 사실에 바탕을 두고 있습니다(요엘 2:13). 격정과 고삐 풀린 이기심의 동력으로 굴러가는 우리의 극적인 인생사와 달리 하나님은 다른 방식을 취하십니다. 하나님의 분노는 느리게 임합니다. 그분은 자신을 배반한 백성들에게 이렇게 말씀하십니다. “너희는 옷을 찢지 말고 마음을 찢고 너희 하나님 여호와께로 돌아올지어다”(13절). 하나님의 분노는 우리의 분노와 다릅니다. 그분은 노하기를 더디 하십니다. 이 사실 때문에 우리는 온 마음 다해 그분께 돌아갈 수 있는 것입니다.

Dear God, You’re slow to anger, and I’m ever thankful.

12 “Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.”

13 Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.

14 Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave behind a blessing— grain offerings and drink offerings for the LORD your God.

15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly.

16 Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber.

17 Let the priests, who minister before the LORD, weep between the portico and the altar. Let them say, “Spare your people, LORD. Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’ ”

18 Then the LORD was jealous for his land and took pity on his people.

12 ○여호와의 말씀에 너희는 이제라도 금식하고 울며 애통하고 마음을 다하여 내게로 돌아오라 하셨나니

13 너희는 옷을 찢지 말고 마음을 찢고 너희 하나님 여호와께로 돌아올지어다 그는 은혜로우시며 자비로우시며 노하기를 더디하시며 인애가 크시사 뜻을 돌이켜 재앙을 내리지 아니하시나니

14 주께서 혹시 마음과 뜻을 돌이키시고 그 뒤에 복을 내리사 너희 하나님 여호와께 소제와 전제를 드리게 하지 아니하실는지 누가 알겠느냐

15 ○너희는 시온에서 나팔을 불어 거룩한 금식일을 정하고 성회를 소집하라

16 백성을 모아 그 모임을 거룩하게 하고 장로들을 모으며 어린이와 젖 먹는 자를 모으며 신랑을 그 방에서 나오게 하며 신부도 그 신방에서 나오게 하고

17 여호와를 섬기는 제사장들은 낭실과 제단 사이에서 울며 이르기를 여호와여 주의 백성을 불쌍히 여기소서 주의 기업을 욕되게 하여 나라들로 그들을 관할하지 못하게 하옵소서 어찌하여 이방인으로 그들의 하나님이 어디 있느냐 말하게 하겠나이까 할지어다

18 ○그 때에 여호와께서 자기의 땅을 극진히 사랑하시어 그의 백성을 불쌍히 여기실 것이라
