[ 2 Timothy 4:1 - 4:8 ] - hymn 314 Discharge all the duties of your ministry. [ 2 TIMOTHY 4:5 ] On a Thursday, in the church’s fellowship hall, sandwiches and watermelon slices were set out, waiting to be con-sumed by mourners sitting on metal folding chairs placed on stained carpet. It was a perfectly normal funeral, except for the preacher. He was a well-known speaker who has preached to stadiums full of thousands. Now he was speaking just as enthusiastically to this weekday gathering. Paul told his protégé Timothy, “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season discharge all the duties of your ministry” (2 TIMOTHY 4:2-5). All the duties. Not only the big ones performed on large stages with bright lights. Also ordinary, weekday duties. The speeches that won’t be recorded and broadcast for generations to come. The tasks that few will see. Do those well too. Because someone is watching. Paul told Timothy he was serving “in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead” (4:1). Your platform may be small, but your audience could not be more important. Jesus waits expectantly for your service. Do it for Him, relying on the power of His Spirit. He will be honored as you humbly, faithfully minis-ter to others. MIKE WITTMER		[ 디모데후서 4:1 - 4:8 ] - 찬송가 314 장 전도자의 일을 하며 네 직무를 다하라 [디모데후서 4:5] 어느 목요일, 교회 친교실에 샌드위치와 수박을 썰어 놓았습니다.이것은 얼룩진 카펫 위의 접이식 철제 의자에 앉아 있는 조문객들을 위해 준비한 것이었습니다. 설교하는 목사님만 빼놓고는 장례식은 모든 것이 평범했습니다. 목사님은 수천 명이 모인 경기장에서도 설교해 온 유명한 분이었습니다. 그 목사님은 평일의 이 작은 모임에서도 똑같이 열정을 다해 설교를 하였습니다. 바울은 제자 디모데에게 이렇게 말했습니다. “너는 말씀을 전파하라 때를 얻든지 못 얻든지 항상 힘쓰라... 전도자의 일을 하며 네 직무를 다하라”(4:2-5). 여기서 ‘모든 직무’란 화려한 조명 아래 큰 무대에서 진행되는 대규모 행사뿐 아니라 일상적인 평일의 행사도 다 포함됩니다. 그런 설교들은 다음 세대를 위한 녹음도, 방송도 되지 않을 것입니다. 보려고 오는 사람도 거의 없을 것입니다. 그러나 그런 일들도 다 잘해야 합니다. 그 이유는 중요한 분이 보고 계시기 때문입니다. 바울은 디모데에게 그가 “살아 있는 자와 죽은 자를 심판하실 하나님과 그리스도 예수 앞에서”(4:1) 섬기고 있다고 말했습니다. 당신의 무대는 작더라도 듣는 관중은 무엇보다 중요합니다. 예수님은 당신의 섬김을 기대하며 기다리고 계십니다. 성령님의 능력에 의지하여 예수님을 위해 섬기십시오. 당신이 겸손하고 신실하게 다른 이들을 섬길 때 하나님께서 영광을 받으실 것입니다.

How much heart are you putting into your everyday tasks? How would God have you think about
your ordinary jobs on this ordinary day?

Heavenly Father, may I serve You and others faithfully today.

1. In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge:
2. Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction.
3. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
4. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
5. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

6. For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure.
7. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
8. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

당신은 일상적인 일들에 얼마나 마음을 쏟고 있습니까? 하나님은 이 평범한 날, 당신이 일상적인 일들을 어떻게 대하기를 원하실까요?

하늘에 계신 아버지, 오늘 하나님과 다른 이들을 신실하게 섬기게 해주소서.

1. 하나님 앞과 살아 있는 자와 죽은 자를 심판하실 그리스도 예수 앞에서 그가 나타나실 것과 그의 나라를 두고 엄히 명하노니
2. 너는 말씀을 전파하라 때를 얻든지 못 얻든지 항상 힘쓰라 범사에 오래 참음과 가르침으로 경책하며 경계하며 권하라
3. 때가 이르리니 사람이 바른 교훈을 받지 아니하며 귀가 가려워서 자기의 사욕을 따를 스승을 많이 두고
4. 또 그 귀를 진리에서 돌이켜 허탄한 이야기를 따르리라
5. 그러나 너는 모든 일에 신중하여 고난을 받으며 전도자의 일을 하며 네 직무를 다하라
6. 전제와 같이 내가 벌써 부어지고 나의 떠날 시각이 가까웠도다
7. 나는 선한 싸움을 싸우고 나의 달려갈 길을 마치고 믿음을 지켰으니
8. 이제 후로는 나를 위하여 의의 면류관이 예비되었으므로 주 곧 의로우신 재판장이 그 날에 내게 주실 것이며 내게만 아니라 주의 나타나심을 사모하는 모든 자에게도니라
