FOLLOW GOD’S WAY		하나님의 길을 따르라
[ Haggai 1:1 - 1:11 ] - hymn 516 The Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways.” [ HAGGAI 1:5 ] Ken avoided the migrant workers in his building. Their hab-its and way of life, so different from his, annoyed him. One day, however, while Ken was praying, a thought pierced him: They’ve been your neighbors for years, yet not once have you shared the gospel with them. Think carefully about your attitude towards them. Scripture tells us of when God confronted the Israelites with a similar warning: “Give careful thought to your ways” (HAGGAI 1:7). After their captivity in Babylon, His people returned to Jerusalem, tasked to rebuild the temple. God had “moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia” (EZRA 1:1) to order the construction and provide funds (VV. 2-4). But after the people laid the foundation, opposi-tion grew (4:1-5), so they neglected the project for fourteen years. Through the prophet Haggai, God told them, “Give careful thought to your ways. . . . My house . . . remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house” (HAGGAI 1:7, 9). God was saying, “Think carefully about how you’re living. Are you doing what I want you to do?” God disciplined His people (VV. 5-11), but when they resumed construction, He encouraged them: “I am with you Do not fear” (2:4-5). And the temple was completed in less than five years. In what area of life do we need to “give careful thought to [our] ways”? Let’s ask God to show us and help us follow His correction. KAREN HUANG		[ 학개 1:1 - 1:11 ] - 찬송가 516 장 그러므로 이제 만군의 여호와가 이같이 말하노니 너희는 너희의 행위를 살필지니라 [학개 1:5] 켄은 같은 건물에 사는 이주 노동자들을 기피했습니다. 자기와는 너무나 다른 그들의 습관과 생활 방식이 그에게 거슬렸던 것입니다. 그러던 어느 날 기도를 하던 중, 한가지 생각이 켄의 마음에 파고 들어왔습니다. ‘그 사람들은 몇 년째 너와 이웃인데 너는 한 번도 복음을 전한 적이 없구나. 그 사람들에 대한 너의 태도를 한번 잘 생각해 보아라.’ 성경은 이와 비슷하게 하나님이 이스라엘 백성에게 “너희는 자기의 행위를 살필지니라”(학개 1:7)라고 경고하신 것을 기록합니다. 바빌론 포로 생활을 마치고 예루살렘에 돌아온 하나님의 백성들은 성전을 재건하기 시작했습니다. 하나님이 “바사왕 고레스의 마음을 감동시키매”(에스라 1:1) 성전 재건을 명령 하고 비용을 대도록 만드셨습니다(2-4절). 그러나 그들이 성전의 기초를 놓은 후 반대가 커졌고(4:1-5) 공사는 14년 동안 지연되었습니다. 하나님은 학개 선지자를 통해 말씀하셨습니다. “너희는 자기의 행위를 살필지니라... 내 집은 황폐하였으되, 너희는 각각 자기의 집을 짓기 위하여 빨랐 음이라”(학개 1:7,9). 하나님은 “너희가 어떻게 살고 있는지 잘 생각해 보아라. 내가 원하는 일을 하고 있는 것이냐?”라고 물으신 것입니다. 하나님은 그들을 훈계하셨지만(5-11절), 공사를 다시 시작하는 그들을 격려 하셨습니다. “내가 너희와 함께 하노라... 두려워하지 말지어다”(2:4-5). 그리고 5년도 되지 않아 성전은 완성되었습니다. 삶의 어떤 영역에서 “(우리의) 사는 방법을 잘 생각해 보아야” 할까요? 하나님이 우리에게 보여주시고 고쳐주시는 것을 따르게 해달라고 간구합시다.

1 In the second year of King Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the LORD came through the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest:

5 Now this is what the LORD Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways.

6 You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.”

7 This is what the LORD Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways.

8 Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build my house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the LORD.

9 “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the LORD Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house.

10 Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops.

11 I called for a drought on the fields and the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the olive oil and everything else the ground produces, on people and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands.”

하나님의 길과 당신의 길은 어떻게 다른가요?
하나님께 온전히 순종하려면 무엇을 바꿔야 할까요?

5 그러므로 이제 만군의 여호와가 이같이 말하노니 너희는 너희의 행위를 살필지니라

6 너희가 많이 뿌릴지라도 수확이 적으며 먹을지라도 배부르지 못하며 마실지라도 흡족하지 못하며 입어도 따뜻하지 못하며 일꾼이 삯을 받아도 그것을 구멍 뚫어진 전대에 넣음이 되느니라

7 ○만군의 여호와가 말하노니 너희는 자기의 행위를 살필지니라

8 너희는 산에 올라가서 나무를 가져다가 성전을 건축하라 그리하면 내가 그것으로 말미암아 기뻐하고 또 영광을 얻으리라 여호와가 말하였느니라

9 너희가 많은 것을 바랐으나 도리어 적었고 너희가 그것을 집으로 가져갔으나 내가 불어 버렸느니라 나 만군의 여호와가 말하노라 이것이 무슨 까닭이냐 내 집은 황폐하였으되 너희는 각각 자기의 집을 짓기 위하여 빨랐음이라

10 그러므로 너희로 말미암아 하늘은 이슬을 그쳤고 땅은 산물을 그쳤으며

11 내가 이 땅과 산과 곡물과 새 포도주와 기름과 땅의 모든 소산과 사람과 가축과 손으로 수고하는 모든 일에 한재를 들게 하였느니라
