SHINING FACES		빛나는 얼굴
[ Exodus 34:29 - 34:35 ] - hymn 428 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant. [ EXODUS 34:30 ] “He has a sugar face!” our vet exclaimed as she gave our young dog his annual checkup. “A sugar face?” I asked. “It’s a term used for retrievers whose faces turn pre-maturely white,” she replied, smiling. “It’s just a sign of the sweetness inside.” Reflecting on that moment later, I thought about what shows up on my face when others meet me. Do they catch a glimpse of “the sweetness inside,” the transforming power of Jesus’ love in my heart and life? The Bible tells of the breathtaking moments when Moses came down from Mount Sinai after spending days in God’s presence. Moses “was not aware that his face was radi-ant because he had spoken with the Lord,” so radiant that the people “were afraid to come near him” (EXODUS 34:29-30). To avoid frightening them further, Moses “put a veil over his face” and removed it when “he went in to speak with the Lord” (VV. 33, 35). Moses was of course literally speaking with God “face to face” (33:11), a unique moment in the Bible. But Scripture also reminds us that we who know God through Christ “are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory” (2 CORINTHIANS 3:18). His presence within us can be winsome to others—a work of God’s love. Our faces may not shine like Moses’ did, but as we spend time in God’s presence, He’ll become increasingly evident in us. JAMES BANKS		[ 출애굽기 34:29 - 34:35 ] - 찬송가 428 장 아론과 온 이스라엘 자손이 모세를 볼 때에 모세의 얼굴 피부에 광채가 남을 보고 [출애굽기 34:30] 수의사가 우리 강아지를 정기 검진하다가 크게 말했습니다. “얘는 슈가 페이스(sugar face)네요!” “슈가 페이스요?” 내가 물으니 수의사는 웃으며 이렇게 말했습니다. “리트리버 종 중에 얼굴이 일찍 희어지는 경우가 있는데, 그걸 그렇게 불러요. 그냥 속에 있는 아름다운 성품이 겉으로 나오는 거죠.” 후에 그 일을 생각해보다가 사람들이 나를 만나면 내 얼굴에서 무엇을 볼까 생각했습니다. 사람들은 내 안에 있는 “아름다운 성품”, 곧 내 마음과 삶을 바꾸어 놓으신 예수님의 사랑의 힘을 보게 될까요? 성경은 모세가 하나님의 임재 안에서 여러 날을 보내고 시내산에서 내려올 때 있었던 놀라운 장면을 전합니다. 모세는 “자기가 여호와와 말하였음으로 말미암아 얼굴에 광채가 나나 깨닫지 못하였는데”, 그 광채로 인해 사람들이 “그에게 가까이 하기를 두려워 하였다”고 했습니다(출애굽기 34:29–30). 그래서 모세는 그들을 더 놀라게 하지 않으려고 “수건으로 자기 얼굴을 가리고...여호와께 말하러 들어갈 때에만” 수건을 벗었습니다(33, 35절). 사실 모세는 실제로 하나님과 “대면하여”(33:11) 대화했던, 성경에서도 유일한 순간을 경험했습니다. 그러나 성경은 우리도 그리스도를 통해 하나님을 알게 되면 “그와 같은 형상으로 변화하여 영광에서 영광에 이른다”고 말씀합니다 (고린도후서 3:18). 우리 안에 하나님이 임재하시면 하나님의 사랑이 역사하여 다른 이들의 마음을 살 수가 있습니다. 우리의 얼굴이 모세처럼 빛나지는 않아도 하나님의 임재 안에 거할수록 하나님이 우리 안에서 점점 더 드러나실 것입니다.

29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD.

30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him.

31 But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them.

32 Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai.

33 When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face.

34 But whenever he entered the LORD's presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded,

35 they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the LORD.

29 ○모세가 그 증거의 두 판을 모세의 손에 들고 시내 산에서 내려오니 그 산에서 내려올 때에 모세는 자기가 여호와와 말하였음으로 말미암아 얼굴 피부에 광채가 나나 깨닫지 못하였더라

30 아론과 온 이스라엘 자손이 모세를 볼 때에 모세의 얼굴 피부에 광채가 남을 보고 그에게 가까이 하기를 두려워하더니

31 모세가 그들을 부르매 아론과 회중의 모든 어른이 모세에게로 오고 모세가 그들과 말하니

32 그 후에야 온 이스라엘 자손이 가까이 오는지라 모세가 여호와께서 시내 산에서 자기에게 이르신 말씀을 다 그들에게 명령하고

33 모세가 그들에게 말하기를 마치고 수건으로 자기 얼굴을 가렸더라

34 그러나 모세가 여호와 앞에 들어가서 함께 말할 때에는 나오기까지 수건을 벗고 있다가 나와서는 그 명령하신 일을 이스라엘 자손에게 전하며

35 이스라엘 자손이 모세의 얼굴의 광채를 보므로 모세가 여호와께 말하러 들어가기까지 다시 수건으로 자기 얼굴을 가렸더라
