JESUS’ WITNESS		예수님의 증인
[ Acts 22:12 - 22:16 ] - hymn 502 You will be [Jesus’] witness to all people of what you have seen and heard. [ ACTS 22:15 ] I’ve heard it said, “We can’t make our children believe. We can only give our children reason to believe what we believe.” That’s a wise observation—but how do we do it? Of all people to take parenting advice from, the apostle Paul is seldom the first choice. It’s likely that he had no children. Parents prefer to hear from someone who’s been there, done that, someone who knows about sleepless infants, the storms of puberty, and how it feels to pray for a prodigal. Yet Paul (or Saul) has something to teach us here. Saul had been on his way to persecute Christians when Christ intervened. This man fell to the ground, blinded (ACTS 9:1-9). Soon he was visited by Ananias, who restored his sight and explained his mission: “The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and to hear words from his mouth. You will be his witness to all people of what you have seen and heard” (22:14-15). Saul, later called Paul, did witness, and God gave him a quiverful of spiritual offspring. His “parenting approach” was to share what he’d seen, and to pray. Whether parenting our own children or interacting with oth-ers, we can’t make them believe. Rather, we witness with our words and lives as to what we’ve seen and heard. And we pray. Our God, who sent Paul to the gentiles, sends us with the same instruction: Witness so they may believe. Then entrust them to our Father, who loves them. JOHN BLASE		[ 사도행전 22:12 - 22:16 ] - 찬송가 502 장 네가 그를 위하여 모든 사람 앞에서 네가 보고 들은 것에 증인이 되리라 [사도행전 22:15] 나는 이런 말을 들어보았습니다. “우리는 자녀들에게 믿음을 강요할 수 없다. 그러나 우리가 믿는 것을 아이들도 믿어야 하는 이유를 말해줄 수는 있다.” 지혜로운 말입니다. 그러나 어떻게 말해주어야 할까요? 양육에 관해 조언해줄 사람을 찾을 때 바울 사도가 쉽게 떠오르지 않는 이유는 아마도 그에게 자녀가 없었기 때문일 것입니다. 부모들은 밤새 보채는 아기와 질풍 같은 청소년기, 빗나가는 자식을 위해 기도하는 마음이 어떤 것인지 직접 경험해 본 사람들의 이야기를 듣고 싶어 합니다. 그럼에도 바울(사울)은 이에 대해 우리에게 어떤 교훈을 주고 있습니다. 사울은 그리스도인들을 박해하러 가던 길에 그리스도를 만났습니다. 땅에 엎드려진 그는 눈도 멀었습니다(사도행전 9:1-9). 곧 아나니아가 찾아와 그의 시력을 회복시키고 그에게 할 일을 말해주었습니다. “우리 조상들의 하나님이 너를 택하여 너로 하여금 자기 뜻을 알게 하시며 그 의인을 보게 하시고 그 입에서 나오는 음성을 듣게 하셨으니 네가 그를 위하여 모든 사람 앞에서 네가 보고 들은 것에 증인이 되리라”(22:14-15). 후에 바울이라 불린 사울은 그대로 증인이 되었고, 하나님은 그에게 많은 영적 자녀를 주셨습니다. 그의 “양육 방식”은 자신이 본 사실을 전해주고 기도하는 것이었습니다. 자녀를 키우거나 남들을 대하면서 우리는 억지로 믿게 할 수 없습니다. 대신 우리가 보고 들은 것을 말과 삶으로 증언하며 기도할 뿐입니다. 하나님은 바울을 이방인들에게 보내신 것처럼 우리도 보내시며 그들도 믿을 수 있도록 증언하라고 하십니다. 그러고 나서 그들을 사랑하시는 우리 하나님 아버지께 맡기십시오.

12 “A man named Ananias came to see me. He was a devout observer of the law and highly respected by all the Jews living there.

13 He stood beside me and said, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight!’ And at that very moment I was able to see him.

14 “Then he said: ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and to hear words from his mouth.

15 You will be his witness to all people of what you have seen and heard.

16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’

15 네가 그를 위하여 모든 사람 앞에서 네가 보고 들은 것에 증인이 되리라

16 이제는 왜 주저하느냐 일어나 주의 이름을 불러 세례를 받고 너의 죄를 씻으라 하더라
