ACTING ON GOD’S PROMISES		하나님의 약속을 믿고 행함
[ Genesis 50:22 - 50:26 ] - hymn 546 Joseph . . . said, “God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up from this place.” [ GENESIS 50:25 ] Pieter kisses a framed picture of his elderly parents every night. It’s been many years since he was last with them. As a young adult, when he became a follower of Jesus, his family and community pressured him to give up his newfound belief. When he didn’t, his parents disowned him. “In the Bible, God promised He’d help His children in difficult times, and I believed Him,” Pieter said. “Choosing to follow Him brought suffering, but He has helped me endure.” Pieter has the assurance from God that He keeps His word, so Pieter is able to trustingly act on God’s promises. We read in Genesis that Joseph, at the end of his life, was also confident in the promises of God. He told his brothers, “I am about to die. But God will surely come to your aid and take you up out of this land to the land he promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob” (GENESIS 50:24). Joseph was sure that God would keep His promise to take His people to Canaan. So he instructed the Israelites, “You must carry my bones up from [Egypt]” (V. 25). Four hundred years later, during the exodus from Egypt, “Moses took the bones of Joseph with him” (EXODUS 13:19). Eventually, “Joseph’s bones, which the Israelites had brought up from Egypt, were buried at Shechem [in Canaan]” (JOSHUA 24:32). Let’s follow Joseph’s example of faith (HEBREWS 11:22), show-ing our faith in God’s promises by acting on them. KAREN HUANG		[ 창세기 50:22 - 50:26 ] - 찬송가 546 장 요셉이 이르기를 하나님이 반드시 당신들을 돌보시리니 당신들은 여기서 내 해골을 메고 올라가겠다 하라 [창세기 50:25] 피터는 매일 밤, 액자 속에 담긴 노부모의 사진에 입을 맞춥니다. 그가 부모님을 마지막으로 본 지는 이미 오래되었습니다. 젊은 시절 예수님을 믿게 되었을 때, 그는 가족과 공동체로부터 신앙을 포기하라는 심한압박을 받았습니다. 그가 따르지 않자, 부모는 결국 피터와 부모자식의 연을 끊었습니다. “성경에서 하나님은 어려운 때에 그 분의 자녀를 도와 주시겠다고 약속하셨어요. 저는 하나님의 말씀을 믿습니다.” 피터는 말했습니다. “하나님을 따르는 일은 제게 고난을 가져왔지만, 그분은 제게 견딜 힘을 주셨습니다.” 피터는 하나님께서 약속하신 말씀을 반드시 지키신다는 확신을 가지고 있기 때문에, 그 약속을 믿고 행할 수 있습니다. 창세기에서 요셉 역시 생애의 마지막 순간에, 하나님의 약속을 굳게 신뢰했습니다. 그는 형제들에게 말했습니다. “나는 죽을 것이나, 하나님이 당신들을 돌보시고 당신들을 이 땅에서 인도하여 내사 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 맹세하신 땅에 이르게 하시리라”(창세기 50:24). 요셉은 하나님께서 반드시 약속을 지켜 자기 백성을 가나안 땅으로 인도하실 것을 확신했습니다. 그래서 그는 이스라엘 백성에게 “여기서 [이집트] 내 해골을 메고 올라가라”(25절)고 당부했습니다. 그로부터 약 400년 후, 출애굽의 때에 “모세가 요셉의 유골을 가지고 나왔으며”(출애굽기 13:19) 그리고 마침내, “이스라엘 자손이 애굽에서 가지고 나온 요셉의 뼈를 세겜에 장사하니라”(여호수아 24:32). 우리도 요셉이 보여준 믿음의 본을 따라(히브리서 11:22), 하나님의 약속을 믿고 행함으로 우리의 믿음의 삶을 보여드립시다.

22 Joseph stayed in Egypt, along with all his father's family. He lived a hundred and ten years

23 and saw the third generation of Ephraim's children. Also the children of Makir son of Manasseh were placed at birth on Joseph's knees.

24 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die. But God will surely come to your aid and take you up out of this land to the land he promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”

25 And Joseph made the Israelites swear an oath and said, “God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up from this place.”

26 So Joseph died at the age of a hundred and ten. And after they embalmed him, he was placed in a coffin in Egypt.

22 ○요셉이 그의 아버지의 가족과 함께 애굽에 거주하여 백십 세를 살며

23 에브라임의 자손 삼대를 보았으며 므낫세의 아들 마길의 아들들도 요셉의 슬하에서 양육되었더라

24 요셉이 그의 형제들에게 이르되 나는 죽을 것이나 하나님이 당신들을 돌보시고 당신들을 이 땅에서 인도하여 내사 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 맹세하신 땅에 이르게 하시리라 하고

25 요셉이 또 이스라엘 자손에게 맹세시켜 이르기를 하나님이 반드시 당신들을 돌보시리니 당신들은 여기서 내 해골을 메고 올라가겠다 하라 하였더라

26 요셉이 백십 세에 죽으매 그들이 그의 몸에 향 재료를 넣고 애굽에서 입관하였더라
