[ 1 Corinthians 16:13 - 16:24 ] (Hymn503)

13Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
14 Let all that you do be done in love.
15 Now I urge you, brothers—you know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints—
16 be subject to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer.
17 I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for your absence,
18 for they refreshed my spirit as well as yours. Give recognition to such people.
19 The churches of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Prisca, together with the church in their house, send you hearty greetings in the Lord.
20 All the brothers send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
21 I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand.
22 If anyone has no love for the Lord, let him be accursed. Our Lord, come!
23 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.
24 My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.

13깨어 있으십시오. 믿음에 굳게 서 있으십시오. 용감하십시오. 힘을 내십시오.
14 모든 일을 사랑으로 하십시오.
15 형제자매 여러분, 나는 여러분에게 권합니다. 여러분이 아는 바와 같이, 스데바나의 가정은 아가야에서 맺은 첫 열매요, 성도들을 섬기는 일에 몸을 바친 가정입니다.

19 아시아에 있는 교회들이 여러분에게 문안합니다. 아굴라와 브리스가와 그 집에 모이는 교회가 다 함께, 주님 안에서 진심으로 문안합니다.
20 모든 형제자매들이 여러분에게 문안합니다. 거룩한 입맞춤으로 서로 인사하십시오.
21 나 바울은 친필로 인사의 말을 씁니다.
22 누구든지 주님을 사랑하지 않는 사람은 저주를 받으라! 마라나 타, 우리 주님, 오십시오.
23 주 예수의 은혜가 여러분과 함께 있기를 빕니다.

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding
Paul summarised his teachings with five encouragements: be watchful, stand firm in faith, forgive, be strong, and do everything in love (vv. 13-14). Then, he mentioned the leaders of the Corinthian church and the household of Stephanas and urged the believers to acknowledge and respect their service (vv. 15-18). He also passed on the greetings of fellow workers, including Aquila and Prisca, and advised the believers to greet one another in a friendly way. Paul warned those who did not love the Lord and concluded his letter with a greeting of grace and love, exclaiming “Maranatha!” (vv. 19-24).
바울은 지금까지의 교훈을 ‘깨어 있으라’, ‘믿음에 굳게 서라’, ‘용감하라’, ‘강건하라’, 모든 일을 사랑으로 하라는 다섯 가지 권면으로 요약합니다(13-14절). 이어 고린도 교회의 대표들과 스데바나의 가정을 언급하며, 섬김에 헌신한 이들을 인정하고 존중하라고 권합니다(15-18절). 또한 아굴라와 브리스가를 비롯한 성도들의 인사를 전하며, 교회 안에서 친교를 나누라고 당부합니다. 바울은 주님을 사랑하지 않는 자를 경고하고 ‘마라나 타’를 외치며, 은혜와 사랑의 인사로 편지를 마무리합니다(19-24절).

What lesson is God teaching me?
VV. 15-18 We must respect those who serve and lead the church. The church leaders, including figures like, were not perfect, but Paul instructed the believers to recognise their efforts and roles. Who serves and leads our church? Do I recognise their efforts?
공동체를 섬기고 공동체의 일을 앞장서서 하는 사람들을 존중해야 합니다. 스데바나를 비롯한 고린도 교회 대표들도 완벽하진 않았겠지만, 바울은 그들이 하는 수고와 그들의 역할을 알아주라고 했습니다. 우리 공동체에 이런 사람은 누구입니까? 그들의 노고를 인정해 줍니까?

VV. 14, 24 Love should be the conclusion of all things. Paul admonished the Corinthian church throughout his letter, but his love for them never wavered. So, he ended his letter with a confession of his love for the church. Let’s do all things in love and conclude all conversations with words of love.
모든 일의 결론은 사랑이어야 합니다. 바울은 편지 내내 고린도 교회를 꾸짖었지만, 그의 마음에 있는 사랑은 흔들리지 않았습니다. 그래서 교회를 향한 사랑 고백으로 편지를 마무리했습니다. 모든 일을 사랑으로 하십시오. 그리고 모든 대화를 사랑의 말로 마무리하십시오.
