1After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” 2 He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” 3 So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac. And he cut the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. 4 On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from afar. 5 Then Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; I and the boy will go over there and worship and come again to you.” 6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. And he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So they went both of them together. 7 And Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” 8 Abraham said, “God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they went both of them together. 9 When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son. 11 But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” 12 He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.” 13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called the name of that place, “The LORD will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.” 15 And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven 16 and said, “By myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, 18 and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.” 19 So Abraham returned to his young men, and they arose and went together to Beersheba. And Abraham lived at Beersheba. 20 Now after these things it was told to Abraham, “Behold, Milcah also has borne children to your brother Nahor: 21 Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram, 22 Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.” 23 (Bethuel fathered Rebekah.) These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham's brother. 24 Moreover, his concubine, whose name was Reumah, bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.
1이런 일이 있은 지 얼마 뒤에, 하나님이 아브라함을 시험해 보시려고, 그를 부르셨다. “아브라함아!” 하고 부르시니, 아브라함은 “예, 여기에 있습니다” 하고 대답하였다. 2 하나님이 말씀하셨다. “너의 아들, 네가 사랑하는 외아들 이삭을 데리고 모리아 땅으로 가거라. 내가 너에게 일러주는 산에서 그를 번제물로 바쳐라.” 3 아브라함이 다음날 아침에 일찍이 일어나서, 나귀의 등에 안장을 얹었다. 그는 두 종과 아들 이삭에게도 길을 떠날 준비를 시켰다. 번제에 쓸 장작을 다 쪼개어 가지고서, 그는 하나님이 그에게 말씀하신 그 곳으로 길을 떠났다. 4 사흘 만에 아브라함은 고개를 들어서, 멀리 그 곳을 바라볼 수 있었다. 5 그는 자기 종들에게 말하였다. “내가 이 아이와 저리로 가서, 예배를 드리고 너희에게로 함께 돌아올 터이니, 그 동안 너희는 나귀와 함께 여기에서 기다리고 있거라.” 6 아브라함은 번제에 쓸 장작을 아들 이삭에게 지우고, 자신은 불과 칼을 챙긴 다음에, 두 사람은 함께 걸었다. 7 이삭이 그의 아버지 아브라함에게 말하였다. 그가 “아버지!” 하고 부르자, 아브라함이 “얘야, 왜 그러느냐?” 하고 대답하였다. 이삭이 물었다. “불과 장작은 여기에 있습니다마는, 번제로 바칠 어린 양은 어디에 있습니까?” 8 아브라함이 대답하였다. “얘야, 번제로 바칠 어린 양은 하나님이 손수 마련하여 주실 것이다.” 두 사람이 함께 걸었다. 9 그들이, 하나님이 말씀하신 그 곳에 이르러서, 아브라함은 거기에 제단을 쌓고, 제단 위에 장작을 벌려 놓았다. 그런 다음에 제 자식 이삭을 묶어서, 제단 장작 위에 올려놓았다. 10 그는 손에 칼을 들고서, 아들을 잡으려고 하였다. 11 그 때에 주님의 천사가 하늘에서 “아브라함아, 아브라함아!” 하고 그를 불렀다. 아브라함이 대답하였다. “예, 여기 있습니다.” 12 천사가 말하였다. “그 아이에게 손을 대지 말아라! 그 아이에게 아무 일도 하지 말아라! 네가 너의 아들, 너의 외아들까지도 나에게 아끼지 아니하니, 네가 하나님 두려워하는 줄을 내가 이제 알았다.” 13 아브라함이 고개를 들고 살펴보니, 수풀 속에 숫양 한 마리가 있는데, 그 뿔이 수풀에 걸려 있었다. 가서 그 숫양을 잡아다가, 아들 대신에 그것으로 번제를 드렸다. 14 이런 일이 있었으므로, 아브라함이 그 곳 이름을 여호와이레라고 하였다. 오늘날까지도 사람들은 ‘주님의 산에서 준비될 것이다’는 말을 한다. 15 주님의 천사가 하늘에서 두 번째로 아브라함을 불러서, 16 말하였다. “주님의 말씀이다. 내가 친히 맹세한다. 네가 이렇게 너의 아들까지, 너의 외아들까지 아끼지 않았으니, 17 내가 반드시 너에게 큰 복을 주며, 너의 자손이 크게 불어나서, 하늘의 별처럼, 바닷가의 모래처럼 많아지게 하겠다. 너의 자손은 원수의 성을 차지할 것이다. 18 네가 나에게 복종하였으니, 세상 모든 민족이 네 자손의 덕을 입어서, 복을 받게 될 것이다.” 19 아브라함이 그의 종들에게로 돌아왔다. 그들은 브엘세바 쪽으로 길을 떠났다. 아브라함은 브엘세바에서 살았다. 20 이런 일이 있은 지 얼마 뒤에, 아브라함은 밀가가 자식들을 낳았다는 말을 들었다. 밀가와 아브라함의 동생 나홀 사이에서 아들들이 태어났는데, 21 맏아들은 우스이고, 그 아래로 부스와 (아람의 아버지) 그므엘과 22 게셋과 하소와 빌다스와 이들랍과 브두엘과 같은 동생들이 태어났다. 23 브두엘은 리브가의 아버지이다. 이 여덟 형제는 아브라함의 동생 나홀과 그 아내 밀가 사이에서 태어났다. 24 나홀의 첩 르우마도 데바와 가함과 다하스와 마아가 등 네 형제를 낳았다.
