1In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” 4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.” 8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” 9 And he said, “Go, and say to this people: “‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’ 10 Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.” 11 Then I said, “How long, O Lord?” And he said: “Until cities lie waste without inhabitant, and houses without people, and the land is a desolate waste, 12 and the LORD removes people far away, and the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land. 13 And though a tenth remain in it, it will be burned again, like a terebinth or an oak, whose stump remains when it is felled.” The holy seed is its stump.
1웃시야 왕이 죽던 해에, 나는 높이 들린 보좌에 앉아 계시는 주님을 뵈었는데, 그의 옷자락이 성전에 가득 차 있었다. 2 그분 위로는 스랍들이 서 있었는데, 스랍들은 저마다 날개를 여섯 가지고 있었다. 둘로는 얼굴을 가리고, 둘로는 발을 가리고, 나머지 둘로는 날고 있었다. 3 그리고 그들은 큰소리로 노래를 부르며 화답하였다. “거룩하시다, 거룩하시다, 거룩하시다. 만군의 주님! 온 땅에 그의 영광이 가득하다.” 4 우렁차게 부르는 이 노랫소리에 문지방의 터가 흔들리고, 성전에는 연기가 가득 찼다. 5 나는 부르짖었다. “재앙이 나에게 닥치겠구나! 이제 나는 죽게 되었구나! 나는 입술이 부정한 사람인데, 입술이 부정한 백성 가운데 살고 있으면서, 왕이신 만군의 주님을 만나 뵙다니!” 6 그 때에 스랍들 가운데서 하나가, 제단에서 타고 있는 숯을, 부집게로 집어, 손에 들고 나에게 날아와서, 7 그것을 나의 입에 대며 말하였다. “이것이 너의 입술에 닿았으니, 너의 악은 사라지고, 너의 죄는 사해졌다.” 8 그 때에 나는 주님께서 말씀하시는 음성을 들었다. “내가 누구를 보낼까? 누가 우리를 대신하여 갈 것인가?” 내가 아뢰었다. “제가 여기에 있습니다. 저를 보내어 주십시오.” 9 그러자 주님께서 말씀하셨다. “너는 가서 이 백성에게 ‘너희가 듣기는 늘 들어라. 그러나 깨닫지는 못한다. 너희가 보기는 늘 보아라. 그러나 알지는 못한다’ 하고 일러라. 10 너는 이 백성의 마음을 둔하게 하여라. 그 귀가 막히고, 그 눈이 감기게 하여라. 그리하여 그들이 볼 수 없고, 들을 수 없고 또 마음으로 깨달을 수 없게 하여라. 그들이 보고 듣고 깨달았다가는 내게로 돌이켜서 고침을 받게 될까 걱정이다.” 11 그 때에 내가 여쭈었다. “주님! 언제까지 그렇게 하실 것입니까?” 그러자 주님께서 대답하셨다. “성읍들이 황폐하여 주민이 없어질 때까지, 사람이 없어서 집마다 빈 집이 될 때까지, 밭마다 모두 황무지가 될 때까지, 12 나 주가 사람들을 먼 나라로 흩어서 이 곳 땅이 온통 버려질 때까지 그렇게 하겠다. 13 주민의 십분의 일이 아직 그 곳에 남는다 해도, 그들도 다 불에 타 죽을 것이다. 그러나 밤나무나 상수리나무가 잘릴 때에 그루터기는 남듯이, 거룩한 씨는 남아서, 그 땅에서 그루터기가 될 것이다.”
