Five-Finger Prayers		다섯 손가락 기도
[ James 5:13 - 5:18 ] - hymn 366 Pray for each other. James 5:16 Prayer is a conversation with God, not a formula. Yet sometimes we might need to use a ¡°method¡± to freshen up our prayer time. We can pray the Psalms or other Scriptures(such as The Lord¡¯s Prayer), or use the ACTS method(Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication). I recently came across this ¡°Five-Finger Prayer¡± to use as a guide when praying for others: • When you fold your hands, the thumb is nearest you. So begin by praying for those closest to you—your loved ones(Phil. 1:3–5). • The index finger is the pointer. Pray for those who teach—Bible teachers and preachers, and those who teach children(1 Thess. 5:25). • The next finger is the tallest. It reminds you to pray for those in authority over you—national and local leaders, and your supervisor at work(1 Tim. 2:1–2). • The fourth finger is usually the weakest. Pray for those who are in trouble or who are suffering(James 5:13–16). • Then comes your little finger. It reminds you of your smallness in relation to God¡¯s greatness. Ask Him to supply your needs(Phil. 4:6, 19). Whatever method you use, just talk with your Father. He wants to hear what¡¯s on your heart. It¡¯s not the words we pray that matter; it¡¯s the condition of our heart.

13. Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.

14. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.

15. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.

16. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

17. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.

18. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

19. My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back,

20. remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

• 하나님 아버지, 저에게 지혜를 주셔서 다른 이들을 위해 어떻게 기도해야 하는지 알게 하소서.

중요한 것은 우리가 기도하는 말이 아니라 기도하는 우리 마음의 상태이다.

13. 너희 중에 고난 당하는 자가 있느냐 그는 기도할 것이요 즐거워하는 자가 있느냐 그는 찬송할지니라

14. 너희 중에 병든 자가 있느냐 그는 교회의 장로들을 청할 것이요 그들은 주의 이름으로 기름을 바르며 그를 위하여 기도할지니라

15. 믿음의 기도는 병든 자를 구원하리니 주께서 그를 일으키시리라 혹시 죄를 범하였을지라도 사하심을 받으리라

16. 그러므로 너희 죄를 서로 고백하며 병이 낫기를 위하여 서로 기도하라 의인의 간구는 역사하는 힘이 큼이니라

17. 엘리야는 우리와 성정이 같은 사람이로되 그가 비가 오지 않기를 간절히 기도한즉 삼 년 육 개월 동안 땅에 비가 오지 아니하고

18. 다시 기도하니 하늘이 비를 주고 땅이 열매를 맺었느니라

19. 내 형제들아 너희 중에 미혹되어 진리를 떠난 자를 누가 돌아서게 하면

20. 너희가 알 것은 죄인을 미혹된 길에서 돌아서게 하는 자가 그의 영혼을 사망에서 구원할 것이며 허다한 죄를 덮을 것임이라
