Consider the Clouds		구름을 생각해보라
[ Job 37:1 - 37:16 ] - hymn 78 Do you know how the clouds hang poised? Job 37:16 One day many years ago my boys and I were lying on our backs in the yard watching the clouds drift by. ¡°Dad,¡± one asked, ¡°why do clouds float?¡± ¡°Well, son,¡± I began, intending to give him the benefit of my vast knowledge, but then I lapsed into silence. ¡°I don¡¯t know,¡± I admitted, ¡°but I¡¯ll find out for you.¡± The answer, I discovered, is that condensed moisture, descending by gravity, meets warmer temperatures rising from the land. That moisture then changes into vapor and ascends back into the air. That¡¯s a natural explanation for the phenomenon. But natural explanations are not final answers. Clouds float because God in His wisdom has ordered the natural laws in such a way that they reveal the ¡°wonders of him who has perfect knowledge¡±(Job 37:16). Clouds then can be thought of as a symbol—an outward and visible sign of God¡¯s goodness and grace in creation. So someday when you¡¯re taking some time to see what images you can imagine in the clouds, remember this: The One who made all things beautiful makes the clouds float through the air. He does so to call us to wonder and adoration. The heavens—even the cumulus, stratus, and cirrus clouds—declare the glory of God. David Roper		[ 욥기 37:1 - 37:16 ] - 찬송가 78 장 구름이 어떻게 하늘에 떠 있는지를 아십니까? 욥기 37:16, 새번역 여러 해 전 어느 날 나는 아들들과 함께 마당에 드러누워 구름이 흘러가는 것을 보고 있었습니다. 그 때 한 아이가 “아빠, 구름은 왜 떠다녀요?”라고 물었습니다. 나는 그에게 나의 풍부한 지식을 전해주려고, “얘야, 그것은” 하며 시작했지만 말을 더 이상 잇지 못하고, “나도 잘 모르겠다.”라고 인정하고는 “나중에 알아봐 줄게.”라고 말했습니다. 내가 알아보니 그 답은 농축된 수분이 중력에 의해 내려오다가 땅에서 올라오는 따뜻한 기운을 만나 그 수분이 수증기로 변하여 공중으로 다시 올라간다는 것이었습니다. 그것이 그 현상의 자연 과학적인 설명입니다. 그러나 자연과학적인 설명이 최종적인 답은 아닙니다. 구름이 뜨는 것은 지혜의 하나님께서 “완전한 지식의 경이로움을”(욥 37:16) 나타내도록 자연법칙을 정하셨기 때문입니다. 그리고 구름은 창조물 안에 들어있는 하나님의 선하심과 은혜를 밖으로 드러내 보여주는 하나의 상징으로 여겨질 수도 있습니다. 언젠가 당신이 구름 속에서 어떤 형상들을 보려고 상상할 때, 만물을 아름답게 창조하신 분이 구름을 공중에 떠다니게 하신다는 사실을 기억하십시오. 주님은 우리로 감탄하고 찬미하게 하도록 그렇게 하십니다. 뭉게구름이나 층구름, 새털구름까지, 하늘에 있는 모든 것이 하나님의 영광을 나타냅니다.

• We are amazed at You, wonderful Creator, as we look at Your world. You deserve all the praise our hearts can give and so much more!

Creation is filled with signs that point to the Creator.

1. "At this my heart pounds and leaps from its place.

2. Listen! Listen to the roar of his voice, to the rumbling that comes from his mouth.

3. He unleashes his lightning beneath the whole heaven and sends it to the ends of the earth.

4. After that comes the sound of his roar; he thunders with his majestic voice. When his voice resounds, he holds nothing back.

5. God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.

6. He says to the snow, `Fall on the earth,' and to the rain shower, `Be a mighty downpour.'

7. So that all men he has made may know his work, he stops every man from his labor.

8. The animals take cover; they remain in their dens.

9. The tempest comes out from its chamber, the cold from the driving winds.

10. The breath of God produces ice, and the broad waters become frozen.

11. He loads the clouds with moisture; he scatters his lightning through them.

12. At his direction they swirl around over the face of the whole earth to do whatever he commands them.

13. He brings the clouds to punish men, or to water his earth and show his love.

14. "Listen to this, Job; stop and consider God's wonders.

15. Do you know how God controls the clouds and makes his lightning flash?

16. Do you know how the clouds hang poised, those wonders of him who is perfect in knowledge?

• 주님께서 지으신 세상을 볼 때, 놀라운 창조주이신 주님께 감탄하지 않을 수 없습니다. 주님은 우리의 마음이 드리는 모든 찬미와 그 이상의 것을 받으시기에 합당하십니다.

피조물은 창조주를 나타내는 표적들로 가득 차 있다.

1. 이로 말미암아 내 마음이 떨며 그 자리에서 흔들렸도다

2. 하나님의 음성 곧 그의 입에서 나오는 소리를 똑똑히 들으라

3. 그 소리를 천하에 펼치시며 번갯불을 땅 끝까지 이르게 하시고

4. 그 후에 음성을 발하시며 그의 위엄 찬 소리로 천둥을 치시며 그 음성이 들릴 때에 번개를 멈추게 아니하시느니라

5. 하나님은 놀라운 음성을 내시며 우리가 헤아릴 수 없는 큰 일을 행하시느니라

6. 눈을 명하여 땅에 내리라 하시며 적은 비와 큰 비도 내리게 명하시느니라

7. 그가 모든 사람의 손에 표를 주시어 모든 사람이 그가 지으신 것을 알게 하려 하심이라

8. 그러나 짐승들은 땅 속에 들어가 그 처소에 머무느니라

9. 폭풍우는 그 밀실에서 나오고 추위는 북풍을 타고 오느니라

10. 하나님의 입김이 얼음을 얼게 하고 물의 너비를 줄어들게 하느니라

11. 또한 그는 구름에 습기를 실으시고 그의 번개로 구름을 흩어지게 하시느니라

12. 그는 감싸고 도시며 그들의 할 일을 조종하시느니라 그는 땅과 육지 표면에 있는 모든 자들에게 명령하시느니라

13. 혹은 징계를 위하여 혹은 땅을 위하여 혹은 긍휼을 위하여 그가 이런 일을 생기게 하시느니라

14. 욥이여 이것을 듣고 가만히 서서 하나님의 오묘한 일을 깨달으라

15. 하나님이 이런 것들에게 명령하셔서 그 구름의 번개로 번쩍거리게 하시는 것을 그대가 아느냐

16. 그대는 겹겹이 쌓인 구름과 완전한 지식의 경이로움을 아느냐
