A Reason to Sing		찬양하는 이유
[ 2 Chronicles 20:14 - 20:22 ] - hymn 20 Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. Psalm 47:6 Singing changes the brain! Some studies show that when we sing, our bodies release hormones that relieve anxiety and stress. Other research indicates that when a group of people sings together, their heartbeats actually synchronize with each other. The apostle Paul¡¯s writing encourages the church to speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs(Eph. 5:19). And the Bible repeats, ¡°Sing praise¡± more than fifty times. In 2 Chronicles 20, we read a story of God¡¯s people demonstrating their trust in God by singing as they marched into battle. Enemies were heading toward the people of Judah. Alarmed, King Jehoshaphat called everyone together. He led the community in intense prayer. They didn¡¯t eat or drink, but only prayed, ¡°We don¡¯t know what to do, but our eyes are on you¡±(v. 12). The next day, they set out. They weren¡¯t led by their fiercest warriors, but by their choir. They believed God¡¯s promise that they would be delivered without having to fight at all(v. 17). While they sang and walked toward the conflict, their enemies fought each other! By the time God¡¯s people reached the battlefield, the fighting had ended. God saved His people as they marched by faith toward the unknown, singing His praises. God encourages us to praise Him for good reasons. Whether or not we are marching into battle, praising God has power to change our thoughts, our hearts, and our lives. Amy Peterson		[ 역대하 20:14 - 20:22 ] - 찬송가 20 장 찬송하라 하나님을 찬송하라 찬송하라 우리 왕을 찬송하라 시편 47:6 노래를 부르면 두뇌에 변화가 일어납니다! 연구에 의하면 노래할 때 우리 몸에서 불안과 스트레스를 해소하는 호르몬이 분비된다고 합니다. 또 다른 연구에 의하면 사람들이 함께 합창할 때 심장이 서로 박자를 맞추어 박동한다고 합니다. 바울 사도는 그의 편지에서 교회가 시와 찬송과 신령한 노래들로 서로 화답하라고 권면합니다(엡 5:19). 성경은 “찬양하라”는 말을 50번도 넘게 반복하고 있습니다. 역대하 20장에는 하나님의 백성들이 전쟁터로 행군할 때 찬양으로 하나님에 대한 신뢰를 보여주는 이야기가 나옵니다. 적들이 유다 백성들에게 다가오자, 이에 놀란 여호사밧 왕이 모든 사람들을 불러 모아 그들로 간절히 기도하게 했습니다. 그들은 먹지도 마시지도 않고 “우리가 어떻게 할 줄도 알지 못하옵고 오직 주만 바라보나이다”(12절) 하며 기도에만 열중하였습니다. 다음날 그들이 행진하여 나아갈 때 그들을 이끈 것은 가장 용맹한 장수들이 아니라 찬양대였습니다. 그들은 이 전쟁에서 전혀 싸우지 않고도 이길 것이라는 하나님의 약속을 믿었습니다(17절). 그들이 찬양하며 적진을 향해 행진하는 동안 적들은 자기들끼리 싸웠습니다! 하나님의 백성들이 전쟁터에 도착했을 때 전쟁은 이미 끝나 있었습니다. 하나님은 그의 백성들이 미지의 적을 향해 찬양하며 믿음으로 행군하자 그들을 구원해주셨습니다. 하나님께서는 합당한 이유로 우리의 찬양을 원하십니다. 적진을 향해 행진을 하든 아니든, 하나님을 찬양하는 것은 우리의 생각과 마음과 삶을 변화시키는 능력이 됩니다.

• God, we praise Your everlasting love and faithfulness! You protect and guide us, and we trust You with our lives.

Hearts in tune with God sing His praises.

14. Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite and descendant of Asaph, as he stood in the assembly.

15. He said: "Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: `Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's.

16. Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel.

17. You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.'"

18. Jehoshaphat bowed with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the LORD.

19. Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the LORD, the God of Israel, with very loud voice.

20. Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful."

21. After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: "Give thanks to the LORD, for his love endures forever."

22. As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.

• 하나님, 하나님의 영원한 사랑과 신실하심을 찬양합니다! 하나님이 우리를 보호하시고 인도하시니 우리의 삶을 주님께 맡깁니다.

하나님과 마음이 합해질 때 그분을 찬양하게 된다.

14. 여호와의 영이 회중 가운데에서 레위 사람 야하시엘에게 임하셨으니 그는 아삽 자손 맛다냐의 현손이요 여이엘의 증손이요 브나야의 손자요 스가랴의 아들이더라

15. 야하시엘이 이르되 온 유다와 예루살렘 주민과 여호사밧 왕이여 들을지어다 여호와께서 이같이 너희에게 말씀하시기를 너희는 이 큰 무리로 말미암아 두려워하거나 놀라지 말라 이 전쟁은 너희에게 속한 것이 아니요 하나님께 속한 것이니라

16. 내일 너희는 그들에게로 내려가라 그들이 시스 고개로 올라올 때에 너희가 골짜기 어귀 여루엘 들 앞에서 그들을 만나려니와

17. 이 전쟁에는 너희가 싸울 것이 없나니 대열을 이루고 서서 너희와 함께 한 여호와가 구원하는 것을 보라 유다와 예루살렘아 너희는 두려워하지 말며 놀라지 말고 내일 그들을 맞서 나가라 여호와가 너희와 함께 하리라 하셨느니라 하매

18. 여호사밧이 몸을 굽혀 얼굴을 땅에 대니 온 유다와 예루살렘 주민들도 여호와 앞에 엎드려 여호와께 경배하고

19. 그핫 자손과 고라 자손에게 속한 레위 사람들은 서서 심히 큰 소리로 이스라엘 하나님 여호와를 찬송하니라

20. 이에 백성들이 아침에 일찍이 일어나서 드고아 들로 나가니라 나갈 때에 여호사밧이 서서 이르되 유다와 예루살렘 주민들아 내 말을 들을지어다 너희는 너희 하나님 여호와를 신뢰하라 그리하면 견고히 서리라 그의 선지자들을 신뢰하라 그리하면 형통하리라 하고

21. 백성과 더불어 의논하고 노래하는 자들을 택하여 거룩한 예복을 입히고 군대 앞에서 행진하며 여호와를 찬송하여 이르기를 여호와께 감사하세 그의 인자하심이 영원하도다 하게 하였더니

22. 그 노래와 찬송이 시작될 때에 여호와께서 복병을 두어 유다를 치러 온 암몬 자손과 모압과 세일 산 주민들을 치게 하시므로 그들이 패하였으니
