The Remedy for Jealousy		질투심 치료법
[ 1 Samuel 18:5 - 18:15 ] - hymn 66 So from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David. 1 Samuel 18:9 NLT I gladly agreed to babysit my grandkids while their parents went out for the evening. After hugs, I asked the boys what they did over the weekend. (Both had separate adventures.) Bridger, age three, recounted breathlessly how he got to stay overnight with his aunt and uncle—and he had ice cream and rode a carousel and watched a movie! Next it was five-year-old Samuel¡¯s turn. When asked what he did, he said, ¡°Camping.¡± ¡°Did you have fun?¡± I asked. ¡°Not so much,¡± he answered forlornly. Samuel experienced the age-old feeling of jealousy. He forgot how much fun he had camping with his dad when he heard his brother excitedly tell about his weekend. All of us can fall prey to jealousy. King Saul gave in to the green-eyed monster of jealousy when the praise David received exceeded his: ¡°Saul has killed his thousands, and David his tens of thousands!¡±(1 Sam. 18:7 NLT). Saul was outraged and ¡°from that time on . . . kept a jealous eye on David¡±(v. 9 NLT). He was so incensed he tried to kill David! The comparison game is foolish and self-destructive. Someone will always have something we don¡¯t or enjoy experiences different from ours. But God has already given us many blessings, including both life on this earth and the promise of eternal life to all who believe. Depending on His help and focusing on Him in thankfulness can help us to overcome jealousy. (두 명이 서로 다른 경험을 하였습니다.) 세살 박이 브리져는 이모 이모부와 밤새우며 지낸 것, 아이스크림 먹은 것, 회전목마 탄 것, 영화 본 것들에 대해 숨도 쉬지 않고 신나게 나열했습니다. 다음은 다섯 살짜리 사무엘의 순서였습니다. 무엇을 했는지 묻자 사무엘은 “캠핑”이라고만 대답했습니다. “즐거웠니?”라고 물으니, “별로요.”라고 쓸쓸하게 답했습니다. 사무엘은 예전부터 전해 내려오는 감정인 질투심을 느끼고 있었습니다. 그는 동생이 신나서 지난 주말에 대해 얘기하는 것을 들으면서, 자신이 아빠와 얼마나 재미나게 캠핑을 했는지를 잊어버렸습니다. 우리 모두는 질투심의 포로가 될 수 있습니다. “사울이 죽인 자는 천천이요 다윗은 만만이로다”(삼상 18:7)와 같이 다윗이 사울 왕보다 더 많은 칭송을 받자 사울 왕은 질투라는 녹색 눈의 괴물에게 굴복하고 말았습니다. 사울은 격분하여 “그날부터…계속 다윗을 질투의 눈으로 바라보았습니다”(9절, 현대인의 성경). 그는 너무 화가 난 나머지 다윗을 죽이려고 했습니다! 비교하는 게임은 어리석고 자신을 파괴하는 행위입니다. 누군가는 항상 우리가 갖지 못한 것을 갖고 있고, 또 우리와는 다른 경험을 즐기게 될 것입니다. 그러나 하나님은 이 세상에서의 삶과 모든 믿는 자에게 주시는 영생의 약속을 포함하여 이미 우리에게 많은 복을 주셨습니다. 하나님의 도우심에 의존하고 감사함으로 그분께 초점을 맞추면 질투심을 극복하는데 도움을 받을 수 있습니다.

• Lord, You have given us life and the promise of life eternal if we trust in You as our Savior. For that—and so many other blessings—we give You praise!

The remedy for jealousy is thankfulness to God.

5. Ahab had said to Obadiah, "Go through the land to all the springs and valleys. Maybe we can find some grass to keep the horses and mules alive so we will not have to kill any of our animals."
6. So they divided the land they were to cover, Ahab going in one direction and Obadiah in another.
7. As Obadiah was walking along, Elijah met him. Obadiah recognized him, bowed down to the ground, and said, "Is it really you, my lord Elijah?"
8. "Yes," he replied. "Go tell your master, `Elijah is here.'"
9. "What have I done wrong," asked Obadiah, "that you are handing your servant over to Ahab to be put to death?
10. As surely as the LORD your God lives, there is not a nation or kingdom where my master has not sent someone to look for you. And whenever a nation or kingdom claimed you were not there, he made them swear they could not find you.
11. But now you tell me to go to my master and say, `Elijah is here.'
12. I don't know where the Spirit of the LORD may carry you when I leave you. If I go and tell Ahab and he doesn't find you, he will kill me. Yet I your servant have worshiped the LORD since my youth.
13. Haven't you heard, my lord, what I did while Jezebel was killing the prophets of the LORD? I hid a hundred of the LORD's prophets in two caves, fifty in each, and supplied them with food and water.
14. And now you tell me to go to my master and say, `Elijah is here.' He will kill me!"
15. Elijah said, "As the LORD Almighty lives, whom I serve, I will surely present myself to Ahab today."

• 주님, 주님은 우리에게 삶을 주시고, 주님을 우리의 구주로 믿을 때 영생의 약속까지도 주셨습니다. 그것과 또 다른 많은 주신 복들로 말미암아 주님을 찬양합니다!

질투심에 대한 치료법은 하나님께 감사하는 것이다.

5. 아합이 오바댜에게 이르되 이 땅의 모든 물 근원과 모든 내로 가자 혹시 꼴을 얻으리라 그리하면 말과 노새를 살리리니 짐승을 다 잃지 않게 되리라 하고
6. 두 사람이 두루 다닐 땅을 나누어 아합은 홀로 이 길로 가고 오바댜는 홀로 저 길로 가니라
7. 오바댜가 길에 있을 때에 엘리야가 그를 만난지라 그가 알아보고 엎드려 말하되 내 주 엘리야여 당신이시니이까
8. 그가 그에게 대답하되 그러하다 가서 네 주에게 말하기를 엘리야가 여기 있다 하라
9. 이르되 내가 무슨 죄를 범하였기에 당신이 당신의 종을 아합의 손에 넘겨 죽이게 하려 하시나이까
10. 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내 주께서 사람을 보내어 당신을 찾지 아니한 족속이나 나라가 없었는데 그들이 말하기를 엘리야가 없다 하면 그 나라와 그 족속으로 당신을 보지 못하였다는 맹세를 하게 하였거늘
11. 이제 당신의 말씀이 가서 네 주에게 말하기를 엘리야가 여기 있다 하라 하시나
12. 내가 당신을 떠나간 후에 여호와의 영이 내가 알지 못하는 곳으로 당신을 이끌어 가시리니 내가 가서 아합에게 말하였다가 그가 당신을 찾지 못하면 내가 죽임을 당하리이다 당신의 종은 어려서부터 여호와를 경외하는 자라
13. 이세벨이 여호와의 선지자들을 죽일 때에 내가 여호와의 선지자 중에 백 명을 오십 명씩 굴에 숨기고 떡과 물로 먹인 일이 내 주에게 들리지 아니하였나이까
14. 이제 당신의 말씀이 가서 네 주에게 말하기를 엘리야가 여기 있다 하라 하시니 그리하면 그가 나를 죽이리이다
15. 엘리야가 이르되 내가 섬기는 만군의 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내가 오늘 아합에게 보이리라
