Blink and Think of God		눈 깜박이며 하나님을 생각하기
[ Deuteronomy 32:1 - 32:12 ] - hymn 70 He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye. Deuteronomy 32:10 ¡°God is like an eyelid,¡± my friend Ryley said, and I blinked in surprise. What could she mean by that? ¡°Tell me more,¡± I replied. Together, we had been studying surprising pictures of God in the Bible, things like God as a laboring mother(Isa. 42:14) or as a beekeeper(7:18), but this one was new to me. Ryley pointed me to Deuteronomy 32, where Moses praises the way God takes care of His people. Verse 10 says that God shields and protects His people, guarding them ¡°as the apple of his eye.¡± But the word we translate apple, Ryley told me, literally means pupil. And what encircles and guards the pupil? The eyelid, of course! God is like the eyelid, which instinctively protects the tender eye. The eyelid guards the eye from danger, and by blinking helps remove dirt or dust. It keeps sweat out of the eye. It lubricates the eyeball, keeping it healthy. It closes, allowing rest. As I considered the picture of God as an eyelid, I couldn¡¯t help but thank God for the many metaphors He¡¯s given us to help us understand His love for us. When we close our eyes at night and open them in the morning, we can think of God, and praise Him for His tender protection and care for us. Amy Peterson		[ 신명기 32:1 - 32:12 ] - 찬송가 70 장 여호와께서 그를…호위하시며 보호하시며 자기의 눈동자 같이 지키셨도다 신명기 32:10 친구 라일리가 “하나님은 눈꺼풀 같아.”라고 말해서 나는 깜짝 놀라 눈을 깜박거렸습니다. 라일리가 말하는 게 무슨 뜻일까요? 나는 “더 자세하게 말해 봐.”라고 말했습니다. 우리는 성경에서 의외로 하나님을 해산하는 어머니로(사 42:14) 또는 양봉가로(7:18) 표현한 것들을 함께 공부하기는 했지만, 이것은 전혀 새로운 것이었습니다. 라일리는 나에게 모세가 하나님이 그의 백성을 돌보시는 방식을 찬양한 신명기 32장을 가리켰습니다. 10절은 하나님이 그의 백성을 “자기의 눈동자 같이” 지키시며 호위하시며 보호하신다고 말하고 있습니다. 라일리는 영어로 ‘사과’라고 번역된 단어는 글자 그대로는 눈동자를 의미한다고 말했습니다(역자주: 한글성경에는 이미 ‘눈동자’로 번역되어 있습니다). 그러면 무엇이 이 눈동자를 둘러싸고 보호하고 있을까요? 당연히 눈꺼풀이지요! 하나님은 본능적으로 부드러운 눈을 보호하는 눈꺼풀과 같습니다. 눈꺼풀은 눈을 위험에서 보호하고, 깜박거림으로 먼지나 티끌을 없애는 데 도움을 줍니다. 눈이 계속 젖어 있게 해주고 안구의 윤활유 역할을 하여 눈의 건강을 지켜줍니다. 그리고 눈을 감겨 휴식을 취하게 해줍니다. 하나님의 이미지를 눈꺼풀로 생각하고 나니, 나는 우리를 향한 하나님의 사랑을 이해시키기 위해 많은 비유를 주신 하나님께 감사하지 않을 수 없었습니다. 밤에 눈을 감고 아침에 눈을 뜰 때, 우리는 하나님을 생각하고, 또 우리를 부드럽게 보호하시고 돌보시는 하나님을 찬양할 수 있습니다.

When you blink, remember to thank God for His protection.

1. Listen, O heavens, and I will speak; hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
2. Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.
3. I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!
4. He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
5. They have acted corruptly toward him; to their shame they are no longer his children, but a warped and crooked generation.
6. Is this the way you repay the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is he not your Father, your Creator, who made you and formed you?
7. Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past. Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you.
8. When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when he divided all mankind, he set up boundaries for the peoples according to the number of the sons of Israel.
9. For the LORD's portion is his people, Jacob his allotted inheritance.
10. In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye,
11. like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions.
12. The LORD alone led him; no foreign god was with him.

• 하나님, 우리가 하나님을 더 잘 알 수 있도록 돕기 위해 놀라운 비유들을 사용해주셔서 감사합니다. 눈꺼풀이 눈동자를 보호하는 것처럼 우리를 지켜주시니 감사합니다.

눈을 깜박일 때마다 하나님께서 보호하시는 것을 잊지 말고 감사하라.

1. 하늘이여 귀를 기울이라 내가 말하리라 땅은 내 입의 말을 들을지어다
2. 내 교훈은 비처럼 내리고 내 말은 이슬처럼 맺히나니 연한 풀 위의 가는 비 같고 채소 위의 단비 같도다
3. 내가 여호와의 이름을 전파하리니 너희는 우리 하나님께 위엄을 돌릴지어다
4. 그는 반석이시니 그가 하신 일이 완전하고 그의 모든 길이 정의롭고 진실하고 거짓이 없으신 하나님이시니 공의로우시고 바르시도다
5. 그들이 여호와를 향하여 악을 행하니 하나님의 자녀가 아니요 흠이 있고 삐뚤어진 세대로다
6. 어리석고 지혜 없는 백성아 여호와께 이같이 보답하느냐 그는 네 아버지시요 너를 지으신 이가 아니시냐 그가 너를 만드시고 너를 세우셨도다
7. 옛날을 기억하라 역대의 연대를 생각하라 네 아버지에게 물으라 그가 네게 설명할 것이요 네 어른들에게 물으라 그들이 네게 말하리로다
8. 지극히 높으신 자가 민족들에게 기업을 주실 때에, 인종을 나누실 때에 이스라엘 자손의 수효대로 백성들의 경계를 정하셨도다
9. 여호와의 분깃은 자기 백성이라 야곱은 그가 택하신 기업이로다
10. 여호와께서 그를 황무지에서, 짐승이 부르짖는 광야에서 만나시고 호위하시며 보호하시며 자기의 눈동자 같이 지키셨도다
11. 마치 독수리가 자기의 보금자리를 어지럽게 하며 자기의 새끼 위에 너풀거리며 그의 날개를 펴서 새끼를 받으며 그의 날개 위에 그것을 업는 것 같이
12. 여호와께서 홀로 그를 인도하셨고 그와 함께 한 다른 신이 없었도다
