The Ministry of Memory		기억이 하는 사역
[ Jeremiah 29:4 - 29:14 ] - hymn 370 ¡°For I know the plans I have for you,¡± declares the Lord, ¡°plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.¡± Jeremiah 29:11 Our experiences of loss and disappointment may leave us feeling angry, guilty, and confused. Whether our choices have closed some doors that will never reopen or, through no fault of our own, tragedy has invaded our lives, the result is often what Oswald Chambers called ¡°the unfathomable sadness of ¡®the might have been.¡¯ ¡± We may try to suppress the painful memory, but discover we can¡¯t. Chambers reminds us that the Lord is still active in our lives. ¡°Never be afraid when God brings back the past,¡± he said. ¡°Let memory have its way. It is a minister of God with its rebuke and chastisement and sorrow. God will turn the ¡®might have been¡¯ into a wonderful culture [place of growth] for the future.¡± In Old Testament days when God sent the people of Israel into exile in Babylon, He told them to serve Him in that foreign land and grow in faith until He brought them back to their home. ¡°¡®For I know the plans I have for you,¡¯ declares the Lord, ¡®plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future¡¯¡±(Jer. 29:11). God urged them not to ignore or be trapped by events of the past but instead to focus on Him and look ahead. The Lord¡¯s forgiveness can transform the memory of our sorrow into confidence in His everlasting love. • Father, thank You for Your plans for us, and for the future that awaits us in Your love.

God can use our deepest disappointments to nurture our faith in Him.

4. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon:
5. "Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce.
6. Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease.
7. Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper."
8. Yes, this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: "Do not let the prophets and diviners among you deceive you. Do not listen to the dreams you encourage them to have.
9. They are prophesying lies to you in my name. I have not sent them," declares the LORD.
10. This is what the LORD says: "When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place.
11. For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
12. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
13. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
14. I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."

• 하나님 아버지, 우리를 향하신 하나님의 계획으로 인해, 그리고 하나님의 사랑 안에서 우리를 기다리고 있는 미래로 인해 감사드립니다.

하나님은 우리의 가장 깊은 실망을 그분을 향한 믿음을 자라게 하는 데 사용하신다.

4. 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 사로잡혀 가게 한 모든 포로에게 이와 같이 말씀하시니라
5. 너희는 집을 짓고 거기에 살며 텃밭을 만들고 그 열매를 먹으라
6. 아내를 맞이하여 자녀를 낳으며 너희 아들이 아내를 맞이하며 너희 딸이 남편을 맞아 그들로 자녀를 낳게 하여 너희가 거기에서 번성하고 줄어들지 아니하게 하라
7. 너희는 내가 사로잡혀 가게 한 그 성읍의 평안을 구하고 그를 위하여 여호와께 기도하라 이는 그 성읍이 평안함으로 너희도 평안할 것임이라
8. 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말하노라 너희 중에 있는 선지자들에게와 점쟁이에게 미혹되지 말며 너희가 꾼 꿈도 곧이 듣고 믿지 말라
9. 내가 그들을 보내지 아니하였어도 그들이 내 이름으로 거짓을 예언함이라 여호와의 말씀이니라
10. 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 바벨론에서 칠십 년이 차면 내가 너희를 돌보고 나의 선한 말을 너희에게 성취하여 너희를 이 곳으로 돌아오게 하리라
11. 여호와의 말씀이니라 너희를 향한 나의 생각을 내가 아나니 평안이요 재앙이 아니니라 너희에게 미래와 희망을 주는 것이니라
12. 너희가 내게 부르짖으며 내게 와서 기도하면 내가 너희들의 기도를 들을 것이요
13. 너희가 온 마음으로 나를 구하면 나를 찾을 것이요 나를 만나리라
14. 이것은 여호와의 말씀이니라 나는 너희들을 만날 것이며 너희를 포로된 중에서 다시 돌아오게 하되 내가 쫓아 보내었던 나라들과 모든 곳에서 모아 사로잡혀 떠났던 그 곳으로 돌아오게 하리라 이것은 여호와의 말씀이니라
