Mistakes Were Made		실수였습니다
[ Exodus 32:1 - 32:26 ] - hymn 251 They gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf! Exodus 32:24 ¡°Mistakes were made,¡± said the CEO as he discussed the illegal activity his company had been involved in. He looked regretful, yet he kept blame at arm¡¯s length and couldn¡¯t admit he had personally done anything wrong. Some ¡°mistakes¡± are just mistakes: driving in the wrong direction, forgetting to set a timer and burning dinner, miscalculating your checkbook balance. But then there are the deliberate deeds that go far beyond—God calls those sin. When God questioned Adam and Eve about why they had disobeyed Him, they quickly tried to shift the blame to another (Gen. 3:8–13). Aaron took no personal responsibility when the people built a golden calf to worship in the desert. He explained to Moses, ¡°[The people] gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!¡± (Ex. 32:24). He might as well have muttered, ¡°Mistakes were made.¡± Sometimes it seems easier to blame someone else rather than admitting our own failings. Equally dangerous is to try to minimize our sin by calling it ¡°just a mistake¡± instead of acknowledging its true nature. But when we take responsibility—acknowledging our sin and confessing it—the One who ¡°is faithful and just . . . will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness¡± (1 John 1:9). Our God offers His children forgiveness and restoration. Cindy Hess Kasper		[ 출애굽기 32:1 - 32:26 ] - 찬송가 251 장 그들이 그것(금)을 내게로 가져왔기로 내가 불에 던졌더니 이 송아지가 나왔나이다 출애굽기 32:24 “실수였습니다.” 한 기업의 최고경영자가 회사가 연관된 불법행위를 논의하는 자리에서 그렇게 말했습니다. 그는 후회하는 모습을 보이기는 했지만, 책임 소재에 대해서는 거리를 두면서 개인적으로 아무런 잘못을 인정하지 않았습니다. 어쩔 수 없이 생기는 ‘실수’들이 있습니다. 예를 들면, 잘못된 방향으로 운전하는 것, 타이머를 맞춰놓는 것을 잊어 저녁 음식을 태우는 것, 수표장부의 잔액을 잘못 계산하는 것 등입니다. 그러나 이에 훨씬 지나쳐서, 하나님이 죄라고 하시는 고의적인 행위들이 있습니다. 하나님이 아담과 하와에게 왜 불순종했느냐고 물으셨을 때 그들은 즉각 서로를 탓하였습니다(창 3:8-13). 아론은 이스라엘 백성들이 사막에서 황금송아지를 만들어 숭배했을 때 자신은 아무런 책임도 지지 않았습니다. 그는 모세에게 “그들이 그것(금)을 내게로 가져왔기로 내가 불에 던졌더니 이 송아지가 나왔나이다”(출 32:24)라고 변명했습니다. 그도 차라리 “실수였습니다”라고 말하는 게 더 나았을 것입니다. 때로는 자신의 실수를 인정하는 것보다 남을 탓하기가 더 쉬워 보입니다. 하지만 이것 못지않게 위험한 것은 우리의 죄를 근본적으로 인정하지 않고 ‘단순한 실수’로 돌리는 것입니다. 그러나 우리가 우리 죄를 인정하고 자백함으로써 책임을 진다면, “그는 미쁘시고 의로우사 우리 죄를 사하시며 모든 불의에서 우리를 깨끗하게 하실 것입니다”(요일 1:9). 우리 하나님은 그분의 자녀들에게 용서와 회복을 베풀어주십니다.

The first step to receiving God¡¯s forgiveness is to admit that we need it.

1. When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him."
2. Aaron answered them, "Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me."
3. So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron.
4. He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt."
5. When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the LORD."
19. When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hands, breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mountain.
20. And he took the calf they had made and burned it in the fire; then he ground it to powder, scattered it on the water and made the Israelites drink it.
21. He said to Aaron, "What did these people do to you, that you led them into such great sin?"
22. "Do not be angry, my lord," Aaron answered. "You know how prone these people are to evil.
23. They said to me, `Make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him.'
24. So I told them, `Whoever has any gold jewelry, take it off.' Then they gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!"
25. Moses saw that the people were running wild and that Aaron had let them get out of control and so become a laughingstock to their enemies.
26. So he stood at the entrance to the camp and said, "Whoever is for the LORD, come to me." And all the Levites rallied to him.

하나님께 용서를 받는 첫 단계는
우리에게 용서가 필요하다는 것을 인정하는 것이다.

1. 백성이 모세가 산에서 내려옴이 더딤을 보고 모여 백성이 아론에게 이르러 말하되 일어나라 우리를 위하여 우리를 인도할 신을 만들라 이 모세 곧 우리를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 사람은 어찌 되었는지 알지 못함이니라
2. 아론이 그들에게 이르되 너희의 아내와 자녀의 귀에서 금 고리를 빼어 내게로 가져오라
3. 모든 백성이 그 귀에서 금 고리를 빼어 아론에게로 가져가매
4. 아론이 그들의 손에서 금 고리를 받아 부어서 조각칼로 새겨 송아지 형상을 만드니 그들이 말하되 이스라엘아 이는 너희를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 너희의 신이로다 하는지라
5. 아론이 보고 그 앞에 제단을 쌓고 이에 아론이 공포하여 이르되 내일은 여호와의 절일이니라 하니
19. 진에 가까이 이르러 그 송아지와 그 춤 추는 것들을 보고 크게 노하여 손에서 그 판들을 산 아래로 던져 깨뜨리니라
20. 모세가 그들이 만든 송아지를 가져다가 불살라 부수어 가루를 만들어 물에 뿌려 이스라엘 자손에게 마시게 하니라
21. 모세가 아론에게 이르되 이 백성이 당신에게 어떻게 하였기에 당신이 그들을 큰 죄에 빠지게 하였느냐
22. 아론이 이르되 내 주여 노하지 마소서 이 백성의 악함을 당신이 아나이다
23. 그들이 내게 말하기를 우리를 위하여 우리를 인도할 신을 만들라 이 모세 곧 우리를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 사람은 어찌 되었는지 알 수 없노라 하기에
24. 내가 그들에게 이르기를 금이 있는 자는 빼내라 한즉 그들이 그것을 내게로 가져왔기로 내가 불에 던졌더니 이 송아지가 나왔나이다
25. 모세가 본즉 백성이 방자하니 이는 아론이 그들을 방자하게 하여 원수에게 조롱거리가 되게 하였음이라
26. 이에 모세가 진 문에 서서 이르되 누구든지 여호와의 편에 있는 자는 내게로 나아오라 하매 레위 자손이 다 모여 그에게로 가는지라
