The Land of "What Is"		‘미래에 있을 실제’의 세계
[ Psalms 46:1 - 46:7 ] - hymn 246 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 Even all these years after losing our seventeen-year-old daughter Melissa in a car accident in 2002, I sometimes find myself entering the world of ¡°What If.¡± It¡¯s easy, in grief, to reimagine the events of that tragic June evening and think of factors that—if rearranged—would have had Mell arriving safely home. In reality, though, the land of ¡°What If¡± is not a good place to be for any of us. It is a place of regret, second-guessing, and hopelessness. While the grief is real and the sadness endures, life is better and God is honored if we dwell in the world of ¡°What Is.¡± In that world, we can find hope, encouragement, and comfort. We have the sure hope(1 Thess. 4:13)—the assurance—that because Melissa loved Jesus she is in a place that is ¡°better by far¡±(Phil. 1:23). We have the helpful presence of the God of all comfort(2 Cor. 1:3). We have God¡¯s ¡°ever-present help in trouble¡±(Ps. 46:1). And we often have the encouragement of fellow believers. We all wish to avoid the tragedies of life. But when we do face hard times, our greatest help comes from trusting God, our sure hope in the land of What Is. Dave Branon		[ 시편 46:1 - 46:7 ] - 찬송가 246 장 형제들아 자는 자들에 관하여는 너희가 알지 못함을 우리가 원하지 아니하노니 이는 소망 없는 다른 이와 같이 슬퍼하지 않게 하려 함이라 데살로니가전서 4:13 2002년에 자동차 사고로 열일곱 살이던 딸 멜리사를 잃은 뒤 많은 시간이 흘러갔음에도, 나는 때때로 “만약에…”라는 상상의 세계에 빠져들곤 합니다. 슬픔에 잠겨 자연스레 그 비극적인 6월의 어느 밤에 일어난 사고를 다시 그려보며, 나는 만약 다시 재구성할 수 있다면 멜이 안전하게 집에 올 수 있었을 여러 요인들을 생각합니다. 그러나 실상은 “만약에…”라는 곳은 우리 어느 누구에게도 좋은 장소가 아닙니다. 그곳은 후회와 비판의 장소이며, 소망이 없는 곳입니다. 실제로 슬픔이 있고 아픔이 계속되는 동안에도, ‘미래에 있을 실제’의 세계에 우리가 거한다면 삶은 더 나아지고 하나님이 영광을 받으십니다. 그 세계에서 우리는 소망과 격려, 위로를 찾을 수 있습니다. 우리에게는 멜리사가 예수님을 사랑하였기에 지금 “훨씬 더 좋은”(빌 1:23) 곳에 있다는 분명한 소망(살전 4:13)과 확신이 있습니다. 모든 위로의 하나님(고후 1:3)이 우리와 함께 하셔서 도와주시고, 우리의 “환난 중에 만날 큰 도움”(시 46:1)이 되어 주십니다. 그리고 종종 믿음의 동료들에게서도 격려를 받습니다. 우리 모두는 살면서 비극을 피하고 싶어 합니다. 그러나 우리가 고난을 당할 때 우리의 가장 큰 도움은 ‘미래에 있을 실제’의 세계에서 우리의 확실한 소망이 되어주시는 하나님을 신뢰함으로써 얻게 됩니다.

• Father God, You know my broken heart. You know the pain of loss because You suffered through the death of Your Son. In the midst of ongoing sorrow, help me to dwell in the comfort of Your hope, encouragement, and comfort.

Our greatest hope comes from trusting God.

1. Psalm 46 For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth. A song. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
2. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3. though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Selah
4. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.
6. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7. The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

• 하나님 아버지, 하나님은 제 상한 마음을 아시고, 당신의 아들의 죽음을 겪으셨기에 상실의 고통도 아십니다. 계속 되는 슬픔 속에서도, 주님께서 주시는 소망과 격려 및 위안의 평강 속에 거할 수 있도록 도와주소서.

우리의 최고의 소망은 하나님을 신뢰함으로써 얻게 된다.

1. 하나님은 우리의 피난처시요 힘이시니 환난 중에 만날 큰 도움이시라
2. 그러므로 땅이 변하든지 산이 흔들려 바다 가운데에 빠지든지
3. 바닷물이 솟아나고 뛰놀든지 그것이 넘침으로 산이 흔들릴지라도 우리는 두려워하지 아니하리로다 (셀라)
4. 한 시내가 있어 나뉘어 흘러 하나님의 성 곧 지존하신 이의 성소를 기쁘게 하도다
5. 하나님이 그 성 중에 계시매 성이 흔들리지 아니할 것이라 새벽에 하나님이 도우시리로다
6. 뭇 나라가 떠들며 왕국이 흔들렸더니 그가 소리를 내시매 땅이 녹았도다
7. 만군의 여호와께서 우리와 함께 하시니 야곱의 하나님은 우리의 피난처시로다 (셀라)
