The Junkyard Genius		폐품 처리장의 천재
[ John 9:1 - 9:11 ] - hymn 426 One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see! John 9:25 Noah Purifoy began his work as an ¡°assemblage¡± artist with three tons of rubble salvaged from the 1965 riots in the Watts area of Los Angeles. From broken bicycle wheels and bowling balls to discarded tires and damaged TV sets—things no longer usable—he and a colleague created sculptures that conveyed a powerful message about people being treated as ¡°throw-aways¡± in modern society. One journalist referred to Mr. Purifoy as ¡°the junkyard genius.¡± In Jesus¡¯s time, many people considered those with diseases and physical problems as sinners being punished by God. They were shunned and ignored. But when Jesus and His disciples encountered a man born blind, the Lord said his condition was not the result of sin, but an occasion to see the power of God. ¡°While I am in the world, I am the light of the world¡± (John 9:5). When the blind man followed Jesus¡¯s instructions, he was able to see. When the religious authorities questioned the man, he replied simply, ¡°One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!¡± (v. 25). Jesus is still the greatest ¡°junkyard genius¡± in our world. We are all damaged by sin, but He takes our broken lives and shapes us into His new creations. Jesus is the restorer of life.

1. As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth.
2. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
3. "Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.
4. As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.
5. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
6. Having said this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man's eyes.
7. "Go," he told him, "wash in the Pool of Siloam" (this word means Sent). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.
8. His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, "Isn't this the same man who used to sit and beg?"
9. Some claimed that he was. Others said, "No, he only looks like him." But he himself insisted, "I am the man."
10. "How then were your eyes opened?" they demanded.
11. He replied, "The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see."

• 주님, 오늘 주님의 놀라운 은혜에 감사드립니다!

예수님은 우리 삶의 회복자이시다.

1. 예수께서 길을 가실 때에 날 때부터 맹인 된 사람을 보신지라
2. 제자들이 물어 이르되 랍비여 이 사람이 맹인으로 난 것이 누구의 죄로 인함이니이까 자기니이까 그의 부모니이까
3. 예수께서 대답하시되 이 사람이나 그 부모의 죄로 인한 것이 아니라 그에게서 하나님이 하시는 일을 나타내고자 하심이라
4. 때가 아직 낮이매 나를 보내신 이의 일을 우리가 하여야 하리라 밤이 오리니 그 때는 아무도 일할 수 없느니라 5. 내가 세상에 있는 동안에는 세상의 빛이로라
6. 이 말씀을 하시고 땅에 침을 뱉어 진흙을 이겨 그의 눈에 바르시고
7. 이르시되 실로암 못에 가서 씻으라 하시니 (실로암은 번역하면 보냄을 받았다는 뜻이라) 이에 가서 씻고 밝은 눈으로 왔더라
8. 이웃 사람들과 전에 그가 걸인인 것을 보았던 사람들이 이르되 이는 앉아서 구걸하던 자가 아니냐
9. 어떤 사람은 그 사람이라 하며 어떤 사람은 아니라 그와 비슷하다 하거늘 자기 말은 내가 그라 하니
10. 그들이 묻되 그러면 네 눈이 어떻게 떠졌느냐
11. 대답하되 예수라 하는 그 사람이 진흙을 이겨 내 눈에 바르고 나더러 실로암에 가서 씻으라 하기에 가서 씻었더니 보게 되었노라
