[ Romans 8:28 - 8:30 ] - hymn 546 We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 My wife makes an amazing pot roast dinner. She takes raw meat, along with raw sliced white and sweet potatoes, celery, mushrooms, carrots, and onions and throws them into the slow cooker. Six or seven hours later the aroma fills the house, and the first taste is a delight. It is always to my advantage to wait until the ingredients in the slow cooker work together to achieve something they could not achieve individually. When Paul used the phrase "work together" in the context of suffering, he used the word from which we get our word synergy. He wrote, ¡°We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose¡±(Rom. 8:28). He wanted the Romans to know that God, who didn¡¯t cause their suffering, would cause all their circumstances to cooperate with His divine plan—for their ultimate good. The good to which Paul referred was not the temporal blessings of health, wealth, admiration, or success, but being ¡°conformed to the image of [God¡¯s] Son¡±(v.29). May we wait patiently and confidently because our heavenly Father is taking all the suffering, all the distress, all the evil, and causing them to work together for His glory and our spiritual good. He wants to make us like Jesus. Marvin Williams		[ 로마서 8:28 - 8:30 ] - 찬송가 546 장 우리가 알거니와 하나님을 사랑하는 자 곧 그의 뜻대로 부르심을 입은 자들에게는 모든 것이 합력하여 선을 이루느니라 로마서 8:28 내 아내는 찜 요리를 정말 잘 합니다. 감자와 고구마, 샐러리, 버섯, 당근, 그리고 양파를 썰어서 고기와 함께 전기 요리냄비에 넣습니다. 예닐곱 시간 정도 지나면 온 집안이 맛있는 냄새로 가득 차게 되고, 처음 맛을 보는 순간 황홀함을 느낍니다. 모든 재료들이 요리냄비 안에 섞여서 개별적으로는 낼 수 없는 특별한 맛을 만들어낼 때까지 기다리면 언제나 내게 유익함이 돌아옵니다. 바울이 고난을 말할 때 썼던 “협력하라”는 문구는 오늘날 우리가 말하는 ‘상승작용’이라는 단어로부터 나온 말입니다. 바울은 “우리가 알거니와 하나님을 사랑하는 자 곧 그의 뜻대로 부르심을 입은 자들에게는 모든 것이 합력하여 선을 이루느니라”(롬 8:28)라고 기록했습니다. 바울은 로마의 교인들이 하나님이 그들에게 고난을 주시는 것이 아니라, 그들의 모든 상황이 합력하여 결국은 그들의 궁극적인 선을 위한 하나님의 신성한 계획을 이루게 하신다는 것을 알기를 원했습니다. 바울이 말한 선이란 건강이나 부, 존경, 성공과 같은 일시적인 축복이 아닌, “[하나님의] 아들의 형상을 본받는 것”(29절)입니다. 우리가 인내하며 확신을 가지고 기다릴 수 있기를 바랍니다. 그것은 우리 하나님 아버지께서 모든 괴로움과 걱정, 악한 것들을 다 취하셔서, 그것들이 하나님의 영광과 우리의 영적 유익을 위해 서로 협력하도록 만드시기 때문입니다. 하나님은 우리를 예수님처럼 닮게 하시기를 원하십니다.

The growth we gain from waiting on God is often greater than the answer or result we desire.

29. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
30. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
