Enemy Love		원수사랑
[ Jonah 3:10 - 4:11 ] - hymn 315 If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? - Luke 6:32 When war broke out in 1950, fifteen-year-old Kim Chin-Kyung joined the South Korean army to defend his homeland. He soon found, however, that he wasn¡¯t ready for the horrors of combat. As young friends died around him, he begged God for his life and promised that, if allowed to live, he would learn to love his enemies. Sixty-five years later, Dr. Kim reflected on that answered prayer. Through decades of caring for orphans and assisting in the education of North Korean and Chinese young people, he has won many friends among those he once regarded as enemies. Today he shuns political labels. Instead he calls himself a loveist as an expression of his faith in Jesus. The prophet Jonah left a different kind of legacy. Even a dramatic rescue from the belly of a big fish didn¡¯t transform his heart. Although he eventually obeyed God, Jonah said he¡¯d rather die than watch the Lord show mercy to his enemies (Jonah 4:1–2, 8). We can only guess as to whether Jonah ever learned to care for the people of Nineveh. Instead we are left to wonder about ourselves. Will we settle for his attitude toward those we fear and hate? Or will we ask God for the ability to love our enemies as He has shown mercy to us?		[ 요나 3:10 - 4:11 ] - 찬송가 315 장 너희가 만일 너희를 사랑하는 자만을 사랑하면 칭찬받을 것이 무엇이냐 - 누가복음 6:32 1950년에 한국전쟁이 일어났을 때, 15살이었던 김진경은 조국을 지키기 위해 국군에 입대했습니다. 하지만 그는 곧 자신이 전투의 두려움을 이겨낼 준비가 되어 있지 않다는 것을 깨닫게 되었습니다. 자기 주위에서 어린 동료들이 죽어가는 것을 보며 그는 하나님께 살려달라고 매달리며, 살려만 주신다면 원수들을 사랑하는 것을 배우겠다고 약속했습니다. 65년이 지난 후, 김 박사는 응답이 된 그 기도를 되돌아보았습니다. 수십 년 동안 고아들을 보살피고 북한과 중국의 아이들의 교육을 도우면서, 그는 한때 원수로 여겼던 사람들 중 많은 이들과 친구가 되었습니다. 그는 지금 정치적인 입장은 멀리하고, 대신 예수님에 대한 믿음의 표현으로 자신을 ‘사랑주의자’라고 부릅니다. 요나 선지자는 이와는 다른 유산을 남겼습니다. 큰 물고기 뱃속에서 극적으로 구조되었음에도 그의 마음은 변하지 않았습니다. 그 후 요나는 하나님께 순종하긴 했으나, 주님이 그의 원수들에게 자비를 베푸시는 것을 보느니 차라리 죽는 게 낫다고 말했습니다(욘 4:1-2, 8). 요나가 니느웨 사람들을 마침내 사랑했는지는 단지 추측만 할 수 있을 뿐입니다. 그보다 우리는 우리 자신에게 이렇게 물어야 합니다. ‘우리는 두려워하고 싫어하는 사람들에게 요나와 같은 태도를 보일 것인가? 아니면 하나님이 우리에게 자비를 베푸신 것처럼 우리의 적들을 사랑할 수 있는 능력을 달라고 하나님께 간구할 것인가?’

Father in heaven, like Your reluctant prophet, we are inclined to love only those who love us. Yet You loved us even when we cared only for ourselves. Please give us the grace to be more like Jesus than Jonah.

Love conquers all.

Jonah 3:10-4:11

[10] Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.

[4:1] But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he became angry.
[2] So he prayed to the LORD, and said, "Ah, LORD, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm.
[3] "Therefore now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live!"
[4] Then the LORD said, "Is it right for you to be angry?"
[5] So Jonah went out of the city and sat on the east side of the city. There he made himself a shelter and sat under it in the shade, till he might see what would become of the city.
[6] And the LORD God prepared a plant and made it come up over Jonah, that it might be shade for his head to deliver him from his misery. So Jonah was very grateful for the plant.
[7] But as morning dawned the next day God prepared a worm, and it so damaged the plant that it withered.
[8] And it happened, when the sun arose, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat on Jonah's head, so that he grew faint. Then he wished death for himself, and said, "It is better for me to die than to live."
[9] Then God said to Jonah, "Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?" And he said, "It is right for me to be angry, even to death!"
[10] But the LORD said, "You have had pity on the plant for which you have not labored, nor made it grow, which came up in a night and perished in a night.
[11] "And should I not pity Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left--and also much livestock?"

하늘에 계신 아버지, 마지못해 행했던 주님의 선지자처럼 우리는 우리를 사랑하는 자들만을 사랑하기 쉽습니다. 하지만 주님은 자신만을 생각하는 우리를 사랑해주셨습니다. 요나보다는 예수님을 더 닮을 수 있도록 우리에게 은혜를 베풀어주소서.

사랑은 모든 것을 극복한다.

요나 3:10-4:11

[10] 하나님이 그들이 행한 것 곧 그 악한 길에서 돌이켜 떠난 것을 보시고 하나님이 뜻을 돌이키사 그들에게 내리리라고 말씀하신 재앙을 내리지 아니하시니라

[4:1] 요나가 매우 싫어하고 성내며
[2] 여호와께 기도하여 이르되 여호와여 내가 고국에 있을 때에 이러하겠다고 말씀하지 아니하였나이까 그러므로 내가 빨리 다시스로 도망하였사오니 주께서는 은혜로우시며 자비로우시며 노하기를 더디하시며 인애가 크시사 뜻을 돌이켜 재앙을 내리지 아니하시는 하나님이신 줄을 내가 알았음이니이다
[3] 여호와여 원하건대 이제 내 생명을 거두어 가소서 사는 것보다 죽는 것이 내게 나음이니이다 하니
[4] 여호와께서 이르시되 네가 성내는 것이 옳으냐 하시니라
[5] 요나가 성읍에서 나가서 그 성읍 동쪽에 앉아 거기서 자기를 위하여 초막을 짓고 그 성읍에 무슨 일이 일어나는가를 보려고 그 그늘 아래에 앉았더라
[6] 하나님 여호와께서 박넝쿨을 예비하사 요나를 가리게 하셨으니 이는 그의 머리를 위하여 그늘이 지게 하며 그의 괴로움을 면하게 하려 하심이었더라 요나가 박넝쿨로 말미암아 크게 기뻐하였더니
[7] 하나님이 벌레를 예비하사 이튿날 새벽에 그 박넝쿨을 갉아먹게 하시매 시드니라
[8] 해가 뜰 때에 하나님이 뜨거운 동풍을 예비하셨고 해는 요나의 머리에 쪼이매 요나가 혼미하여 스스로 죽기를 구하여 이르되 사는 것보다 죽는 것이 내게 나으니이다 하니라
[9] 하나님이 요나에게 이르시되 네가 이 박넝쿨로 말미암아 성내는 것이 어찌 옳으냐 하시니 그가 대답하되 내가 성내어 죽기까지 할지라도 옳으니이다 하니라
[10] 여호와께서 이르시되 네가 수고도 아니하였고 재배도 아니하였고 하룻밤에 났다가 하룻밤에 말라 버린 이 박넝쿨을 아꼈거든
[11] 하물며 이 큰 성읍 니느웨에는 좌우를 분변하지 못하는 자가 십이만여 명이요 가축도 많이 있나니 내가 어찌 아끼지 아니하겠느냐 하시니라
