Beautiful Unity		아름다운 연합
[ Ephesians 4:1 - 4:16 ] - hymn 219 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. - Ephesians 4:3 Seeing three large predatory animals cuddle and play together is extremely unusual. Yet this is precisely what happens daily in an animal sanctuary in Georgia. In 2001, after months of neglect and abuse, a lion, a Bengal tiger, and a black bear were rescued by Noah¡¯s Ark Animal Sanctuary. ¡°We could have separated them,¡± said the assistant director. ¡°But since they came as a kind of family, we decided to keep them together.¡± The trio had found comfort in each other during their time of mistreatment, and, despite their differences, they live peacefully together. Unity is a beautiful thing. But the unity Paul wrote about in his letter to the believers in Ephesus is unique. Paul encouraged the Ephesians to live up to their calling as members of one body in Christ(Eph.4:4–5). By the power of the Holy Spirit they would be able to live in unity as they developed humility, gentleness, and patience. These attitudes also allow us to lovingly bear ¡°with one another in love¡± through the common ground we have in Christ Jesus(4:2). Despite our differences, as members of the family of God we have been reconciled to Him through the death of our Savior and reconciled to each other through the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.		[ 에베소서 4:1 - 4:16 ] - 찬송가 219 장 평안의 매는 줄로 성령이 하나 되게 하신 것을 힘써 지키라 - 에베소서 4:3 세 마리의 커다란 맹수가 서로 끌어안고 장난치는 모습은 지극히 보기 드문 장면입니다. 그러나 조지아 주에 있는 한 동물보호소에서 이 일이 매일 실제로 일어나고 있습니다. 2001년 노아방주 동물보호소는 여러 달 동안 학대와 방치 상태로 있던 사자와 벵갈 호랑이, 흑곰을 구출했습니다. 그곳의 부소장은 말합니다. “우리는 그들을 따로 떼어놓을 수도 있었습니다. 하지만 그들이 한 가족으로 왔기 때문에 한 우리에 같이 두기로 했습니다.” 이 세 마리는 전에 함께 학대를 받으면서 서로에게서 위안을 얻었던 터라, 서로의 차이점에도 불구하고 지금 평화롭게 같이 잘 지내고 있습니다. 하나가 된다는 것은 아름다운 것입니다. 그러나 바울이 에베소교인들에게 보낸 편지에서 언급한 연합은 좀 특이합니다. 바울은 에베소교인들에게 그리스도 안에서 한 몸으로 부르심을 받은 사람답게 살라고 격려하였습니다(엡 4:4-5). 그들은 성령의 능력으로 겸손함과 친절함과 오래 참음을 키워나가며 함께 연합하며 살 수 있었을 것입니다. 우리도 이런 태도를 가질 때 예수 그리스도 안에서 같은 믿음으로 “사랑 가운데 서로” 용납할 수 있게 됩니다(4:2). 우리도 서로 다름에도 불구하고, 하나님 가족의 일원으로서 우리 구주의 죽음을 통해 하나님과 화목하게 되었고, 또 우리 삶에 매일 역사하시는 성령님을 통해 서로 화목하게 되었습니다.

Heavenly Father, help me to grow in gentleness and patience toward others. Show me how to love others, even when we may have differences.

We keep unity by being united in the Spirit.

Ephesians 4:1-6

[1] I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,
[2] with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,
[3] endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
[4] There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;
[5] one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
[6] one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

하나님 아버지, 다른 사람들에게 점점 더 친절하고 오래 참을 수 있도록 도와주소서. 우리가 서로 다를 때라도 어떻게 다른 사람들을 사랑할 수 있는지를 보여주소서.

우리는 성령 안에서 하나 될 때 계속 연합할 수 있다.

에베소서 4:1-6

[1] 그러므로 주 안에서 갇힌 내가 너희를 권하노니 너희가 부르심을 받은 일에 합당하게 행하여
[2] 모든 겸손과 온유로 하고 오래 참음으로 사랑 가운데서 서로 용납하고
[3] 평안의 매는 줄로 성령이 하나 되게 하신 것을 힘써 지키라
[4] 몸이 하나요 성령도 한 분이시니 이와 같이 너희가 부르심의 한 소망 안에서 부르심을 받았느니라
[5] 주도 한 분이시요 믿음도 하나요 침례도 하나요
[6] 하나님도 한 분이시니 곧 만유의 아버지시라 만유 위에 계시고 만유를 통일하시고 만유 가운데 계시도다
