Keep Up the Good Work		계속 잘 하라
[ 1 Thessalonians 4:1 - 4:12 ] - hymn 436 We ... urge you ... to do this more and more. - 1 Thessalonians 4:1 My son loves to read. If he reads more books than what is required at school, he receives an award certificate. That bit of encouragement motivates him to keep up the good work. When Paul wrote to the Thessalonians he motivated them not with an award but with words of encouragement. He said, ¡°Brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more¡± (1 Thess. 4:1). These Christians were pleasing God through their lives, and Paul encouraged them to continue to live more and more for Him. Maybe today you and I are giving our best to know and love and please our Father. Let¡¯s take Paul¡¯s words as an incentive to continue on in our faith. But let¡¯s go one step further. Who might we encourage today with Paul¡¯s words? Does someone come to mind who is diligent in following the Lord and seeking to please Him? Write a note or make a phone call and urge this person to keep on in their faith journey with Him. What you say may be just what they need to continue following and serving Jesus.		[ 데살로니가전서 4:1 - 4:12 ] - 찬송가 436 장 우리가…권면하노니…더욱 많이 힘쓰라 - 데살로니가전서 4:1 우리 아들은 책 읽기를 좋아합니다. 학교에서 읽으라고 하는 것보다 더 많은 책을 읽으면 아들은 상장을 받습니다. 그런 작은 격려가 아들이 책을 계속 잘 읽도록 동기를 부여합니다. 바울은 데살로니가 교인들에게 서신을 보내어 상이 아닌 격려의 말로 그들을 권면했습니다. “형제자매 여러분, 끝으로 우리는 주 예수 안에서 여러분에게 부탁하며 권면합니다. 여러분은 어떻게 살아야 하며, 어떻게 하나님을 기쁘게 해 드려야 할 것인지를 우리에게서 배운 대로 하고 있으니, 더욱 그렇게 하십시오”(살전 4:1, 새번역). 그들의 삶을 통해 하나님을 기쁘시게 하고 있었던 데살로니가 교인들에게 바울은 멈추지 말고 더욱더 주님을 위해 살라고 격려했습니다. 아마 당신과 나도 하나님 아버지를 알고 사랑하고 기쁘시게 하는 일에 오늘 최선을 다하고 있을 것입니다. 우리도 바울의 말을 격려 삼아 믿음 안에서 계속 정진하도록 합시다. 그런데 한 걸음 더 나아가 봅시다. 오늘 우리가 바울의 말로 누구를 격려할 수 있을까요? 주님을 따르고 기쁘시게 하는데 열심인 누군가가 마음속에 떠오릅니까? 메모를 전해주거나 전화를 해서 주님과의 믿음의 여정을 계속 잘 해나가라고 격려해주십시오. 당신이 건네는 말이 그들이 예수님을 계속 따르고 섬기는 데 있어서 꼭 필요한 말이 될 수 있습니다.

Dear Lord, thank You for encouraging me through Your Word to keep living for You.

Encourage someone today to keep living for God.

1 Thessalonians 4:1–12

[1] Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God;
[2] for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
[3] For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality;
[4] that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
[5] not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God;
[6] that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.
[7] For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.
[8] Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.
[9] But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;
[10] and indeed you do so toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more;
[11] that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,
[12] that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.

사랑하는 주님, 계속해서 주님을 위해 살라는 말씀으로 저를 격려해주셔서 감사합니다.

오늘 누군가에게 계속 하나님을 위해 살라고 격려해주라.

데살로니가전서 4:1–12

[1] 그러므로 형제들아 우리가 끝으로 주 예수 안에서 너희에게 구하고 권면하노니 너희가 마땅히 어떻게 행하며 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 있는지를 우리에게 배웠으니 곧 너희가 행하는 바라 더욱 많이 힘쓰라
[2] 우리가 주 예수로 말미암아 너희에게 무슨 명령으로 준 것을 너희가 아느니라
[3] 하나님의 뜻은 이것이니 너희의 거룩함이라 곧 음란을 버리고
[4] 각각 거룩함과 존귀함으로 자기의 아내 대할 줄을 알고
[5] 하나님을 모르는 이방인과 같이 색욕을 따르지 말고
[6] 이 일에 분수를 넘어서 형제를 해하지 말라 이는 우리가 너희에게 미리 말하고 증언한 것과 같이 이 모든 일에 주께서 신원하여 주심이라
[7] 하나님이 우리를 부르심은 부정하게 하심이 아니요 거룩하게 하심이니
[8] 그러므로 저버리는 자는 사람을 저버림이 아니요 너희에게 그의 성령을 주신 하나님을 저버림이니라
[9] 형제 사랑에 관하여는 너희에게 쓸 것이 없음은 너희들 자신이 하나님의 가르치심을 받아 서로 사랑함이라
[10] 너희가 온 마게도냐 모든 형제에 대하여 과연 이것을 행하도다 형제들아 권하노니 더욱 그렇게 행하고
[11] 또 너희에게 명한 것 같이 조용히 자기 일을 하고 너희 손으로 일하기를 힘쓰라
[12] 이는 외인에 대하여 단정히 행하고 또한 아무 궁핍함이 없게 하려 함이라
