Making Preparations		준비 작업
[ John 14:1 - 14:6 ] - hymn 479 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. - John 14:3 As we viewed my father-in-law¡¯s body in his casket at the funeral home, one of his sons took his dad¡¯s hammer and tucked it alongside his folded hands. Years later, when my mother-in-law died, one of the children slipped a set of knitting needles under her fingers. Those sweet gestures brought comfort to us as we remembered how often they had used those tools during their lives. Of course, we knew that they wouldn¡¯t actually need those items in eternity. We had no illusions, as the ancient Egyptians did, that tools or money or weapons buried with someone would better prepare them for the next life. You can¡¯t take it with you! (Ps.49:16–17; 1 Tim.6:7). But some preparation for eternity had been necessary for my in-laws. That preparation had come years before when they trusted Jesus as their Savior. Planning for the life to come can¡¯t begin at the time of our death. Each of us prepares our heart by accepting the gift of salvation made possible by Jesus¡¯s sacrifice on the cross. At the same time, God has made preparations as well: ¡°If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am¡±(John 14:3). He has promised to prepare a place for us to spend eternity with Him. - Cindy Hess Kasper		[ 요한복음 14:1 - 14:6 ] - 찬송가 479 장 가서 너희를 위하여 거처를 예비하면 내가 다시 와서 너희를 내게로 영접하여 나 있는 곳에 너희도 있게 하리라 - 요한복음 14:3 장례식장에서 관에 누워 있는 시아버지의 시신에 조의를 표하고 있을 때, 그의 아들 중 하나가 자기 아버지가 사용하던 망치를 시신의 포개진 두 손 사이에 끼워 넣었습니다. 몇 년 후 시어머니께서 돌아가셨을 때에도 자녀 중 한 명이 어머니의 뜨개질바늘 세트를 손가락 밑에 넣었습니다. 그런 다정스런 행동들을 통해 우리는 그들이 평소에 그 도구들을 얼마나 자주 사용하였는지 기억하며 위로를 받았습니다. 물론 우리는 그것들이 영원한 세상에서 실제로 필요하지 않다는 것을 알고 있었습니다. 우리에게는 고대 이집트인들에게 있었던, 이런 도구나 돈, 무기 같은 것들을 함께 묻음으로써 내세의 삶을 더 잘 준비할 수 있게 해준다는 환상이 없었습니다. 우리는 죽을 때 가지고 갈 수 있는 것이 아무것도 없습니다(시 49:16-17; 딤전 6:7). 그러나 내 시댁 식구들에게는 영생을 위한 준비가 필요했는데, 그 준비는 오래전 그들이 예수님을 구주로 영접했을 때 시작되었습니다. 영생을 위한 준비는 우리가 숨을 거둘 때 시작할 수 없습니다. 우리 각자는 예수님이 십자가에서 희생하심으로써 주어진 구원의 선물을 받아들여 우리 마음을 준비해야 합니다. 동시에 하나님도 이미 준비를 하셨습니다. “가서 너희를 위하여 거처를 예비하면 내가 다시 와서 너희를 내게로 영접하여 나 있는 곳에 너희도 있게 하리라”(요 14:3). 하나님은 우리가 그분과 함께 영원히 살 곳을 예비하시겠다고 약속해주셨습니다.

Father, we're grateful that we will have a place with You one day. Thank You that you will fill us with joy in Your presence.

God gives us time—to prepare for eternity.

John 14:1–6

[1] "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
[2] "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
[3] "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
[4] "And where I go you know, and the way you know."
[5] Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?"
[6] Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

하나님 아버지, 언젠가 우리가 하나님과 같이 지낼 곳을 예비해주시니 감사합니다. 하나님 앞에서 저희를 기쁨으로 채워주실 것을 감사합니다.

하나님은 우리에게 영생을 준비할 수 있는 시간을 주신다.

요한복음 14:1–6

[1] 너희는 마음에 근심하지 말라 하나님을 믿으니 또 나를 믿으라
[2] 내 아버지 집에 거할 곳이 많도다 그렇지 않으면 너희에게 일렀으리라 내가 너희를 위하여 거처를 예비하러 가노니

[4] 내가 어디로 가는지 그 길을 너희가 아느니라
[5] 도마가 이르되 주여 주께서 어디로 가시는지 우리가 알지 못하거늘 그 길을 어찌 알겠사옵나이까
[6] 예수께서 이르시되 내가 곧 길이요 진리요 생명이니 나로 말미암지 않고는 아버지께로 올 자가 없느니라
