Watch and Pray		깨어 있어 기도하라
[ Mark 14:32 - 14:42 ] - hymn 369 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. - Mark 14:38 From my window I can see a 1,700-meter hill called the Cerro del Borrego or ¡°Hill of the Sheep.¡± In 1862, the French army invaded Mexico. While the enemy camped in the central park of Orizaba, the Mexican army established its position at the top of the hill. However, the Mexican general neglected to guard access to the top. While the Mexican troops were sleeping, the French attacked and killed 2,000 of them. This reminds me of another hill, the Mount of Olives, and the garden at its foot where a group of disciples fell asleep. Jesus rebuked them, saying, ¡°Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak¡±(Mark 14:38). How easy it is to sleep or become careless in our Christian walk. Temptation strikes when we are most vulnerable. When we neglect certain areas of our spiritual lives—such as prayer and Bible study—we become drowsy and let our guard down, making us easy targets for our enemy, Satan, to strike (1 Peter 5:8). We need to be alert to the possibilities of an attack and pray to maintain vigilance. If we remain watchful and pray—for ourselves and for others—the Spirit will enable us to resist temptation.		[ 마가복음 14:32 - 14:42 ] - 찬송가 369 장 시험에 들지 않게 깨어 있어 기도하라 - 마가복음 14:38 우리 집 창문을 통해 나는 ‘쎄로 델 보레고’, 즉 “양들의 언덕”이라는 1,700미터 높이의 언덕을 볼 수 있습니다. 1862년에 프랑스가 멕시코를 침공했을 때, 적군이 오리자바의 중앙공원에 진영을 차리자, 멕시코 군대는 그 언덕 꼭대기에 자리를 잡았습니다. 그러나 멕시코의 장군은 그 정상에 이르는 길의 경계를 등한히 하여, 멕시코 군인들이 잠자고 있을 때 프랑스 군대가 공격하여 멕시코 군인 2,000명을 죽였습니다. 이 사건은 나에게 감람산이라는 또 다른 언덕과, 제자들이 잠들어버렸던 그 언덕 밑의 동산을 생각나게 해줍니다. 예수님은 그들을 꾸짖으시며, “시험에 들지 않게 깨어 있어 기도하라 마음에는 원이로되 육신이 약하도다”(막 14:38)라고 말씀하셨습니다. 우리가 그리스도인으로 살아가면서 얼마나 쉽게 잠들어버리거나 부주의하게 되는지요. 우리가 가장 나약할 때 유혹이 우리를 공격합니다. 기도나 성경공부 같은 우리의 영적 생활을 등한히 할 때, 우리는 졸려서 경계를 늦추게 되고, 따라서 우리의 적인 사탄이 우리를 쉽게 공격합니다(벧전 5:8). 사탄의 공격이 있을 수 있다는 것을 경계하고, 깨어 있어 기도해야 합니다. 우리 자신이나 이웃을 위해 깨어 기도하면 성령께서 우리로 시험을 이길 수 있게 하십니다.

Lord Jesus, I know my spirit is willing, but my body is weak. Help me to watch and pray today for myself and for others.

Satan is powerless against the power of Christ.

Mark 14:32–42

[32] Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, "Sit here while I pray."
[33] And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed.
[34] Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch."
[35] He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him.
[36] And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will."
[37] Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour?
[38] "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
[39] Again He went away and prayed, and spoke the same words.
[40] And when He returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him.
[41] Then He came the third time and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
[42] "Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand."

주 예수님, 제 마음은 원하지만 제 육신이 약하다는 것을 압니다.
오늘도 저 자신과 다른 사람들을 위해 깨어 기도할 수 있게 도와주소서.

그리스도의 능력에 사탄은 아무 힘도 쓸 수 없다.

마가복음 14:32–42

[32] 그들이 겟세마네라 하는 곳에 이르매 예수께서 제자들에게 이르시되 내가 기도할 동안에 너희는 여기 앉아 있으라 하시고
[33] 베드로와 야고보와 요한을 데리고 가실새 심히 놀라시며 슬퍼하사
[34] 말씀하시되 내 마음이 심히 고민하여 죽게 되었으니 너희는 여기 머물러 깨어 있으라 하시고
[35] 조금 나아가사 땅에 엎드리어 될 수 있는 대로 이 때가 자기에게서 지나가기를 구하여
[36] 이르시되 아빠 아버지여 아버지께는 모든 것이 가능하오니 이 잔을 내게서 옮기시옵소서 그러나 나의 원대로 마시옵고 아버지의 원대로 하옵소서 하시고
[37] 돌아오사 제자들이 자는 것을 보시고 베드로에게 말씀하시되 시몬아 자느냐 네가 한 시간도 깨어 있을 수 없더냐
[38] 시험에 들지 않게 깨어 있어 기도하라 마음에는 원이로되 육신이 약하도다 하시고
[39] 다시 나아가 동일한 말씀으로 기도하시고
[40] 다시 오사 보신즉 그들이 자니 이는 그들의 눈이 심히 피곤함이라 그들이 예수께 무엇으로 대답할 줄을 알지 못하더라
[41] 세 번째 오사 그들에게 이르시되 이제는 자고 쉬라 그만 되었다 때가 왔도다 보라 인자가 죄인의 손에 팔리느니라
[42] 일어나라 함께 가자 보라 나를 파는 자가 가까이 왔느니라
