At Risk of Falling		넘어질 위험
[ 1 Corinthians 10:1 - 10:13 ] - hymn 424 If you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don¡¯t fall! - 1 Corinthians 10:12 When my friend Elaine was recovering after a bad fall, a hospital worker placed a bright yellow bracelet on her wrist. It read: Fall Risk. That phrase meant: Watch this person carefully. She may be unsteady on her feet. Help her get from place to place. First Corinthians 10 contains something like a ¡°Fall Risk¡± warning for believers. With a glance back at his ancestors, Paul noted the human potential to fall into sin. The Israelites complained, worshiped idols, and had immoral relationships. God grew unhappy with them and allowed them to experience consequences for their wrongdoing. However, Paul said, ¡°These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us ... So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don¡¯t fall!¡±(vv. 11–12). It¡¯s easy to trick ourselves into believing that we¡¯re done with a particular sort of sin. Even when we¡¯ve struggled through the worst of it—admitting our problem, repenting, and recommitting ourselves to following God¡¯s ways—temptation may come calling. God makes it possible for us to avoid falling back into the same patterns. He does this by providing a way out of the sinful act we¡¯re considering. Our part is to respond to His offer of escape.		[ 고린도전서 10:1 - 10:13 ] - 찬송가 424 장 그런즉 선 줄로 생각하는 자는 넘어질까 조심하라 - 고린도전서 10:12 내 친구 일레인이 심하게 넘어진 후 회복 중에 있을 때, 병원 직원이 그녀의 팔목에 밝은 노란색 팔찌를 달아주었습니다. 거기엔 ‘넘어질 위험이 있음’이라는 글이 쓰여 있었습니다. 말하자면, 이 사람을 주의해서 지켜보고, 그녀의 발이 아직 회복되지 않았기 때문에 여기 저기 다닐 때 그녀를 도와주라는 뜻입니다. 고린도전서 10장에도 신자들에게 주는 “넘어질 위험이 있음”과 같은 경고가 있습니다. 바울은 그의 조상들을 뒤돌아보면서, 죄에 빠질 가능성이 있는 인간의 모습을 지적합니다. 이스라엘 백성들은 불평하고, 우상을 섬겼으며, 부도덕한 관계들을 맺었습니다. 하나님은 점차 그들을 기뻐하지 않으시고, 그들 스스로 죄의 결과를 경험해보도록 내버려두셨습니다. 그러나 바울은 이렇게 기록합니다. “그들에게 일어난 이런 일은 본보기가 되고 또한…우리를 깨우치기 위하여 기록되었느니라 그런즉 선 줄로 생각하는 자는 넘어질까 조심하라”(11-12절). 우리는 쉽게 속아 어떤 특별한 죄는 우리와 상관없다고 믿어버립니다. 우리 문제를 시인하고, 회개하고, 하나님의 길을 따르기로 다시 헌신하는 등, 죄의 최악의 상황까지 다 거쳤을 때조차도 유혹의 음성이 다시 들리기도 합니다. 그러나 하나님은 우리가 계속 생각하며 매여 있는 죄의 행동에서 벗어나는 길을 제시해주심으로써 똑같은 죄에 다시 넘어지는 것을 피할 수 있게 해주십니다. 우리의 할 일은 하나님이 피할 길을 보여주실 때 그에 응답하는 것입니다.

Lord, let me see the way of escape You offer when I am tempted. Give me the strength to accept Your help so I can stay faithful to You. I know this is Your desire for me, and I thank You that You are at work in me.

Great blessings are often followed by great temptations.

1 Corinthians 10:1–13

[1] Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea,
[2] all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,
[3] all ate the same spiritual food,
[4] and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
[5] But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
[6] Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
[7] And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."
[8] Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell;
[9] nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents;
[10] nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.
[11] Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.
[12] Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
[13] No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

주님, 제가 유혹 받을 때 하나님이 보여주시는 피할 길을 볼 수 있게 하소서. 주님의 도움을 받을 힘을 주셔서 늘 주님께 신실할 수 있게 하소서. 이것이 하나님이 제게 원하시는 것임을 압니다. 제 안에서 역사하시는 하나님께 감사드립니다.

큰 축복에는 종종 큰 유혹이 뒤따라온다.

고린도전서 10:1–13

[1] 형제들아 나는 너희가 알지 못하기를 원하지 아니하노니 우리 조상들이 다 구름 아래에 있고 바다 가운데로 지나며
[2] 모세에게 속하여 다 구름과 바다에서 침례를 받고
[3] 다 같은 신령한 음식을 먹으며
[4] 다 같은 신령한 음료를 마셨으니 이는 그들을 따르는 신령한 반석으로부터 마셨으매 그 반석은 곧 그리스도시라
[5] 그러나 그들의 다수를 하나님이 기뻐하지 아니하셨으므로 그들이 광야에서 멸망을 받았느니라
[6] 이러한 일은 우리의 본보기가 되어 우리로 하여금 그들이 악을 즐겨 한 것 같이 즐겨 하는 자가 되지 않게 하려 함이니
[7] 그들 가운데 어떤 사람들과 같이 너희는 우상 숭배하는 자가 되지 말라 기록된 바 백성이 앉아서 먹고 마시며 일어나서 뛰논다 함과 같으니라
[8] 그들 중의 어떤 사람들이 음행하다가 하루에 이만 삼천 명이 죽었나니 우리는 그들과 같이 음행하지 말자
[9] 그들 가운데 어떤 사람들이 주를 시험하다가 뱀에게 멸망하였나니 우리는 그들과 같이 시험하지 말자
[10] 그들 가운데 어떤 사람들이 원망하다가 멸망시키는 자에게 멸망하였나니 너희는 그들과 같이 원망하지 말라
[11] 그들에게 일어난 이런 일은 본보기가 되고 또한 말세를 만난 우리를 깨우치기 위하여 기록되었느니라
[12] 그런즉 선 줄로 생각하는 자는 넘어질까 조심하라
[13] 사람이 감당할 시험 밖에는 너희가 당한 것이 없나니 오직 하나님은 미쁘사 너희가 감당하지 못할 시험 당함을 허락하지 아니하시고 시험 당할 즈음에 또한 피할 길을 내사 너희로 능히 감당하게 하시느니라
