Comparison Obsession		비교 강박관념
[ Matthew 20:1 - 20:16 ] - hymn 300 Don¡¯t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous? - Matthew 20:15 Thomas J. DeLong, a professor at Harvard Business School, has noted a disturbing trend among his students and colleagues—a ¡°comparison obsession." He writes: ¡°More so than ever before, ... business executives, Wall Street analysts, lawyers, doctors, and other professionals are obsessed with comparing their own achievements against those of others ... This is bad for individuals and bad for companies. When you define success based on external rather than internal criteria, you diminish your satisfaction and commitment.¡± Comparison obsession isn¡¯t new. The Scriptures warn us of the dangers of comparing ourselves to others. When we do so, we become proud and look down on them (Luke 18:9–14). Or we become jealous and want to be like them or have what they have (James 4:1). We fail to focus on what God has given us to do. Jesus intimated that comparison obsession comes from believing that God is unfair and that He doesn¡¯t have a right to be more generous to others than He is to us (Matt.20:1–16). By God¡¯s grace we can learn to overcome comparison obsession by focusing on the life God has given to us. As we take moments to thank God for everyday blessings, we change our thinking and begin to believe deep down that God is good.		[ 마태복음 20:1 - 20:16 ] - 찬송가 300 장 내 것을 가지고 내 뜻대로 할 것이 아니냐 내가 선하므로 네가 악하게 보느냐 - 마태복음 20:15 하버드대학교 경영대학의 토마스 제이 드롱 교수는 그의 학생들이나 동료들 사이에서 발견되는 불안해하는 경향인 ‘비교 강박관념’에 대해 주목했습니다. 그는 이렇게 썼습니다. “이전보다 더 많이 … 기업의 임원이나 월스트리트 분석가, 변호사, 의사, 그리고 다른 전문인들이 자신들의 업적을 다른 사람들과 비교하려는 강박관념에 사로 잡혀있다. … 이것은 개인에게도 회사에도 좋지 않다. 당신이 성공의 정의를 내부보다 외부의 척도에 기반을 둘 때, 당신의 만족과 헌신은 약화되어 버린다.” 비교 강박관념이 새로운 것은 아닙니다. 성경은 우리 자신을 다른 사람들과 비교하는 것의 위험성을 경고하고 있습니다. 우리가 그렇게 비교할 때, 우리는 교만해져서 다른 사람들을 업신여기게 되거나(눅 18:9-14), 질투하여 그들과 같이 되고 싶거나 그들이 가진 것을 갖고 싶게 됩니다(약 4:1). 우리는 하나님께서 맡겨주신 사명에 초점을 두지 않게 됩니다. 예수님은 그런 비교 강박관념은 하나님이 공평하지 않으시고 우리보다 다른 사람들에게 더 관대하실 권리가 없다고 믿는 데서 온다고 암시하셨습니다(마 20:1-16). 하나님의 은혜로 우리는 하나님께서 우리에게 허락하신 삶에 집중함으로써 비교 강박관념을 극복하는 것을 배울 수 있습니다. 하나님께서 베푸신 매일의 축복들을 감사하는 시간을 가질 때, 우리의 생각이 바뀌고 하나님의 선하심에 대한 깊은 신뢰가 시작됩니다.

I need a better focus, Lord. Help me to keep my eyes off others and instead on You and Your good heart for all of us.

God expresses His goodness to His children in His own way.

Matthew 20:1–16

[1] "For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.
[2] "Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
[3] "And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,
[4] "and said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.' So they went.
[5] "Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise.
[6] "And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, 'Why have you been standing here idle all day?'
[7] "They said to him, 'Because no one hired us.' He said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive.'
[8] "So when evening had come, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, 'Call the laborers and give them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.'
[9] "And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a denarius.
[10] "But when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received each a denarius.
[11] "And when they had received it, they complained against the landowner,
[12] "saying, 'These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.'
[13] "But he answered one of them and said, 'Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius?
[14] 'Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you.
[15] 'Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?'
[16] "So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen."

주님, 제 초점을 제대로 맞추게 해주소서. 다른 사람들에게 향한 제 시선을 떼어서 주님에게로, 그리고 우리를 향한 주님의 선하신 마음으로 향할 수 있도록 도와주소서.

하나님은 그분의 선하심을 그분의 방법대로 자기 자녀들에게 표현하신다.

마태복음 20:1–16

[1] 천국은 마치 품꾼을 얻어 포도원에 들여보내려고 이른 아침에 나간 집 주인과 같으니
[2] 그가 하루 한 데나리온씩 품꾼들과 약속하여 포도원에 들여보내고
[3] 또 제삼시에 나가 보니 장터에 놀고 서 있는 사람들이 또 있는지라
[4] 그들에게 이르되 너희도 포도원에 들어가라 내가 너희에게 상당하게 주리라 하니 그들이 가고
[5] 제육시와 제구시에 또 나가 그와 같이 하고
[6] 제십일시에도 나가 보니 서 있는 사람들이 또 있는지라 이르되 너희는 어찌하여 종일토록 놀고 여기 서 있느냐
[7] 이르되 우리를 품꾼으로 쓰는 이가 없음이니이다 이르되 너희도 포도원에 들어가라 하니라
[8] 저물매 포도원 주인이 청지기에게 이르되 품꾼들을 불러 나중 온 자로부터 시작하여 먼저 온 자까지 삯을 주라 하니
[9] 제십일시에 온 자들이 와서 한 데나리온씩을 받거늘
[10] 먼저 온 자들이 와서 더 받을 줄 알았더니 그들도 한 데나리온씩 받은지라
[11] 받은 후 집 주인을 원망하여 이르되
[12] 나중 온 이 사람들은 한 시간밖에 일하지 아니하였거늘 그들을 종일 수고하며 더위를 견딘 우리와 같게 하였나이다
[13] 주인이 그 중의 한 사람에게 대답하여 이르되 친구여 내가 네게 잘못한 것이 없노라 네가 나와 한 데나리온의 약속을 하지 아니하였느냐
[14] 네 것이나 가지고 가라 나중 온 이 사람에게 너와 같이 주는 것이 내 뜻이니라
[15] 내 것을 가지고 내 뜻대로 할 것이 아니냐 내가 선하므로 네가 악하게 보느냐
[16] 이와 같이 나중 된 자로서 먼저 되고 먼저 된 자로서 나중 되리라
