Misplaced Trust		잘못된 신뢰
[ Psalms 20 ] - hymn 447 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. - Psalm 20:7 I like watching birds, an activity I developed while growing up in a forest village in Ghana where there were many different species of birds. In the city suburb where I now live, I recently observed the behavior of some crows that interested me. Flying toward a tree that had shed most of its leaves, the crows decided to take a rest. But instead of settling on the sturdy branches, they lighted on the dry and weak limbs that quickly gave way. They flapped their way out of danger—only to repeat the useless effort. Apparently their bird-sense didn't tell them that the solid branches were more trustworthy and secure resting places. How about us? Where do we place our trust? David observes in Psalm 20:7: ¡°Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.¡± Chariots and horses represent material and human assets. While these represent things that are useful in daily life, they don¡¯t give us security in times of trouble. If we place our trust in things or possessions or wealth, we will find that they eventually give way beneath us, as the branches gave way beneath the crows. Those who trust in their chariots and horses can be ¡°brought to their knees and fall,¡± but those who trust in God will ¡°rise up and stand firm¡±(v.8). — Lawrence Darmani		[ 시편 20 ] - 찬송가 447 장 어떤 사람은 병거, 어떤 사람은 말을 의지하나 우리는 여호와 우리 하나님의 이름을 자랑하리로다 - 시편 20:7 나는 새들을 관찰하는 것을 좋아하는데, 그것은 내가 다양한 종류의 새들이 살고 있는 가나의 숲 속 마을에서 자라면서 얻게 된 취미입니다. 나는 최근에 지금 살고 있는 교외 주택가에서 어떤 까마귀들의 흥미로운 행동을 관찰하게 되었습니다. 잎이 거의 다 떨어진 나무로 날아가던 까마귀들은 휴식을 취하기로 했습니다. 그런데 튼튼한 나뭇가지를 택하지 않고 마르고 약한 곁가지 위에 앉자 그 가지들이 바로 부러져버렸습니다. 그들은 날개를 퍼덕여 위험에서 벗어났지만, 그 아무 소용없는 행동을 되풀이했습니다. 아무래도 새의 감각은 그들에게 견고한 가지가 더 믿을만하고 쉬기에 더 안전한 곳이라는 것을 알려주지 않는 것 같았습니다. 우리는 어떻습니까? 우리는 우리의 믿음을 어디에 두고 있습니까? 다윗은 시편 20편 7절에서 “어떤 사람은 병거, 어떤 사람은 말을 의지하나 우리는 여호와 우리 하나님의 이름을 자랑하리로다”라고 말하고 있습니다. 병거와 말은 물질과 인간의 재산을 나타냅니다. 그것들은 일상생활에 유용한 것들이지만, 어려울 때에 우리를 안전하게 지켜주지 못합니다. 우리가 물건이나 재물, 또는 재산을 신뢰하면, 까마귀들 밑에서 나뭇가지들이 부러져나간 것처럼 그것들도 결국에는 우리 밑에서 부러져나가게 될 것입니다. 자신의 병거와 말을 신뢰하는 사람들은 “비틀거리며 엎드러지고”, 하나님을 신뢰하는 사람들은 “일어나 바로 서”게 될 것입니다(20:8).

Psalm 20

[1] To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you;
[2] May He send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion;
[3] May He remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah
[4] May He grant you according to your heart's desire, And fulfill all your purpose.
[5] We will rejoice in your salvation, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions.
[6] Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand.
[7] Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
[8] They have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and stand upright.
[9] Save, LORD! May the King answer us when we call.

혹시 어떤 사람이나 무언가를 신뢰했다가 실망하거나 낙심한 적이 있으십니까? 그것이 누구이며 무엇이었습니까? 당신은 무엇을 가장 신뢰하십니까?

이 세상은 변해도 우리는 변치 않으시는 하나님을 신뢰할 수 있다.
