[ Matthew 10:35 - 10:42 ] - hymn 311 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. - Matthew 10:39 In the midday heat of summer, while traveling in the American South, my wife and I stopped for ice cream. On the wall behind the counter we saw a sign reading, ¡°Absolutely No Snowmobiling.¡± The humor worked because it was so unexpected. Sometimes saying the unexpected has the most effect. Think of this in regard to a statement by Jesus: ¡°Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it¡±(Matt.10:39). In a kingdom where the King is a servant(Mark 10:45), losing your life becomes the only way to find it. This is a startling message to a world focused on self-promotion and self-protection. In practical terms, how can we ¡°lose our life¡±? The answer is summed up in the word sacrifice. When we sacrifice, we put into practice Jesus¡¯s way of living. Instead of grasping for our own wants and needs, we esteem the needs and well-being of others. Jesus not only taught about sacrifice but He also lived it by giving Himself for us. His death on the cross became the ultimate expression of the heart of the King who lived up to His own words:¡°Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one¡¯s life for one¡¯s friends¡±(John 15:13). — Bill Crowder		[ 마태복음 10:35 - 10:42 ] - 찬송가 311 장 자기 목숨을 얻는 자는 잃을 것이요 나를 위하여 자기 목숨을 잃는 자는 얻으리라 - 마태복음 10:39 여름 한낮의 폭염 아래 미국 남부 지역을 여행하던 중 아내와 나는 아이스크림을 사 먹기 위해 가던 길을 멈췄습니다. 그런데 계산대 뒤 벽면에 “눈썰매는 절대 안 됨”이라고 적혀 있었습니다. 생각지도 못했던 그 농담이 참 재미있었습니다. 이따금 뜻밖의 말은 효과가 매우 큽니다. “자기 목숨을 얻는 자는 잃을 것이요 나를 위하여 자기 목숨을 잃는 자는 얻으리라”(마 10:39)는 예수님의 말씀을 생각해보십시오. 왕이 종인 나라에서는 (막 10:45) 목숨을 잃는 것이 목숨을 얻을 수 있는 유일한 방법입니다. 이것은 자신의 성공과 자신의 보호에 집착하는 세상에 주는 아주 놀라운 메시지입니다. 실제로 우리가 어떻게 “목숨을 잃을” 수 있을까요? 그 답은 ‘희생’이라는 말로 요약될 수 있습니다. 우리가 희생한다는 것은 예수님의 삶의 방식을 실행한다는 것입니다. 우리 자신의 욕구나 필요를 위해 애쓰지 않고 다른 사람들의 필요와 행복을 존중하는 것입니다. 예수님은 희생에 대해 가르쳐주셨을 뿐 아니라 몸소 실천하셔서 우리를 위해 자신을 희생하셨습니다. 그의 십자가의 죽음은 “사람이 친구를 위하여 자기 목숨을 버리면 이보다 더 큰 사랑이 없나니”(요 15:13)라는 주님 자신의 말씀을 삶으로 직접 보여주신, 왕이신 예수님의 마음을 궁극적으로 표현한 것입니다.

Loving Father, teach me the heart of Christ, that I might more fully appreciate the sacrifice He has made for me and be willing to sacrifice myself for others.

Matthew 10:35–42

[35] "For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law';
[36] "and 'a man's enemies will be those of his own household.'
[37] "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
[38] "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
[39] "He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.
[40] "He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.
[41] "He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
[42] "And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward."

사랑하는 하나님 아버지, 나에게 그리스도의 마음을 가르치셔서 나를 위한 주님의 희생에 더욱 감사하게 하시고 나 자신도 남을 위해 기꺼이 희생할 수 있게 하소서.

[35] 내가 온 것은 사람이 그 아버지와, 딸이 어머니와, 며느리가 시어머니와 불화하게 하려 함이니
[36] 사람의 원수가 자기 집안 식구리라
[37] 아버지나 어머니를 나보다 더 사랑하는 자는 내게 합당하지 아니하고 아들이나 딸을 나보다 더 사랑하는 자도 내게 합당하지 아니하며
[38] 또 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 따르지 않는 자도 내게 합당하지 아니하니라
[39] 자기 목숨을 얻는 자는 잃을 것이요 나를 위하여 자기 목숨을 잃는 자는 얻으리라
[40] 너희를 영접하는 자는 나를 영접하는 것이요 나를 영접하는 자는 나를 보내신 이를 영접하는 것이니라
[41] 선지자의 이름으로 선지자를 영접하는 자는 선지자의 상을 받을 것이요 의인의 이름으로 의인을 영접하는 자는 의인의 상을 받을 것이요
[42] 또 누구든지 제자의 이름으로 이 작은 자 중 하나에게 냉수 한 그릇이라도 주는 자는 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 그 사람이 결단코 상을 잃지 아니하리라 하시니라
