Language of Love		사랑의 언어
[ James 3:1 - 3:12 ] - hymn 195 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God¡¯s likeness. - James 3:9 When my grandmother came to Mexico as a missionary, she had a hard time learning Spanish. One day she went to the market. She showed her shopping list to the girl helping her and said, ¡°It¡¯s in two tongues (lenguas).¡± But she meant to say that she had written it in two languages (idiomas). The butcher overheard them and assumed she wanted to purchase two cow tongues. My grandmother didn¡¯t realize it until she got home. She had never cooked beef tongue before! Mistakes are inevitable when we are learning a second language, including learning the new language of God¡¯s love. At times our speech is contradictory because we praise the Lord but then speak badly of others. Our old sinful nature opposes our new life in Christ. What comes out of our mouths shows us how much we need God¡¯s help. Our old ¡°tongue¡± must go away. The only way to learn the new language of love is by making Jesus the Lord of our speech. When the Holy Spirit works in us, He gives us self-control to speak words that please the Father. May we surrender every word to Him! ¡°Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips¡±(Ps.141:3). — Keila Ochoa		[ 야고보서 3:1 - 3:12 ] - 찬송가 195 장 이것으로 우리가 주 아버지를 찬송하고 또 이것으로 하나님의 형상대로 지음을 받은 사람을 저주하나니 - 야고보서 3:9 우리 할머니께서 멕시코에 선교사로 오셨을 때, 스페인어를 배우는데 몹시 힘들어했습니다. 어느 날 할머니는 시장 보러 나갔습니다. 그녀는 시장에서 살 물건이 적힌 쪽지를 가게 점원인 소녀에게 보여주면서, “그 쪽지에는 두 개의 혀(언어)가 있어요.”라고 말했습니다. 할머니의 뜻은 그것을 두 개의 언어로 썼다는 의미였습니다. 그런데 정육점 주인은 그것을 엿듣고는 할머니가 소 혀를 두 개 사기를 원하는 줄로 짐작했습니다. 할머니는 집에 돌아와서야 상황을 알아차렸습니다. 할머니는 소 혀를 요리해본 적이 한 번도 없었습니다! 우리가 외국어를 배울 때 실수하는 일은 피할 수 없으며, 하나님의 사랑에 대한 새 언어를 배울 때도 마찬가지입니다. 때때로 우리의 말은 모순적입니다. 왜냐하면, 우리가 하나님을 찬양하고는 곧 다른 사람에 대해 험담을 하기 때문입니다. 우리의 옛사람이 갖고 있었던 죄성은 그리스도 안에서의 우리의 새로운 삶을 거부합니다. 우리 입에서 나오는 언어들은 우리에게 하나님의 도움이 얼마나 필요한가를 보여줍니다. 우리의 옛 “언어”는 멀리 버려야 합니다. 사랑의 새 언어를 배우는 유일한 방법은 예수님을 우리 말의 주인으로 삼는 것입니다. 성령께서 우리 안에서 역사하실 때, 성령님은 우리가 하나님이 기뻐하시는 말을 하도록 자제력을 주십니다. 우리의 모든 말을 성령님께 복종시킬 수 있기를 바랍니다! “여호와여 내 입에 파수꾼을 세우시고 내 입술의 문을 지키소서”(시 141:3).

Lord Jesus, take control of my mouth today. Forgive me for careless, thoughtless, and angry words. Let my words bless You and others.

May the words we speak point others to Jesus.

James 3:1–12

[1] My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.
[2] For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.
[3] Indeed, we put bits in horses' mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body.
[4] Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.
[5] Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!
[6] And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
[7] For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.
[8] But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
[9] With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.
[10] Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.
[11] Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?
[12] Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.

주 예수님, 오늘 내 입술을 주장하소서. 나의 부주의한 말들, 사려 깊지 못한 말들, 분노의 말들을 용서하소서. 나의 말이 하나님과 다른 사람들에게 축복이 되게 하소서.

우리가 하는 말이 다른 사람들을 예수님께로 향하게 하소서.

야고보서 3:1–12

[1] 내 형제들아 너희는 선생된 우리가 더 큰 심판을 받을 줄 알고 선생이 많이 되지 말라
[2] 우리가 다 실수가 많으니 만일 말에 실수가 없는 자라면 곧 온전한 사람이라 능히 온 몸도 굴레 씌우리라
[3] 우리가 말들의 입에 재갈 물리는 것은 우리에게 순종하게 하려고 그 온 몸을 제어하는 것이라
[4] 또 배를 보라 그렇게 크고 광풍에 밀려가는 것들을 지극히 작은 키로써 사공의 뜻대로 운행하나니
[5] 이와 같이 혀도 작은 지체로되 큰 것을 자랑하도다 보라 얼마나 작은 불이 얼마나 많은 나무를 태우는가
[6] 혀는 곧 불이요 불의의 세계라 혀는 우리 지체 중에서 온 몸을 더럽히고 삶의 수레바퀴를 불사르나니 그 사르는 것이 지옥 불에서 나느니라
[7] 여러 종류의 짐승과 새와 벌레와 바다의 생물은 다 사람이 길들일 수 있고 길들여 왔거니와
[8] 혀는 능히 길들일 사람이 없나니 쉬지 아니하는 악이요 죽이는 독이 가득한 것이라
[9] 이것으로 우리가 주 아버지를 찬송하고 또 이것으로 하나님의 형상대로 지음을 받은 사람을 저주하나니
[10] 한 입에서 찬송과 저주가 나오는도다 내 형제들아 이것이 마땅하지 아니하니라
[11] 샘이 한 구멍으로 어찌 단 물과 쓴 물을 내겠느냐
[12] 내 형제들아 어찌 무화과나무가 감람 열매를, 포도나무가 무화과를 맺겠느냐 이와 같이 짠 물이 단 물을 내지 못하느니라
