[ Exodus 17:8 - 17:16 ] - hymn 291 Aaron and Hur held [Moses¡¯s] hands up—one on one side, one on the other. - Exodus 17:12 Her thirty classmates and their parents watched as Mi¡¯Asya nervously walked to the podium to speak at her fifth grade graduation ceremony. When the principal adjusted the microphone to Mi¡¯Asya¡¯s height, she turned her back to the microphone and the audience. The crowd whispered words of encouragement: ¡°Come on, honey, you can do it.¡± But she didn¡¯t budge. Then a classmate walked to the front and stood by her side. With the principal on one side of Mi¡¯Asya and her friend on the other, the three read her speech together. What a beautiful example of support! Moses needed help and support in the middle of a battle with the Amalekites (Ex.17:10–16). ¡°As long as Moses held up his hands [with the staff of God in his hands], the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning¡±(v.11). When Aaron and Hur saw what was happening, they stood beside Moses, ¡°one on one side, one on the other,¡± and supported his arms when he grew tired. With their support, victory came by sunset. We all need the support of one another. As brothers and sisters in the family of God, we have so many opportunities to encourage one another on our shared journey of faith. And God is right here in our midst giving us His grace to do that. — Anne Cetas		[ 출애굽기 17:8 - 17:16 ] - 찬송가 291 장 아론과 훌이 한 사람은 이쪽에서, 한 사람은 저쪽에서 모세의 손을 붙들어 올렸더니 - 출애굽기 17:12 미아샤는 30명의 급우들과 그들의 부모들이 지켜보는 가운데 5학년 졸업식 연설을 하기 위해 긴장된 모습으로 연단 앞으로 걸어 나갔습니다. 교장선생님이 그녀의 키 높이에 맞춰 마이크를 조절해주자 미아샤는 마이크와 청중을 등지고 돌아섰습니다. 청중들이 나지막이 “괜찮아, 너는 잘 할 수 있어.”라는 격려의 말들을 했지만 그녀는 꼼짝도 하지 않았습니다. 그때 한 급우가 앞으로 걸어 나와 그 곁에 섰습니다. 한쪽에는 교장선생님, 다른 쪽에는 친구, 이렇게 셋이 서서 그들은 연설문을 함께 낭독했습니다. 정말 아름다운 응원의 본보기였지요! 모세는 아말렉과의 전쟁이 한창일 때 도움과 지원이 필요했습니다(출 17:10-16). “모세가 [하나님의 지팡이를 잡은] 손을 들면 이스라엘이 이기고 손을 내리면 아말렉이 이겼습니다”(11절). 아론과 훌은 이 상황을 보고 모세 곁에 서서 “한 사람은 이쪽에서, 한 사람은 저쪽에서” 피곤해진 모세의 팔을 붙들어 올렸습니다. 그들의 도움으로 해가 질 때쯤에 이르러 승리를 거두었습니다. 우리는 모두 서로의 도움이 필요합니다. 하나님 안에서 형제 자매된 우리에게는 믿음 생활하는 동안 서로를 격려할 기회가 아주 많이 있습니다. 그리고 하나님이 바로 여기 우리 가운데 계시면서 우리가 그렇게 할 수 있도록 은혜를 베풀어주십니다.

Exodus 17:8–16

[8] Now Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
[9] And Moses said to Joshua, "Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand."
[10] So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
[11] And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
[12] But Moses' hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
[13] So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
[14] Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven."
[15] And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-LORD-Is-My-Banner;
[16] for he said, "Because the LORD has sworn: the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation."

[10] 여호수아가 모세의 말대로 행하여 아말렉과 싸우고 모세와 아론과 훌은 산 꼭대기에 올라가서
[11] 모세가 손을 들면 이스라엘이 이기고 손을 내리면 아말렉이 이기더니
[12] 모세의 팔이 피곤하매 그들이 돌을 가져다가 모세의 아래에 놓아 그가 그 위에 앉게 하고 아론과 훌이 한 사람은 이쪽에서, 한 사람은 저쪽에서 모세의 손을 붙들어 올렸더니 그 손이 해가 지도록 내려오지 아니한지라
[13] 여호수아가 칼날로 아말렉과 그 백성을 쳐서 무찌르니라
[14] 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 이것을 책에 기록하여 기념하게 하고 여호수아의 귀에 외워 들리라 내가 아말렉을 없이하여 천하에서 기억도 못 하게 하리라
[15] 모세가 제단을 쌓고 그 이름을 여호와 닛시라 하고
[16] 이르되 여호와께서 맹세하시기를 여호와가 아말렉과 더불어 대대로 싸우리라 하셨다 하였더라
