[ Psalms 122:6 - 122:9 ] - hymn 515 I urge ... that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people. - 1 Timothy 2:1 A women¡¯s prayer group in my country holds regular monthly prayer sessions for Ghana and other African countries. When asked why they pray so incessantly for the nations, their leader, Gifty Dadzie, remarked, ¡°Look around, listen to and watch the news. Our nations are hurting: war, disaster, diseases, and violence threaten to overshadow God¡¯s love for humanity and His blessing upon us. We believe God intervenes in the affairs of nations, so we praise Him for His blessings and cry for His intervention.¡± The Bible reveals that God indeed intervenes in the affairs of nations (2 Chron.7:14). And when God intervenes, He uses ordinary people. We may not be assigned huge tasks, but we can play our part to help bring about peace and the righteousness that exalts a nation (Prov.14:34). We can do that through prayer. The apostle Paul wrote, ¡°I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness¡±(1 Tim.2:1–2). As the psalmist exhorted the ancient Israelites to ¡°pray for the peace of Jerusalem¡±(Ps.122:6), so may we pray for the peace and healing of our nations. When we pray in humility, turn from wickedness, and seek God, He hears us. — Lawrence Darmani		[ 시편 122:6 - 122:9 ] - 찬송가 515 장 그러므로 내가 첫째로 권하노니 모든 사람을 위하여 간구와 기도와 도고와 감사를 하되 - 디모데전서 2:1 우리나라(가나)의 한 여성기도모임은 매달 정기적으로 가나와 다른 아프리카 나라들을 위한 기도 시간을 갖습니다. 왜 그토록 쉬지 않고 그 나라들을 위해 기도하는지 그 모임의 지도자 기프티 닷지에게 묻자, 그녀는 다음과 같이 대답했습니다. “주위를 돌아보며 뉴스를 듣고 또 보십시오. 이 나라들은 고통에 신음하고 있습니다. 전쟁과 재해, 질병, 그리고 폭력이 인류를 향한 하나님의 사랑과 그의 축복을 덮어버리려 위협하고 있습니다. 우리는 하나님께서 나라들의 일에 개입하신다고 믿기에, 하나님의 복 주심을 찬양하면서 그분께서 개입하시기를 부르짖는 것입니다.” 성경은 하나님이 실제로 나라들의 일에 개입하신다고 말합니다(대하 7:14). 그리고 하나님께서 개입하실 때에는 평범한 사람들을 사용하십니다. 우리가 큰일을 맡지는 않을지라도, 나라의 평화와 정의를 실현하여 나라를 영화롭게 하는데 우리의 역할을 감당할 수 있습니다(잠 14:34). 우리는 그 일을 기도를 통해 할 수 있습니다. 바울 사도는 이렇게 썼습니다, “그러므로 내가 첫째로 권하노니 모든 사람을 위하여 간구와 기도와 도고와 감사를 하되 임금들과 높은 지위에 있는 모든 사람을 위하여 하라 이는 우리가 모든 경건과 단정함으로 고요하고 평안한 생활을 하려 함이라”(딤전 2:1-2). 시편기자가 옛 이스라엘 사람들에게 “예루살렘을 위하여 평안을 구하라”(시 122:6)라고 권면했듯이 우리도 우리의 나라들의 평화와 치유를 위해 기도할 수 있습니다. 우리가 겸손히 기도하며 악을 버리고 하나님을 구할 때, 그분은 우리의 기도를 들어주십니다.

Lord, we pray today for the peace of our nations. We ask for Your intervention as we turn to You in confession and repentance. We praise You for Your blessing and Your provision.

Prayer for those in authority is both a privilege and a duty.

Psalm 122:6–9

[6] Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you.
[7] Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces."
[8] For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, "Peace be within you."
[9] Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good.

주님, 오늘 우리의 나라들의 평화를 위해 기도합니다. 자백하고 회개하며 주께로 돌이키오니 주께서 개입해주시기를 간절히 구합니다. 주님의 축복하심과 공급하심을 찬양합니다.

위정자들을 위한 기도는 특권이자 의무이다.

시편 122:6–9

[6] 예루살렘을 위하여 평안을 구하라 예루살렘을 사랑하는 자는 형통하리로다
[7] 네 성 안에는 평안이 있고 네 궁중에는 형통함이 있을지어다
[8] 내가 내 형제와 친구를 위하여 이제 말하리니 네 가운데에 평안이 있을지어다
[9] 여호와 우리 하나님의 집을 위하여 내가 너를 위하여 복을 구하리로다
