Waiting on God		하나님을 기다림
[ 2 Peter 3:8 - 3:15 ] - hymn 179 [The Lord] is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. - 2 Peter 3:9 I was sitting with a group of passengers on an airport shuttle heading to our connecting flight when the bus driver was told to ¡°hold in place.¡± It looked like we would miss our flight, and this was more than one passenger could handle. He exploded at the driver, insisting he ignore his orders or ¡°risk the wrath of a lawsuit.¡± Just then an airline employee came dashing up carrying a briefcase. Looking at the angry man, the airline employee triumphantly held up the briefcase. When he had caught his breath, he said, ¡°You left your briefcase. I heard you mention how important your meeting was, and I figured you would need this.¡± Sometimes I find myself impatient with God, especially about His return. I wonder, What can He be waiting on? The tragedies around us, the suffering of people we love, and even the stresses of daily life all seem bigger than the fixes on the horizon. Then someone tells their story of having just met Jesus, or I discover God is still at work in the messes. It reminds me of what I learned that day on the shuttle. There are stories and details God knows that I don¡¯t. It reminds me to trust Him and to remember that the story isn¡¯t about me. It¡¯s about God¡¯s plan to give time to others who don¡¯t yet know His Son (2 Peter 3:9). — Randy Kilgore		[ 베드로후서 3:8 - 3:15 ] - 찬송가 179 장 [주께서는] 너희를 대하여 오래 참으사 아무도 멸망하지 아니하고 다 회개하기에 이르기를 원하시느니라 - 베드로후서 3:9 비행기를 갈아타기 위해 다른 승객들과 함께 공항순환버스를 타고 가고 있었는데, 운전기사에게 “제 자리에 서시오.”라는 명령이 전해졌습니다. 비행기를 놓칠 수도 있게 되었고, 우리 가운데 한 승객이 더는 참을 수가 없었나 봅니다. 그는 운전기사에게 기다리라는 명령을 무시하라고 하면서 그렇지 않으면 “엄청난 법적 소송을 각오해야 할 것”이라고 고함을 쳤습니다. 바로 그때 항공사 직원이 서류가방 하나를 들고 뛰어 올라왔습니다. 그 항공사 직원은 화가 나 있는 남자를 향해 의기양양하게 가방을 들어 보여주었습니다. 그는 숨을 돌린 후 다음과 같이 말했습니다. “서류가방을 두고 가셨더군요. 손님이 매우 중요한 모임이 있다고 하시는 말씀을 들었기에 이것이 필요하겠다고 생각했습니다.” 나는 가끔 하나님께, 특히 주님의 재림에 대해 조바심을 냅니다. “무엇 때문에 기다리시지?” 하는 의문을 갖습니다. 곧 우리의 문제가 다 해결될 텐데도, 우리 주변에 일어나는 비극들이나 사랑하는 사람들이 겪는 고통, 심지어 일상생활에서 겪는 스트레스까지 모두 다 앞으로의 해결보다는 현재의 상태가 더 크게 느껴집니다. 그럴 때, 누군가가 예수님을 방금 만났다고 이야기하는 것을 듣게 되거나, 하나님이 혼돈 가운데서도 여전히 역사하고 계시는 것을 발견하게 됩니다. 그러면 나는 공항순환버스에서 배웠던 교훈을 떠올립니다. 나는 모르지만 하나님은 알고 계시는 이야기나 자세한 사항들이 있다는 사실입니다. 그것은 내가 하나님을 신뢰하도록, 그리고 그 이야기가 나의 문제가 아님을 기억하도록 상기시켜줍니다. 그것은 그분의 아들 예수 그리스도를 아직 모르는 사람들에게 시간을 주기 위한 하나님의 계획에 관한 것입니다(벧후 3:9).

I¡¯m thankful You are patiently waiting for more people to trust in You before You return. Help me to be patient too.

Wait and witness till Jesus returns.

2 Peter 3:8–15

[8] But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
[9] The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
[10] But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
[11] Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
[12] looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
[13] Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
[14] Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;
[15] and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation--as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you,

주께서 재림하시기 전에 더 많은 사람들이 주님을 믿을 수 있도록 인내하며 기다려주셔서 감사합니다. 저도 인내할 수 있도록 도와주소서.

예수님이 다시 오실 때까지 기다리며 복음을 전하자.

베드로후서 3:8–15

[8] 사랑하는 자들아 주께는 하루가 천 년 같고 천 년이 하루 같다는 이 한 가지를 잊지 말라
[9] 주의 약속은 어떤 이들이 더디다고 생각하는 것 같이 더딘 것이 아니라 오직 주께서는 너희를 대하여 오래 참으사 아무도 멸망하지 아니하고 다 회개하기에 이르기를 원하시느니라
[10] 그러나 주의 날이 도둑 같이 오리니 그 날에는 하늘이 큰 소리로 떠나가고 물질이 뜨거운 불에 풀어지고 땅과 그 중에 있는 모든 일이 드러나리로다
[11] 이 모든 것이 이렇게 풀어지리니 너희가 어떠한 사람이 되어야 마땅하냐 거룩한 행실과 경건함으로
[12] 하나님의 날이 임하기를 바라보고 간절히 사모하라 그 날에 하늘이 불에 타서 풀어지고 물질이 뜨거운 불에 녹아지려니와
[13] 우리는 그의 약속대로 의가 있는 곳인 새 하늘과 새 땅을 바라보도다
[14] 그러므로 사랑하는 자들아 너희가 이것을 바라보나니 주 앞에서 점도 없고 흠도 없이 평강 가운데서 나타나기를 힘쓰라
[15] 또 우리 주의 오래 참으심이 구원이 될 줄로 여기라 우리가 사랑하는 형제 바울도 그 받은 지혜대로 너희에게 이같이 썼고
