[ 1 Corinthians 13 ] - hymn 294 Follow the way of love. - 1 Corinthians 14:1 Love does more than make ¡°the world go round,¡± as an old song says. It also makes us immensely vulnerable. From time to time, we may say to ourselves: ¡°Why love when others do not show appreciation?¡± or ¡°Why love and open myself up to hurt?¡± But the apostle Paul gives a clear and simple reason to pursue love: ¡°These three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Follow the way of love¡±(1 Cor.13:13–14:1). ¡°Love is an activity, the essential activity of God himself,¡± writes Bible commentator C. K. Barrett, ¡°and when men love either Him or their fellow-men, they are doing (however imperfectly) what God does.¡± And God is pleased when we act like Him. To begin following the way of love, think about how you might live out the characteristics listed in 1 Corinthians 13:4–7. For example, how can I show my child the same patience God shows me? How can I show kindness and respect for my parents? What does it mean to look out for the interests of others when I am at work? When something good happens to my friend, do I rejoice with her or am I envious? As we ¡°follow the way of love,¡± we¡¯ll find ourselves often turning to God, the source of love, and to Jesus, the greatest example of love. Only then will we gain a deeper knowledge of what true love is and find the strength to love others like God loves us. — Poh Fang Chia		[ 고린도전서 13 ] - 찬송가 294 장 사랑을 추구하며 - 고린도전서 14:1 어떤 흘러간 노래는 사랑이 “세상을 돌아가게” 한다고 말하지만, 사실 사랑은 그보다 더 많은 일을 합니다. 그리고 우리를 대단히 취약하게 만들기도 합니다. 우리는 때때로 우리 자신에게 이렇게 말할 때가 있습니다. “다른 사람들이 감사하지도 않는데 왜 사랑해야 하지?” “왜 내 마음을 열어 사랑하고 나서 상처를 받아야 해?” 그렇지만 바울사도는 사랑을 추구해야 할 명확하고도 단순한 이유를 제시해줍니다. “그런즉 믿음, 소망, 사랑, 이 세 가지는 항상 있을 것인데 그중에 제일은 사랑이라. 사랑을 추구하며”(고전 13:13-14:1). 성경주석가 바렛은 이렇게 쓰고 있습니다. “사랑은 행위이며, 바로 하나님 자신의 본질적인 행위이다. 사람들이 하나님이나 그들의 동료를 사랑할 때 (비록 불완전하더라도) 그들은 하나님이 하시는 일을 하고 있는 것이다.” 우리가 하나님처럼 행동할 때 하나님이 기뻐하십니다. 사랑의 길을 따라가고자 한다면, 어떻게 고린도전서 13:4-7에 나열된 특성에 따라 살 수 있을지를 생각해보십시오. 예를 들면 이런 것들입니다. 어떻게 하나님이 내게 보여주신 인내를 내 아이에게 똑같이 보여줄 수 있을까? 어떻게 하면 부모님께 친절하고 그들을 존경할 수 있을까? 일터에서 다른 사람의 유익을 구한다는 것이 무슨 의미일까? 친구에게 좋은 일이 생겼을 때 나는 함께 기뻐하는가 아니면 시기하는가? 우리가 “사랑을 추구”할 때, 우리는 사랑의 근원이신 하나님께, 그리고 사랑의 가장 위대한 본보기이신 예수님께로 향하고 있는 우리 자신을 발견하게 될 것입니다. 그럴 때만이 우리는 진실한 사랑이 어떤 것인지 더 깊이 깨닫게 되고, 하나님이 우리를 사랑하시는 것 같이 다른 사람들을 사랑할 수 있는 힘을 얻게 될 것입니다.

God, thank You that You are love and that You love me so much. Help me to love others the way Jesus showed us so that the whole world will know I am Your child.

Love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7

1 Corinthians 13

[1] Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
[2] And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
[3] And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
[4] Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
[5] does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
[6] does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
[7] bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
[8] Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
[9] For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
[10] But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
[11] When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
[12] For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
[13] And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

하나님, 하나님은 사랑이시어서 저를 이토록 사랑해주시니 감사합니다. 예수님이 우리에게 보여주신 대로 다른 이들을 사랑하게 도우셔서 세상이 제가 하나님의 자녀인 것을 알게 하소서.

사랑은 하나님께 속한 것이니 사랑하는 자마다 하나님으로부터 나서 하나님을 알고. 요한1서 4:7

고린도전서 13장

[1] 내가 사람의 방언과 천사의 말을 할지라도 사랑이 없으면 소리 나는 구리와 울리는 꽹과리가 되고
[2] 내가 예언하는 능력이 있어 모든 비밀과 모든 지식을 알고 또 산을 옮길 만한 모든 믿음이 있을지라도 사랑이 없으면 내가 아무 것도 아니요
[3] 내가 내게 있는 모든 것으로 구제하고 또 내 몸을 불사르게 내줄지라도 사랑이 없으면 내게 아무 유익이 없느니라
[4] 사랑은 오래 참고 사랑은 온유하며 시기하지 아니하며 사랑은 자랑하지 아니하며 교만하지 아니하며
[5] 무례히 행하지 아니하며 자기의 유익을 구하지 아니하며 성내지 아니하며 악한 것을 생각하지 아니하며
[6] 불의를 기뻐하지 아니하며 진리와 함께 기뻐하고
[7] 모든 것을 참으며 모든 것을 믿으며 모든 것을 바라며 모든 것을 견디느니라
[8] 사랑은 언제까지나 떨어지지 아니하되 예언도 폐하고 방언도 그치고 지식도 폐하리라
[9] 우리는 부분적으로 알고 부분적으로 예언하니
[10] 온전한 것이 올 때에는 부분적으로 하던 것이 폐하리라
[11] 내가 어렸을 때에는 말하는 것이 어린 아이와 같고 깨닫는 것이 어린 아이와 같고 생각하는 것이 어린 아이와 같다가 장성한 사람이 되어서는 어린 아이의 일을 버렸노라
[12] 우리가 지금은 거울로 보는 것 같이 희미하나 그 때에는 얼굴과 얼굴을 대하여 볼 것이요 지금은 내가 부분적으로 아나 그 때에는 주께서 나를 아신 것 같이 내가 온전히 알리라
[13] 그런즉 믿음, 소망, 사랑, 이 세 가지는 항상 있을 것인데 그 중의 제일은 사랑이라
