Some Assembly Required		조립해야 함
[ Judges 2:7 - 2:19 ] - hymn 435 Whenever the Lord raised up a judge for them, he was with the judge and saved them out of the hands of their enemies. - Judges 2:18 Around our home, the words ¡°some assembly required¡± have been the cause of great frustration (mine) and great humor (my family). When my wife and I first married, I attempted to make simple home repairs—with disastrous results. A repaired shower handle worked perfectly—if the plan was for the water to run between the walls. My fiascoes continued after we had children, when I assured my wife, Cheryl, I ¡°don¡¯t need instructions¡± to put these ¡°simple¡± toys together. Wrong! Gradually, I learned my lesson and began to pay strict attention to the instructions and things went together as they should. Unfortunately, the longer things went well, the more confident I became, and soon I was again ignoring instructions with predictably disastrous results. The ancient Israelites struggled with a similar tendency: they would forget God, ignoring His instructions to avoid following after Baal and the other gods of the region (Judg.2:12). This produced disastrous results, until God, in His mercy, raised up judges to rescue them and bring them back to Himself(v.18). God has reasons for all of the instructions He¡¯s given us to keep our affections on Him. Only by a daily awareness of His loving presence can we resist the temptation to ¡°construct¡± our lives our own way. What great gifts He has given us in His Word and His presence! — Randy Kilgore		[ 사사기 2:7 - 2:19 ] - 찬송가 435 장 여호와께서 그들을 위하여 사사를 세우실 때에는 그 사사와 함께 하셨고…그들을 대적의 손에서 구원하셨으니 - 사사기 2:18 우리 집에서 “조립해야 함”이라는 문구는 커다란 좌절과(나에게) 큰 웃음을(식구들에게) 가져다줍니다. 아내와 결혼한 직후 나는 간단한 집수리를 했는데 그 결과는 참담했습니다. 샤워기 손잡이를 고쳤는데, 물이 벽 사이로 흐르고 말았습니다. 이 같은 낭패는 아이들이 생긴 이후에도 계속 이어져, 이런 ‘간단한’ 장난감을 조립하는데 “설명서는 필요 없어.”라고 아내 세릴에게 장담하곤 했습니다. 아니었지요! 시간이 지나며, 교훈을 얻은 나는 설명서를 유심히 들여다보게 되었고 모든 것이 제대로 되어갔습니다. 그런데 일이 잘 되어갈수록 자신감이 더 많아져 유감스럽게도 난 다시 설명서를 무시하게 되었고, 그에 따른 당연한 낭패를 보게 되었습니다. 고대 이스라엘백성들도 비슷한 성향으로 힘들어했습니다. 그들은 바알과 그 지역의 다른 신들을 따르지 말라는 하나님의 지시를 무시하고 하나님을 잊었습니다(삿 2:12). 그로 인해 비참한 결과를 초래했지만, 자비하신 하나님은 사사들을 세우셔서 그들을 구하시고 주님께로 다시 돌아오게 하셨습니다(2:18). 하나님이 우리에게 주신 모든 가르침에는 우리의 마음을 주님께 두게 하기 위함이라는 이유가 있습니다. 날마다 하나님이 사랑으로 함께 하신다는 것을 깨달을 때에만 우리는 우리 마음대로 우리 삶을 ‘세워보려는’ 유혹을 뿌리칠 수 있습니다. 하나님은 하나님의 말씀과 임재하심으로 우리에게 얼마나 큰 선물을 주셨는지요!

Lord, keep me close to You this day. Remind me of Your presence through Your Word and prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Our greatest privilege is to enjoy God¡¯s presence.

Judges 2:7–19

[7] So the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD which He had done for Israel.
[8] Now Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died when he was one hundred and ten years old.
[9] And they buried him within the border of his inheritance at Timnath Heres, in the mountains of Ephraim, on the north side of Mount Gaash.
[10] When all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the LORD nor the work which He had done for Israel.
[11] Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Baals;
[12] and they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt; and they followed other gods from among the gods of the people who were all around them, and they bowed down to them; and they provoked the LORD to anger.
[13] They forsook the LORD and served Baal and the Ashtoreths.
[14] And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel. So He delivered them into the hands of plunderers who despoiled them; and He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies.
[15] Wherever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for calamity, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn to them. And they were greatly distressed.
[16] Nevertheless, the LORD raised up judges who delivered them out of the hand of those who plundered them.
[17] Yet they would not listen to their judges, but they played the harlot with other gods, and bowed down to them. They turned quickly from the way in which their fathers walked, in obeying the commandments of the LORD; they did not do so.
[18] And when the LORD raised up judges for them, the LORD was with the judge and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the LORD was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who oppressed them and harassed them.
[19] And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they reverted and behaved more corruptly than their fathers, by following other gods, to serve them and bow down to them. They did not cease from their own doings nor from their stubborn way.

주님, 오늘 나를 주님 가까이 지켜주소서. 말씀과 기도, 그리고 성령의 인도하심을 통해 주님의 임재하심을 깨닫게 해주소서.

우리가 가진 최고의 특권은 하나님의 임재를 누리는 것이다.

사사기 2:7–19

[7] 백성이 여호수아가 사는 날 동안과 여호수아 뒤에 생존한 장로들 곧 여호와께서 이스라엘을 위하여 행하신 모든 큰 일을 본 자들이 사는 날 동안에 여호와를 섬겼더라
[8] 여호와의 종 눈의 아들 여호수아가 백십 세에 죽으매
[9] 무리가 그의 기업의 경내 에브라임 산지 가아스 산 북쪽 딤낫 헤레스에 장사하였고
[10] 그 세대의 사람도 다 그 조상들에게로 돌아갔고 그 후에 일어난 다른 세대는 여호와를 알지 못하며 여호와께서 이스라엘을 위하여 행하신 일도 알지 못하였더라
[11] 이스라엘 자손이 여호와의 목전에 악을 행하여 바알들을 섬기며
[12] 애굽 땅에서 그들을 인도하여 내신 그들의 조상들의 하나님 여호와를 버리고 다른 신들 곧 그들의 주위에 있는 백성의 신들을 따라 그들에게 절하여 여호와를 진노하시게 하였으되
[13] 곧 그들이 여호와를 버리고 바알과 아스다롯을 섬겼으므로
[14] 여호와께서 이스라엘에게 진노하사 노략하는 자의 손에 넘겨 주사 그들이 노략을 당하게 하시며 또 주위에 있는 모든 대적의 손에 팔아 넘기시매 그들이 다시는 대적을 당하지 못하였으며
[15] 그들이 어디로 가든지 여호와의 손이 그들에게 재앙을 내리시니 곧 여호와께서 말씀하신 것과 같고 여호와께서 그들에게 맹세하신 것과 같아서 그들의 괴로움이 심하였더라
[16] 여호와께서 사사들을 세우사 노략자의 손에서 그들을 구원하게 하셨으나
[17] 그들이 그 사사들에게도 순종하지 아니하고 오히려 다른 신들을 따라가 음행하며 그들에게 절하고 여호와의 명령을 순종하던 그들의 조상들이 행하던 길에서 속히 치우쳐 떠나서 그와 같이 행하지 아니하였더라
[18] 여호와께서 그들을 위하여 사사들을 세우실 때에는 그 사사와 함께 하셨고 그 사사가 사는 날 동안에는 여호와께서 그들을 대적의 손에서 구원하셨으니 이는 그들이 대적에게 압박과 괴롭게 함을 받아 슬피 부르짖으므로 여호와께서 뜻을 돌이키셨음이거늘
[19] 그 사사가 죽은 후에는 그들이 돌이켜 그들의 조상들보다 더욱 타락하여 다른 신들을 따라 섬기며 그들에게 절하고 그들의 행위와 패역한 길을 그치지 아니하였으므로
