[ Acts 2:1 - 2:12 ] - hymn 213 A crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. - Acts 2:6 Walking in my North London neighborhood, I can hear snatches of conversation in many languages—Polish, Japanese, Hindi, Croatian, and Italian, to name a few. This diversity feels like a taste of heaven, yet I can¡¯t understand what they¡¯re saying. As I step into the Russian café or the Polish market and hear the different accents and sounds, I sometimes reflect on how wonderful it must have been on the day of Pentecost when people of many nations could understand what the disciples were saying. On that day, pilgrims gathered together in Jerusalem to celebrate the festival of the harvest. The Holy Spirit rested on the believers so that when they spoke, the hearers (who had come from all over the known world) could understand them in their own languages (Acts 2:5–6). What a miracle that these strangers from different lands could understand the praises to God in their own tongues! Many were spurred on to find out more about Jesus. We may not speak or understand many languages, but we know that the Holy Spirit equips us to connect with people in other ways. Amazingly, we are God¡¯s hands and feet—and mouth—to further His mission. Today, how might we—with the Spirit¡¯s help—reach out to someone unlike us? — Amy Boucher Pye		[ 사도행전 2:1 - 2:12 ] - 찬송가 213 장 큰 무리가 모여 각각 자기의 방언으로 제자들이 말하는 것을 듣고 소동하여 - 사도행전 2:6 내가 사는 런던 북부 근교를 걷다 보면 폴란드어, 일본어, 힌두어, 크로아티아어, 이탈리아어 등 다양한 언어를 사용하는 대화들을 언뜻 언뜻 귓결에 듣게 됩니다. 이런 다양한 언어는 마치 천국을 맛보는 것과 같은 기분이 들게 하지만, 막상 무슨 말인지는 알아들을 수가 없습니다. 러시아인이 운영하는 커피점이나 폴란드인 시장에 가서 다양한 말투나 소리를 듣고 있으면, 사도들의 말을 여러 나라 사람들이 알아들을 수 있었던 오순절은 얼마나 놀라웠을까 종종 생각하게 됩니다. 바로 그날 순례자들은 추수절기를 축하하기 위해 예루살렘에 모여 있었습니다. 그때 성령이 믿는 자들에게 임하셔서 그들이 말할 때 세계 각국에서 모인 사람들이 모두 그들의 언어로 알아들을 수 있었습니다(행 2:5-6). 타지에서 온 사람들이 그들의 언어로 하나님을 찬양하는 것을 알아듣다니 이 얼마나 대단한 기적입니까! 이로 인해 많은 이들이 예수님에 대해 더욱 알고자 하였습니다. 비록 우리가 여러 언어로 말하거나 알아듣지 못하더라도, 우리는 성령님이 다른 방법으로 우리가 사람들과 소통하게 해주신다는 것을 압니다. 놀랍게도 우리는 하나님의 뜻을 확장시키기 위한 그분의 손과 발이며, 또한 입입니다. 오늘, 성령님의 도우심에 힘입어 우리가 믿지 않는 이들에게 다가가려면 어떤 방법이 있을까요?

Lord, give us eyes to see those around us as You see them. Give us ears to hear their stories; give us hearts to share Your love.

Love is the language everybody understands.

Acts 2:1–12

[1] When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
[2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
[3] Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.
[4] And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
[5] And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.
[6] And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.
[7] Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, "Look, are not all these who speak Galileans?
[8] "And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born?
[9] "Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
[10] "Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,
[11] "Cretans and Arabs--we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God."
[12] So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "Whatever could this mean?"

하나님, 주위에 있는 이들을 주님의 시선으로 바라볼 수 있는 눈을 주옵소서. 그들의 이야기를 들을 수 있는 귀를 주시고, 주님의 사랑을 나눌 수 있는 마음을 주옵소서.

사랑은 모든 사람이 이해할 수 있는 언어이다.

사도행전 2:1–12

[1] 오순절 날이 이미 이르매 그들이 다같이 한 곳에 모였더니
[2] 홀연히 하늘로부터 급하고 강한 바람 같은 소리가 있어 그들이 앉은 온 집에 가득하며
[3] 마치 불의 혀처럼 갈라지는 것들이 그들에게 보여 각 사람 위에 하나씩 임하여 있더니
[4] 그들이 다 성령의 충만함을 받고 성령이 말하게 하심을 따라 다른 언어들로 말하기를 시작하니라
[5] 그 때에 경건한 유대인들이 천하 각국으로부터 와서 예루살렘에 머물러 있더니
[6] 이 소리가 나매 큰 무리가 모여 각각 자기의 방언으로 제자들이 말하는 것을 듣고 소동하여
[7] 다 놀라 신기하게 여겨 이르되 보라 이 말하는 사람들이 다 갈릴리 사람이 아니냐
[8] 우리가 우리 각 사람이 난 곳 방언으로 듣게 되는 것이 어찌 됨이냐
[9] 우리는 바대인과 메대인과 엘람인과 또 메소보다미아, 유대와 갑바도기아, 본도와 아시아,
[10] 브루기아와 밤빌리아, 애굽과 및 구레네에 가까운 리비야 여러 지방에 사는 사람들과 로마로부터 온 나그네 곧 유대인과 유대교에 들어온 사람들과
[11] 그레데인과 아라비아인들이라 우리가 다 우리의 각 언어로 하나님의 큰 일을 말함을 듣는도다 하고
[12] 다 놀라며 당황하여 서로 이르되 이 어찌 된 일이냐 하며
