[ Genesis 12:1 - 12:4 ] - hymn 393 He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. - 1 Corinthians 10:13 Hearing testimonies about how God did something spectacular in someone else¡¯s life can challenge us. While we may rejoice to hear about answers to prayer, we may also wonder why God hasn¡¯t done anything amazing for us lately. It¡¯s easy to think that if God showed up in astonishing ways for us like He did for Abraham, then we would be more inspired to be faithful servants of God. But then we remember that God showed up for Abraham every 12 to 14 years, and most of Abraham¡¯s journey was rather ordinary (see Gen. 12:1–4; 15:1–6; 16:16–17:12). God¡¯s work is usually done behind the scenes in the ordinary things of life. As 1 Corinthians 10 says, ¡°He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out.¡± Every day God is busy shielding us from devastating onslaughts of Satan that would otherwise leave us helplessly defeated. And when temptation hits, He is making exit ramps for us so we can escape. When we put our head on the pillow at night, we should pause to thank God for the amazing things He has done for us that day in the midst of our ordinary lives. So, instead of longing for Him to do something spectacular for you, thank Him! He already has. — Joe Stowell		[ 창세기 12:1 - 12:4 ] - 찬송가 393 장 너희가 감당하지 못할 시험 당함을 허락하지 아니하시고 - 고린도전서 10:13 하나님이 다른 사람의 삶 속에 뭔가 특별한 일을 행하신 간증을 들으면 우리는 도전을 받습니다. 하지만 기도에 응답하신 것을 듣고 기뻐하면서도, 한편으로는 왜 그런 놀라운 일들이 우리에게는 생기지 않을까 의문을 갖기도 합니다. 만일 하나님이 아브라함에게 나타나신 것처럼 우리에게도 놀라운 방법으로 나타나 주신다면, 우리도 더욱 신실한 하나님의 종이 될 것이라고 생각하기 쉽습니다. 하지만 하나님이 아브라함에게 나타나신 것은 12년에서 14년마다였고, 아브라함의 일생 대부분은 그저 평범했다는 것을 알 수 있습니다(창 12:1-4; 15:1-6; 16:16-17:12 참조). 하나님의 역사하심은 대개 일상적인 삶 속에서 보이지 않게 이루어집니다. 오늘의 본문 내용처럼 “여러분이 감당할 수 있는 능력 이상으로 시련을 겪는 것을 하나님은 허락하지 않으십니다. 하나님께서는 시련과 함께 그것을 벗어날 길도 마련해주십니다”(고전 10:13, 새번역). 하나님은 우리를 무참히 패배시키려는 사탄의 맹공격으로부터 매일 우리를 지키느라 바쁘십니다. 그리고 우리가 유혹에 부딪칠 때 하나님은 출구를 만들어 우리가 유혹을 피할 수 있게 해주십니다. 잠자리에 들 때 잠시 멈추어 오늘 일상 속에서 놀라운 일을 행하신 하나님께 감사드리십시오. 하나님이 당신에게 어떤 특별한 일을 해주시기를 바라지 말고, 그냥 하나님께 감사하십시오! 그분은 이미 놀라운 일을 행하셨습니다.

Lord, help me to be constantly aware that Your power and presence are with me even in the ordinary times in my life. Thank You for Your amazing work on my behalf that I know nothing about.

God is always in control behind the scenes, even on ¡°ordinary¡± days.

Genesis 12:1–4; 17:1–2

[1] Now the LORD had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you.
[2] I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.
[3] I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."
[4] So Abram departed as the LORD had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.

[17:1] When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.
[2] "And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly."

주님, 나의 일상 속에서도 주님의 능력과 임재가 함께 한다는 것을 늘 잊지 않게 해주소서. 나를 위해 행하신 내가 모르는 주님의 놀라운 일들을 인하여 감사드립니다.

하나님은 “평범한” 일상 속에서도 언제나 보이지 않게 주관하신다.

창세기 12:1–4; 17:1–2

[1] 여호와께서 아브람에게 이르시되 너는 너의 고향과 친척과 아버지의 집을 떠나 내가 네게 보여 줄 땅으로 가라
[2] 내가 너로 큰 민족을 이루고 네게 복을 주어 네 이름을 창대하게 하리니 너는 복이 될지라
[3] 너를 축복하는 자에게는 내가 복을 내리고 너를 저주하는 자에게는 내가 저주하리니 땅의 모든 족속이 너로 말미암아 복을 얻을 것이라 하신지라
[4] 이에 아브람이 여호와의 말씀을 따라갔고 롯도 그와 함께 갔으며 아브람이 하란을 떠날 때에 칠십오 세였더라

[17:1] 아브람이 구십구 세 때에 여호와께서 아브람에게 나타나서 그에게 이르시되 나는 전능한 하나님이라 너는 내 앞에서 행하여 완전하라
[2] 내가 내 언약을 나와 너 사이에 두어 너를 크게 번성하게 하리라 하시니
