You Have Purpose		당신이 태어난 목적
[ 1 Peter 4:7 - 4:11 ] - hymn 450 If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. - 1 Peter 4:11 On a hot day in western Texas, my niece Vania saw a woman standing by a stoplight and holding up a sign. As she drove closer, she tried to read what the sign said, assuming it was a request for food or money. Instead, she was surprised to see these three words: ¡°You Have Purpose¡± God has created each of us for a specific purpose. Primarily that purpose is to bring honor to Him, and one way we do that is by meeting the needs of others (1 Peter 4:10–11). A mother of young children may find purpose in wiping runny noses and telling her kids about Jesus. An employee in an unsatisfying job might find his purpose in doing his work conscientiously, remembering it is the Lord he is serving (Col.3:23–24). A woman who has lost her sight still finds purpose in praying for her children and grandchildren and influencing them to trust God. Psalm 139 says that before we were born ¡°all the days ordained for [us] were written in [His] book" (v.16). We are ¡°fearfully and wonderfully made¡± to bring glory to our Creator (v.14). Never forget: You have purpose! — Cindy Hess Kasper		[ 베드로전서 4:7 - 4:11 ] - 찬송가 450 장 누가 봉사하려면 하나님의 공급하시는 힘으로 하는 것 같이 하라 이는 범사에 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님이 영광을 받으시게 하려 함이니 - 베드로전서 4:11 텍사스 서부의 어느 더운 날, 우리 조카딸 바니아가 어떤 여자가 교통신호등 옆에 팻말을 들고 서 있는 것을 보았습니다. 차를 점점 가까이 몰아가며, 조카딸은 아마도 음식이나 돈을 구걸하는 내용이겠거니 짐작하면서 그 팻말에 무엇이 쓰여 있는지 읽어보았습니다. 그러나 거기에는 구걸하는 말 대신에 놀랍게도 다음과 같은 말이 쓰여 있었습니다. “당신의 삶에는 목적이 있습니다.” 하나님은 우리 한 사람 한 사람을 특별한 목적을 가지고 창조하셨습니다. 그 근본적인 목적은 하나님께 영광을 돌리는 것인데, 그러기 위한 한 가지 방법은 우리가 다른 사람의 필요를 충족시켜주는 것입니다(벧전 4:10-11). 어린 자녀들을 둔 어머니는 아이들의 콧물을 닦아주고 아이들에게 예수님에 대해 말해주는 데서 그 목적을 찾을 수 있습니다. 마음에 들지 않는 직장에서 일하는 종업원은 자기가 섬기는 분이 하나님이라는 사실을 기억하며 자신이 맡은 일을 성실하게 해내는 것에서 그 목적을 찾을 수도 있습니다(골 3:23-24). 시력을 잃은 여인이라 해도 자녀들과 손자손녀들을 위해 기도함으로써 그들이 하나님을 온전히 믿도록 영향을 끼치는 데에서 그 목적을 찾을 수도 있을 것입니다. 시편 139편은 우리가 태어나기도 전에 “주의 책에 다 기록이 되었다”(16절)고 말합니다. 우리 모두는 하나님께 영광을 돌리기 위해 “심히 기묘하게 지어진” 존재들입니다(14절). 절대 잊지 마십시오. 당신의 삶에는 목적이 있습니다!

Lord, it often seems that our lives swing from drudgery to challenges we don¡¯t want. Today help us to see You in the midst of whatever faces us. Show us a small glimpse of the purpose and meaning You bring to everything.

Even when everything seems meaningless, God still has a purpose for your life.

1 Peter 4:7–11

[7] But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.
[8] And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins."
[9] Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.
[10] As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
[11] If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

주님, 때로 우리의 삶이 원치 않는 고난과 도전으로 흔들릴 때가 있습니다. 오늘 우리가 직면한 것이 어떤 것이든, 그 와중에도 하나님을 바라볼 수 있게 도와주소서. 주님이 모든 것에 부여하신 목적과 의미를 어렴풋이나마 우리에게 보여주소서.

모든 것이 의미 없어 보일 때라도, 하나님은 우리의 삶을 향한 목적을 여전히 가지고 계신다.

베드로전서 4:7–11

[7] 만물의 마지막이 가까이 왔으니 그러므로 너희는 정신을 차리고 근신하여 기도하라
[8] 무엇보다도 뜨겁게 서로 사랑할지니 사랑은 허다한 죄를 덮느니라
[9] 서로 대접하기를 원망 없이 하고
[10] 각각 은사를 받은 대로 하나님의 여러 가지 은혜를 맡은 선한 청지기 같이 서로 봉사하라
[11] 만일 누가 말하려면 하나님의 말씀을 하는 것 같이 하고 누가 봉사하려면 하나님이 공급하시는 힘으로 하는 것 같이 하라 이는 범사에 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님이 영광을 받으시게 하려 함이니 그에게 영광과 권능이 세세에 무궁하도록 있느니라 아멘
