When the Woods Wake Up		초목이 소생할 때
[ John 11:14 - 11:27 ] - hymn 161 I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die. - John 11:25 Through cold, snowy winters, the hope of spring sustains those of us who live in Michigan. May is the month when that hope is rewarded. The transformation is remarkable. Limbs that look lifeless on May 1 turn into branches that wave green leafy greetings by month¡¯s end. Although the change each day is imperceptible, by the end of the month the woods in my yard have changed from gray to green. God has built into creation a cycle of rest and renewal. What looks like death to us is rest to God. And just as rest is preparation for renewal, death is preparation for resurrection. I love watching the woods awaken every spring, for it reminds me that death is a temporary condition and that its purpose is to prepare for new life, a new beginning, for something even better. ¡°Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds¡±(John 12:24). While pollen is a springtime nuisance when it coats my furniture and makes people sneeze, it reminds me that God is in the business of keeping things alive. And after the pain of death, He promises a glorious resurrection for those who believe in His Son.		[ 요한복음 11:14 - 11:27 ] - 찬송가 161 장 나는 부활이요 생명이니 나를 믿는 자는 죽어도 살겠고 - 요한복음 11:25 미시간에 사는 우리는 봄의 희망을 품고 춥고 눈 덮인 겨울을 견딥니다. 5월은 그 소망이 가져다주는 보상의 달입니다. 그 변화되는 모습은 장관입니다. 5월 1일에는 생명이 없어 보이던 나뭇가지들이 그달 말 쯤 되면 파란 잎들을 흔들며 인사를 합니다. 비록 변화가 매일 눈에 보이는 것은 아니지만, 월말 쯤 되면 우리 집 정원의 나무들은 회색에서 초록색으로 변해있습니다. 하나님은 쉼과 소생의 순환을 창조해놓으셨습니다. 우리에게 죽은 것 같이 보이는 것들이 하나님에게는 쉬고 있는 것입니다. 그리고 쉬는 것이 소생을 위한 준비이듯이 죽음은 부활의 준비입니다. 나는 매년 봄이면 나무들이 깨어나는 것을 보는 것을 좋아합니다. 그것은 죽음이란 임시 상황이고 그것의 목적은 더 좋은 것을 위해 새 생명과 새로운 시작을 준비하는 것이란 점을 내게 일깨워주기 때문입니다. “한 알의 밀이 땅에 떨어져 죽지 아니하면 한 알 그대로 있고 죽으면 많은 열매를 맺느니라”(요 12:24). 꽃가루는 우리 집 가구를 덮고 사람들이 재채기를 하게 하는 봄날의 골칫거리이긴 하지만, 그것은 하나님께서 모든 것이 살아 움직이도록 일하신다는 것을 상기시켜줍니다. 그리고 죽음의 고통 후에 하나님은 그분의 아들을 믿는 자들에게 영광의 부활을 약속해주십니다.

John 11:14-27

[14] Then Jesus said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead.
[15] "And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him."
[16] Then Thomas, who is called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us also go, that we may die with Him."
[17] So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.
[18] Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away.
[19] And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
[20] Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house.
[21] Then Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
[22] "But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You."
[23] Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."
[24] Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day."
[25] Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
[26] "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"
[27] She said to Him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world."

우리에게 부활의 소망이 있다는 것을 상기시키며 격려해주는 고린도전서 15장 35절에서 58절을 읽으십시오.

봄의 모든 나뭇잎들은 우리에게 주신 부활의 약속을 상기시켜준다.

[14] 이에 예수께서 밝히 이르시되 나사로가 죽었느니라
[15] 내가 거기 있지 아니한 것을 너희를 위하여 기뻐하노니 이는 너희로 믿게 하려 함이라 그러나 그에게로 가자 하시니
[16] 디두모라고도 하는 도마가 다른 제자들에게 말하되 우리도 주와 함께 죽으러 가자 하니라
[17] 예수께서 와서 보시니 나사로가 무덤에 있은 지 이미 나흘이라
[18] 베다니는 예루살렘에서 가깝기가 한 오 리쯤 되매
[19] 많은 유대인이 마르다와 마리아에게 그 오라비의 일로 위문하러 왔더니
[20] 마르다는 예수께서 오신다는 말을 듣고 곧 나가 맞이하되 마리아는 집에 앉았더라
[21] 마르다가 예수께 여짜오되 주께서 여기 계셨더라면 내 오라버니가 죽지 아니하였겠나이다
[22] 그러나 나는 이제라도 주께서 무엇이든지 하나님께 구하시는 것을 하나님이 주실 줄을 아나이다
[23] 예수께서 이르시되 네 오라비가 다시 살아나리라
[24] 마르다가 이르되 마지막 날 부활 때에는 다시 살아날 줄을 내가 아나이다
[25] 예수께서 이르시되 나는 부활이요 생명이니 나를 믿는 자는 죽어도 살겠고
[26] 무릇 살아서 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 죽지 아니하리니 이것을 네가 믿느냐
[27] 이르되 주여 그러하외다 주는 그리스도시요 세상에 오시는 하나님의 아들이신 줄 내가 믿나이다
