[ Philippians 3:12 - 3:16 ] - hymn 359 One thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. - Philippians 3:13 I like Reepicheep, C. S. Lewis¡¯ tough little talking mouse in the Chronicles of Narnia series. Determined to reach the ¡°utter East¡± and join the great lion Aslan [symbolic of Christ], Reepicheep declares his resolve: ¡°While I may, I sail East in Dawn Treader. When she fails me, I row East in my coracle [small boat]. When that sinks, I shall paddle East with my four paws. Then, when I can swim no longer, if I have not yet reached Aslan¡¯s Country, there shall I sink with my nose to the sunrise.¡± Paul put it another way: ¡°I press on toward the goal"(Phil.3:14). His goal was to be like Jesus. Nothing else mattered. He admitted that he had much ground to cover but he would not give up until he attained that to which Jesus had called him. None of us are what we should be, but we can, like the apostle, press and pray toward that goal. Like Paul we will always say, ¡°I have not yet arrived." Nevertheless, despite weakness, failure, and weariness we must press on (v.12). But everything depends on God. Without Him we can do nothing! God is with you, calling you onward. Keep paddling!		[ 빌립보서 3:12 - 3:16 ] - 찬송가 359 장 오직 한 일 즉 뒤에 있는 것은 잊어버리고 앞에 있는 것을 잡으려고 - 빌립보서 3:13 나는 C.S.루이스가 쓴 나니아 연대기 시리즈에 나오는 작고 강인한 말하는 쥐 리피치프를 좋아합니다. “완전한 동쪽”에 도착하여 위대한 사자 아슬란(그리스도의 상징)을 만나기로 작정한 후, 리피치프는 그의 결심을 다음과 같이 선언합니다. “나는 ‘새벽출정호’를 타고 동쪽으로 항해할 거야. 그 배가 나를 데려다주지 못하면, 나는 코러클(작은 배)을 타고 동쪽으로 노를 저어갈 거야. 그 배가 가라앉으면, 나는 나의 네 발을 가지고 동쪽으로 헤엄쳐갈 거야. 그리고 내가 더 이상 헤엄칠 수 없게 되었는데 아직도 아슬란의 나라에 도착하지 못했다면, 거기서 내가 가라앉아도 나의 코는 해 뜨는 곳을 향하고 있을 거야.” 바울은 이런 내용을 다른 식으로 표현했습니다. “푯대를 향하여…달려가노라”(빌 3:14). 그의 목표는 예수님과 같이 되는 것이었습니다. 이보다 더 중요한 것은 없었습니다. 그는 갈 길이 아직 멀다는 것을 인정했지만, 예수님이 그를 부르신 소명을 이루기까지는 결코 포기하지 않기로 했습니다. 우리 중 누구도 우리가 마땅히 되어야할 모습이 된 사람은 없지만, 우리는 바울 사도와 같이 목표를 향하여 좇아가며 기도할 수 있습니다. 우리도 바울과 같이 “아직 도착하지 않았다”라고 항상 말하게 될 것입니다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 연약하고 실패하고 피곤해도 우리는 좇아가야만 합니다(12절). 그러나 모든 것은 하나님께 달려있습니다. 하나님 없이는 우리는 아무것도 할 수 없습니다! 하나님은 당신과 함께 하시며, 당신더러 앞으로 나아가라고 하십니다. 계속 헤엄치며 나아가십시오!

Lord, help us learn that we do not press on toward our goal by our own effort but through prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Apart from You, we can do nothing. Work in us today, we pray.

God provides the power we need to persevere.

Philippians 3:12-16

[12] Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
[13] Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
[14] I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
[15] Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.
[16] Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.

주님, 우리의 노력이 아니라 오직 기도와 성령님의 인도하심을 통해 푯대를 향해 좇아가는 것을 배우도록 도와주소서. 하나님을 떠나서는 우리는 아무것도 할 수 없습니다. 기도하오니, 오늘 우리 안에 역사해주소서.

하나님은 우리가 인내하도록 힘을 공급해주신다.

빌립보서 3:12-16

[12] 내가 이미 얻었다 함도 아니요 온전히 이루었다 함도 아니라 오직 내가 그리스도 예수께 잡힌 바 된 그것을 잡으려고 달려가노라
[13] 형제들아 나는 아직 내가 잡은 줄로 여기지 아니하고 오직 한 일 즉 뒤에 있는 것은 잊어버리고 앞에 있는 것을 잡으려고
[14] 푯대를 향하여 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님이 위에서 부르신 부름의 상을 위하여 달려가노라
[15] 그러므로 누구든지 우리 온전히 이룬 자들은 이렇게 생각할지니 만일 어떤 일에 너희가 달리 생각하면 하나님이 이것도 너희에게 나타내시리라
[16] 오직 우리가 어디까지 이르렀든지 그대로 행할 것이라
