Resting and Waiting		쉬며 기다림
[ John 4:4 - 4:14 ] - hymn 379 ¡°My food,¡± said Jesus, ¡°is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.¡±- John 4:34 It was high noon. Jesus, foot-weary from His long journey, was resting beside Jacob¡¯s well. His disciples had gone into the city of Sychar to buy bread. A woman came out of the city to draw water ... and found her Messiah. The account tells us that she quickly went into the city and invited others to come hear ¡°a man who told me everything I ever did¡±(John 4:29). The disciples came back bringing bread. When they urged Jesus to eat, He said to them, ¡°My food ... is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work¡±(v.34). Now I ask you: What work had Jesus been doing? He¡¯d been resting and waiting by the well. I find great encouragement in this story for I am living with physical limitations. This passage tells me that I do not have to scurry about—worrying myself about doing the will of my Father and getting His work done. In this season of life, I can rest and wait for Him to bring His work to me. Similarly, your tiny apartment, your work cubicle, your prison cell, or your hospital bed can become a ¡°Jacob¡¯s well,¡± a place to rest and to wait for your Father to bring His work to you. I wonder who He¡¯ll bring to you today?		[ 요한복음 4:4 - 4:14 ] - 찬송가 379 장 예수님께서 이르시되 나의 양식은 나를 보내신 이의 뜻을 행하며 그의 일을 온전히 이루는 이것이니라 - 요한복음 4:34 때는 정오였습니다. 오랜 여행으로 지친 예수님이 야곱의 우물가에서 쉬고 계셨습니다. 제자들은 먹을 것을 사러 수가라는 동네로 가고 없었습니다. 그 동네에서 한 여인이 물을 길러 나왔다가 … 메시아를 발견했습니다. 이이야기는 그녀가 마을로 서둘러 가서 사람들에게 “내가 행한 모든 일을 내게 말한 사람”(요 4:29)을 와서 들어보라고 했다고 우리에게 전해줍니다. 제자들이 먹을 것을 가지고 돌아와서 예수님께 잡수시기를 권했을 때, 주님은 “나의 양식은 나를 보내신 이의 뜻을 행하며 그의 일을 온전히 이루는 이것이니라”(34절)라고 말씀하셨습니다. 이제 당신에게 묻습니다. 예수님은 무슨 일을 하고 계셨습니까? 주님은 우물가에서 쉬며 기다리고 계셨습니다. 나는 육신의 제한을 갖고 살고 있기 때문에 이 이야기는 나에게 큰 격려가 됩니다. 이 구절은 나에게 하나님 아버지의 뜻을 행하고 그분의 일을 이루는데 있어 걱정하거나 허둥대며 서두를 필요가 없다는 것을 말해줍니다. 현재의 삶 속에서 나는 하나님이 나의 할 일을 가져다주실 때까지 쉬며 기다릴 수 있습니다. 마찬가지로, 우리가 사는 작은 아파트나 일터, 감옥이나 병상도 우리 하나님 아버지께서 그분의 일을 우리에게 가져오실 때까지 쉬면서 기다리는 장소인 “야곱의 우물”이 될 수 있습니다. 나는 오늘 하나님이 당신에게 누구를 데려오실지 궁금합니다.

Lord, our circumstances can often threaten to overwhelm us. Today, help us to see You in all of life. We are learning to trust You as You do Your work.

John 4:4-14

[4] But He needed to go through Samaria.
[5] So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
[6] Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
[7] A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, 'Give Me a drink."
[8] For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
[9] Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, "How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
[10] Jesus answered and said to her, 'If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water."
[11] The woman said to Him, "Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water?
[12] "Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?"
[13] Jesus answered and said to her, 'Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,
[14] 'but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."

주님, 우리의 상황들이 종종 우리를 위협하여 압도합니다. 지금 모든 곳에서 주님을 볼 수 있도록 우리를 도와주소서. 주께서 주의 일을 하실 때 우리는 주님을 신뢰하는 것을 배우게 됩니다.

[7] 사마리아 여자 한 사람이 물을 길으러 왔으매 예수께서 물을 좀 달라 하시니
[8] 이는 제자들이 먹을 것을 사러 그 동네에 들어갔음이러라
[9] 사마리아 여자가 이르되 당신은 유대인으로서 어찌하여 사마리아 여자인 나에게 물을 달라 하나이까 하니 이는 유대인이 사마리아인과 상종하지 아니함이러라
[10] 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 네가 만일 하나님의 선물과 또 네게 물 좀 달라 하는 이가 누구인 줄 알았더라면 네가 그에게 구하였을 것이요 그가 생수를 네게 주었으리라
[11] 여자가 이르되 주여 물 길을 그릇도 없고 이 우물은 깊은데 어디서 당신이 그 생수를 얻겠사옵나이까
[12] 우리 조상 야곱이 이 우물을 우리에게 주셨고 또 여기서 자기와 자기 아들들과 짐승이 다 마셨는데 당신이 야곱보다 더 크니이까
[13] 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 이 물을 마시는 자마다 다시 목마르려니와
[14] 내가 주는 물을 마시는 자는 영원히 목마르지 아니하리니 내가 주는 물은 그 속에서 영생하도록 솟아나는 샘물이 되리라
