Keep Climbing!		계속 올라가라!
[ 1 Thessalonians 4:1 - 4:12 ] - hymn 90 Encourage one another daily. - Hebrews 3:13 Richard needed a push, and he got one. He was rock climbing with his friend Kevin who was the belayer (the one who secures the rope). Exhausted and ready to quit, Richard asked Kevin to lower him to the ground. But Kevin urged him on, saying he had come too far to quit. Dangling in midair, Richard decided to keep trying. Amazingly, he was able to reconnect with the rock and complete the climb because of his friend¡¯s encouragement. In the early church, followers of Jesus encouraged one another to continue to follow their Lord and to show compassion. In a culture riddled with immorality, they passionately appealed to one another to live pure lives (Rom.12:1; 1 Thess.4:1). Believers encouraged one another daily, as God prompted them to do so (Acts 13:15). They urged each other to intercede for the body (Rom.15:30), to help people stay connected to the church (Heb.10:25), and to love more and more (1 Thess. 4:10). Through His death and resurrection, Jesus has connected us to one another. Therefore, we have the responsibility and privilege with God¡¯s enablement to encourage fellow believers to finish the climb of trusting and obeying Him. When was the last time you needed to urge someone to keep following Jesus? Who has encouraged you or stirred you to pursue holiness, to keep praying, or to enlarge your love for Jesus and others?

Encourage one another and build each other up. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

1 Thessalonians 4:1-12

[1] Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God;
[2] for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
[3] For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality;
[4] that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
[5] not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God;
[6] that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.
[7] For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.
[8] Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.
[9] But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;
[10] and indeed you do so toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more;
[11] that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,
[12] that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.

누군가에게 예수님을 계속 따르라고 마지막으로 독려한 때가 언제입니까? 누가 당신에게 거룩함을 추구하고, 계속 기도하고, 예수님과 다른 사람을 더 사랑하라고 도전하거나 권면하였습니까?

데살로니가전서 4:1-12

[1] 그러므로 형제들아 우리가 끝으로 주 예수 안에서 너희에게 구하고 권면하노니 너희가 마땅히 어떻게 행하며 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 있는지를 우리에게 배웠으니 곧 너희가 행하는 바라 더욱 많이 힘쓰라
[2] 우리가 주 예수로 말미암아 너희에게 무슨 명령으로 준 것을 너희가 아느니라
[3] 하나님의 뜻은 이것이니 너희의 거룩함이라 곧 음란을 버리고
[4] 각각 거룩함과 존귀함으로 자기의 아내 대할 줄을 알고
[5] 하나님을 모르는 이방인과 같이 색욕을 따르지 말고
[6] 이 일에 분수를 넘어서 형제를 해하지 말라 이는 우리가 너희에게 미리 말하고 증언한 것과 같이 이 모든 일에 주께서 신원하여 주심이라
[7] 하나님이 우리를 부르심은 부정하게 하심이 아니요 거룩하게 하심이니
[8] 그러므로 저버리는 자는 사람을 저버림이 아니요 너희에게 그의 성령을 주신 하나님을 저버림이니라
[9] 형제 사랑에 관하여는 너희에게 쓸 것이 없음은 너희들 자신이 하나님의 가르치심을 받아 서로 사랑함이라
[10] 너희가 온 마게도냐 모든 형제에 대하여 과연 이것을 행하도다 형제들아 권하노니 더욱 그렇게 행하고
[11] 또 너희에게 명한 것 같이 조용히 자기 일을 하고 너희 손으로 일하기를 힘쓰라
[12] 이는 외인에 대하여 단정히 행하고 또한 아무 궁핍함이 없게 하려 함이라
