The Promised Spirit		약속하신 성령
[ 2 Kings 2:5 - 2:12 ] - hymn 183 ¡°Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,¡± Elisha replied. - 2 Kings 2:9 Tenacity and audacity—Elisha had heaps of both. Having spent time with Elijah, he witnessed the Lord working through the prophet by performing miracles and by speaking truth in an age of lies. Second Kings 2:1 tells us that Elijah is about to be taken ¡°up to heaven,¡± and Elisha doesn¡¯t want him to leave. The time came for the dreaded separation, and Elisha knew he needed what Elijah had if he was going to successfully continue the ministry. So he made a daring demand: ¡°Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit¡±(2 Kings 2:9). His bold request was a reference to the double portion given the firstborn son or heir under the law (Deut.21:17). Elisha wanted to be recognized as the heir of Elijah. And God said yes. Recently one of my mentors—a woman who spread the good news of Jesus—died. Having battled ill health for years, she was ready to enjoy her eternal feast with the Lord. Those of us who loved her were grateful at the thought of her newfound freedom from pain and that she could enjoy God¡¯s presence, but we grieved the loss of her love and example. Despite her departure, she did not leave us alone. We too had God¡¯s presence. Elisha gained a double portion of Elijah¡¯s spirit—a tremendous privilege and blessing. We who live after the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus have the promised Holy Spirit. The triune God makes His home with us! - Amy Boucher Pye		[ 열왕기하 2:5 - 2:12 ] - 찬송가 183 장 엘리사가 이르되 당신의 성령이 하시는 역사가 갑절이나 내게 있게 하소서 - 열왕기하 2:9 끈기와 용맹, 엘리사는 이 두 가지를 모두 갖추고 있었습니다. 엘리사는 엘리야와 함께 지내면서, 하나님께서 엘리야를 통해 기적을 행하거나 거짓의 시대에 진실을 선포함으로써 그를 통해 일하시는 것을 목격했습니다. 열왕기하 2장 1절은 하나님이 엘리야를 ‘하늘로 올리시려’ 한다는 것을 말해주는데, 엘리사는 그가 떠나는 것을 바라지 않습니다. 드디어 염려하던 이별의 시간이 다가오자, 엘리사는 맡은 사역을 성공적으로 이끌려면 엘리야가 갖고 있는 능력이 필요하다는 것을 깨달았습니다. 그래서 “당신의 성령이 하시는 역사가 갑절이나 내게 있게 하소서”(왕하 2:9)라고 대담하게 요청했습니다. 그의 대담한 요청은 장자나 후계자는 두 몫을 받을 수 있다는 율법에 근거한 것이었습니다(신 21:17). 엘리사는 엘리야의 후계자로 인정받고 싶었고, 이에 하나님은 흔쾌히 허락하셨습니다. 최근에 내 스승들 중 한 분이었으며 예수님의 복음을 널리 전했던 여성이 돌아가셨습니다. 건강이 나빠져 오랫동안 투병생활을 했던 그녀는 하나님 곁에서 영원한 향연을 누릴 준비가 되어있었습니다. 그녀를 사랑한 우리들은 그녀가 고통에서 벗어나 새로운 자유를 찾았고, 하나님의 임재를 즐길 수 있을 것이라는 생각에 감사하면서도, 우리의 모범이었으며 우리에게 베풀어준 그녀의 사랑을 잃게 된 것이 슬펐습니다. 비록 그녀는 떠났지만, 그녀는 우리를 외롭게 남겨두지 않았습니다. 하나님은 우리와도 함께 하셨습니다. 엘리사는 대단한 특권이자 축복인 엘리야의 영감을 갑절이나 받았습니다. 예수님의 삶과 죽음, 그리고 부활을 좇아 사는 우리에게는 약속하신 성령님이 계십니다. 삼위일체이신 하나님께서 우리 안에 내주하십니다!

Dear Lord, we want to be more like You. Help us to be witnesses of Your Spirit within us.

When Jesus ascended to His Father, He sent His Spirit.

2 Kings 2:5-12

[5] Now the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came to Elisha and said to him, "Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from over you today?" So he answered, "Yes, I know; keep silent!"
[6] Then Elijah said to him, "Stay here, please, for the LORD has sent me on to the Jordan." But he said, "As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!" So the two of them went on.
[7] And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went and stood facing them at a distance, while the two of them stood by the Jordan.
[8] Now Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the water; and it was divided this way and that, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground.
[9] And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, "Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?" Elisha said, "Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me."
[10] So he said, "You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so."
[11] Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
[12] And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, "My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!" So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces.

사랑하는 주님, 주님을 더욱더 닮고 싶습니다.
우리 안에 계신 성령의 증인이 되게 도와주소서.

예수님이 하나님 아버지께로 올라가셨을 때 우리에게 성령을 보내주셨다.

열왕기하 2:5-12

[5] 여리고에 있는 선지자의 제자들이 엘리사에게 나아와 이르되 여호와께서 오늘 당신의 선생을 당신의 머리 위로 데려가실 줄을 아시나이까 하니 엘리사가 이르되 나도 아노니 너희는 잠잠하라
[6] 엘리야가 또 엘리사에게 이르되 청하건대 너는 여기 머물라 여호와께서 나를 요단으로 보내시느니라 하니 그가 이르되 여호와께서 살아 계심과 당신의 영혼이 살아 있음을 두고 맹세하노니 내가 당신을 떠나지 아니하겠나이다 하는지라 이에 두 사람이 가니라
[7] 선지자의 제자 오십 명이 가서 멀리 서서 바라보매 그 두 사람이 요단 가에 서 있더니
[8] 엘리야가 겉옷을 가지고 말아 물을 치매 물이 이리 저리 갈라지고 두 사람이 마른 땅 위로 건너더라
[9] 건너매 엘리야가 엘리사에게 이르되 나를 네게서 데려감을 당하기 전에 내가 네게 어떻게 할지를 구하라 엘리사가 이르되 당신의 성령이 하시는 역사가 갑절이나 내게 있게 하소서 하는지라
[10] 이르되 네가 어려운 일을 구하는도다 그러나 나를 네게서 데려가시는 것을 네가 보면 그 일이 네게 이루어지려니와 그렇지 아니하면 이루어지지 아니하리라 하고
[11] 두 사람이 길을 가며 말하더니 불수레와 불말들이 두 사람을 갈라놓고 엘리야가 회오리 바람으로 하늘로 올라가더라
[12] 엘리사가 보고 소리 지르되 내 아버지여 내 아버지여 이스라엘의 병거와 그 마병이여 하더니 다시 보이지 아니하는지라 이에 엘리사가 자기의 옷을 잡아 둘로 찢고
