Out of the Ruins		폐허를 딛고
[ Lamentations 5:8 - 5:22 ] - hymn 337 He has granted us new life to rebuild the house of our God and repair its ruins. - Ezra 9:9 In the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem you¡¯ll find Tiferet Yisrael Synagogue. Built in the 19th century, the synagogue was dynamited by commandos during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. For years the site lay in ruins. Then, in 2014, rebuilding began. As city officials set a piece of rubble as the cornerstone, one of them quoted from Lamentations: ¡°Restore us to yourself, Lord, that we may return; renew our days as of old¡±(5:21). Lamentations is Jeremiah¡¯s funeral song for Jerusalem. With graphic imagery the prophet describes the impact of war on his city. Verse 21 is his heartfelt prayer for God to intervene. Still, the prophet wonders if that is even possible. He concludes his anguished song with this fearful caveat: ¡°unless you have utterly rejected us and are angry with us beyond measure¡±(v.22). Decades later, God did answer that prayer as the exiles returned to Jerusalem. Our lives too may seem to be in ruins. Troubles of our own making and conflicts we can¡¯t avoid may leave us devastated. But we have a Father who understands. Gently, patiently, He clears away the rubble, repurposes it, and builds something better. It takes time, but we can always trust Him. He specializes in rebuilding projects.		[ 예레미야 애가 5:8 - 5:22 ] - 찬송가 337 장 우리가…소생하여 우리 하나님의 성전을 세우게 하시며 그 무너진 것을 수리하게 하시며 - 에스라 9:9 예루살렘의 유대인 구역에 티페레 회당이 있습니다. 19세기에 세워진 그 회당은 1948년 아랍-이스라엘 전쟁 중 특공대에 의해 폭파되었습니다. 오랫동안 그 자리는 폐허로 남아 있다가 2014년에 재건이 시작되었습니다. 시청 관리들이 무너진 돌 중 하나를 모퉁이 돌로 세우자, 그들 중 한 명이 예레미야애가의 한 구절을 읽었습니다. “여호와여 우리를 주께로 돌이키소서 그리하시면 우리가 주께로 돌아가겠사오니 우리의 날들을 다시 새롭게 하사 옛적 같게 하옵소서”(5:21). 예레미야애가는 예루살렘을 위한 예레미야의 장송곡입니다. 그 선지자는 전쟁이 가져다 줄 도시의 모습을 그림을 그리듯 아주 세밀하게 묘사합니다. 21절은 하나님께서 막아주시기를 바라는 그의 간절한 기도입니다. 그럼에도 선지자는 과연 그것이 가능이나 할는지 의문을 갖습니다. 그는 애통하는 마음으로 다음과 같은 두려운 경고로 그의 애가를 끝냅니다. “주께서 우리를 아주 버리셨사오며 우리에게 진노하심이 참으로 크시니이다” (22절). 수십 년 후 하나님은 포로들이 예루살렘으로 돌아오게 하심으로써 그 기도를 응답해주셨습니다. 우리의 삶도 폐허 같을 때가 있습니다. 우리 때문에 생긴 고난이나 우리가 피할 수 없는 다툼들이 우리를 황폐하게 만들 수도 있습니다. 그러나 우리를 이해하시는 하나님 아버지가 계십니다. 하나님은 온화한 마음으로 천천히 무너진 조각들을 치우시고, 다시 쓸 수 있는 좀 더 나은 것으로 다시 세우십니다. 시간은 좀 걸리겠지만, 하나님을 늘 신뢰해야 합니다. 하나님은 재건축의 전문가이십니다.

Lord, You have reclaimed us, and You are remaking us. Thank You for Your love and Your care despite our self-centered and destructive ways.
Thank You for true forgiveness and unity in You.

God will one day restore all the beauty lost before.

Lamentations 5:8-22

[8] Servants rule over us; There is none to deliver us from their hand.
[9] We get our bread at the risk of our lives, Because of the sword in the wilderness.
[10] Our skin is hot as an oven, Because of the fever of famine.
[11] They ravished the women in Zion, The maidens in the cities of Judah.
[12] Princes were hung up by their hands, And elders were not respected.
[13] Young men ground at the millstones; Boys staggered under loads of wood.
[14] The elders have ceased gathering at the gate, And the young men from their music.
[15] The joy of our heart has ceased; Our dance has turned into mourning.
[16] The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned!
[17] Because of this our heart is faint; Because of these things our eyes grow dim;
[18] Because of Mount Zion which is desolate, With foxes walking about on it.
[19] You, O LORD, remain forever; Your throne from generation to generation.
[20] Why do You forget us forever, And forsake us for so long a time?
[21] Turn us back to You, O LORD, and we will be restored; Renew our days as of old,
[22] Unless You have utterly rejected us, And are very angry with us!

주님, 주님은 저희를 다시 찾으시고 새롭게 만드십니다. 우리의 이기심과 다투는 모습에도 불구하고 주님의 사랑과 돌보아주심에 감사드립니다. 참 용서를 주시고 주님 안에서 하나 되게 하시니 감사합니다.

하나님은 이전에 잃었던 모든 아름다움들을 언젠가 다시 회복시키실 것이다.

[8] 종들이 우리를 지배함이여 그들의 손에서 건져낼 자가 없나이다
[9] 광야에는 칼이 있으므로 죽기를 무릅써야 양식을 얻사오니
[10] 굶주림의 열기로 말미암아 우리의 피부가 아궁이처럼 검으니이다
[11] 대적들이 시온에서 부녀들을, 유다 각 성읍에서 처녀들을 욕보였나이다
[12] 지도자들은 그들의 손에 매달리고 장로들의 얼굴도 존경을 받지 못하나이다
[13] 청년들이 맷돌을 지며 아이들이 나무를 지다가 엎드러지오며
[14] 노인들은 다시 성문에 앉지 못하며 청년들은 다시 노래하지 못하나이다
[15] 우리의 마음에는 기쁨이 그쳤고 우리의 춤은 변하여 슬픔이 되었사오며
[16] 우리의 머리에서는 면류관이 떨어졌사오니 오호라 우리의 범죄 때문이니이다
[17] 이러므로 우리의 마음이 피곤하고 이러므로 우리 눈들이 어두우며
[18] 시온 산이 황폐하여 여우가 그 안에서 노나이다
[19] 여호와여 주는 영원히 계시오며 주의 보좌는 대대에 이르나이다
[20] 주께서 어찌하여 우리를 영원히 잊으시오며 우리를 이같이 오래 버리시나이까
[21] 여호와여 우리를 주께로 돌이키소서 그리하시면 우리가 주께로 돌아가겠사오니 우리의 날들을 다시 새롭게 하사 옛적 같게 하옵소서
