Shine Through		빛을 통과해 비췸
[ Matthew 5:13 - 5:16 ] - hymn 428 Let your light shine before others. - Matthew 5:16 A little girl wondered what a saint might be. One day her mother took her to a great cathedral to see the gorgeous stained-glass windows with scenes from the Bible. When she saw the beauty of it all she cried out loud, ¡°Now I know what saints are. They are people who let the light shine through!¡± Some of us might think that saints are people of the past who lived perfect lives and did Jesus-like miracles. But when a translation of Scripture uses the word saint, it is actually referring to anyone who belongs to God through faith in Christ. In other words, saints are people like us who have the high calling of serving God while reflecting our relationship with Him wherever we are and in whatever we do. That is why the apostle Paul prayed that the eyes and understanding of his readers would be opened to think of themselves as the treasured inheritance of Christ and saints of God (Eph.1:18). So what then do we see in the mirror? No halos or stained glass. But if we are fulfilling our calling, we will look like people who, maybe even without realizing it, are letting the rich colors of the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control of God shine through.		[ 마태복음 5:13 - 5:16 ] - 찬송가 428 장 너희 빛이 사람 앞에 비치게 하여 - 마태복음 5:16 한 어린 소녀는 성도란 어떤 사람을 말하는 것일까 궁금했습니다. 하루는 어머니가 그 아이를 대성당으로 데려가서 성경에 나오는 장면들이 그려진 화려한 스테인드글라스들을 보여주었습니다. 그 아름다운 모습을 보고 나서 소녀는 이렇게 외쳤습니다. “나는 이제 성도가 어떤 사람인지를 알아요. 그들은 그들을 통해 빛을 비춰주는 사람들이에요!” 우리는 흔히 성도란 과거에 완벽한 삶을 살면서 예수님 같이 기적을 행한 사람들이라고 생각하기 쉽습니다. 그러나 성경을 번역할 때 쓴 ‘성도’라는 단어는 실제로는 그리스도를 믿음으로써 하나님께 속해 있는 모든 사람들을 일컫습니다. 다시 말해, 성도는 하나님의 부르심을 받아 그분을 섬기며, 어디에 있든지 또 무엇을 하든지 하나님과 함께 하는 모습을 보여주는 우리 같은 사람들을 말합니다. 그래서 바울 사도는 자기 편지를 읽는 자들이 마음의 눈을 열어 그들이 스스로를 그리스도의 영광스런 상속자요, 하나님의 성도라고 여길 수 있기를 기도했던 것입니다(엡 1:18). 그러면 거울 앞에서 우리는 무엇을 봅니까? 후광이나 스테인드글라스는 보이지 않습니다. 하지만 우리가 하나님의 부르심을 따라 살면, 우리 자신도 모르는 사이에 우리를 통해 하나님의 사랑과 희락, 화평, 오래 참음, 자비, 온유, 충성, 절제의 찬란한 빛을 비추는 사람처럼 될 것입니다.

Lord, You are the light of the world. Thank You for wanting to shine that light in our lives. Cleanse me today so that I may let Your light shine through.

Saints are people through whom God¡¯s light shines.

Matthew 5:13-16

[13] "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
[14] "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
[15] "Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
[16] "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

주님, 주님은 세상의 빛이십니다. 그 빛을 우리의 삶속에 비춰주기를 원하시니 감사합니다. 오늘 저를 깨끗케 하셔서 주님의 빛이 저를 통해 비췰 수 있게 하소서.

성도란 그를 통해 하나님의 빛을 비춰주는 사람이다.

마태복음 5:13-16

[13] 너희는 세상의 소금이니 소금이 만일 그 맛을 잃으면 무엇으로 짜게 하리요 후에는 아무 쓸 데 없어 다만 밖에 버려져 사람에게 밟힐 뿐이니라
[14] 너희는 세상의 빛이라 산 위에 있는 동네가 숨겨지지 못할 것이요
[15] 사람이 등불을 켜서 말 아래에 두지 아니하고 등경 위에 두나니 이러므로 집 안 모든 사람에게 비치느니라
[16] 이같이 너희 빛이 사람 앞에 비치게 하여 그들로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라
