Quaking Aspens		사시나무
[ Philippians 4:6 - 4:9 ] - hymn 15 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. - 2 Thessalonians 3:16 While I was visiting Michigan¡¯s Upper Peninsula, two trees caught my attention. Though the leaves on the surrounding trees were not moving, the leaves of these trees were fluttering with just the slightest hint of a breeze. I pointed them out to my wife, and she told me they were called quaking aspens. I was struck by the visual effect of those shaking leaves. While all the other trees appeared calm and steady, the quaking aspen leaves shook, even with only the faintest breeze. Sometimes I feel like a quaking aspen. People around me seem to be moving through life without issues or concerns, apparently steady and secure, while even the slightest issue can unsettle my heart. I see others and marvel at their calm and wonder why my own life can so easily be filled with turbulence. Thankfully, the Scriptures remind me that genuine, steadying calm can be found in the presence of God. Paul wrote, ¡°Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all¡±(2 Thess.3:16). Not only does God offer peace, He Himself is the Lord of peace. When we enter the disturbing, unsettling seasons of life, it is good to know that real peace is available in the God of all peace. - Bill Crowder		[ 빌립보서 4:6 - 4:9 ] - 찬송가 15 장 평강의 주께서 친히 때마다 일마다 너희에게 평강을 주시고 - 데살로니가후서 3:16 미시간 주의 북쪽 반도지역을 방문했을 때 두 그루의 나무가 특별히 눈에 띄었습니다. 주위에 있는 나무들의 나뭇잎은 움직이지 않는데, 이 두 나무는 살짝 스치는 산들바람에도 잎사귀들이 흔들리고 있었습니다. 아내에게 그 광경을 보여줬더니 사시나무라고 말해주었습니다. 그 흔들리는 잎사귀들이 보여주는 시각적인 효과가 아주 인상적이었습니다. 다른 모든 나무들은 평온하고 안정되어 보이는데, 그 사시나무의 나뭇잎들은 아주 가벼운 미풍에도 흔들리고 있었기 때문입니다. 때로는 나도 사시나무와 같다는 느낌이 듭니다. 아주 사소한 문제에도 내 마음은 불안해지는데, 내 주위에 있는 사람들은 아무 문젯거리나 염려도 없이 흔들리지 않고 안정된 삶을 사는 것 같습니다. 다른 사람들의 평온함을 보며 감탄하다가, 내 삶은 왜 이리 쉽게 혼란에 빠지게 되는지 궁금해집니다. 하지만 감사하게도, 진정으로 안정된 평안은 하나님의 임재 안에서 찾을 수 있다고 성경은 말해주고 있습니다. 바울은 “평강의 주께서 친히 때마다 일마다 너희에게 평강을 주시고 주께서 너희 모든 사람과 함께 하시기를 원하노라”(살후 3:16)라고 썼습니다. 하나님은 평강을 주실 뿐만 아니라, 하나님 자신이 평강의 주님이십니다. 우리의 삶이 혼란스러워지고 불확실하게 될 때 진정한 평강은 모든 평강의 하나님 안에서 찾을 수 있음을 알아야 하겠습니다.

Prince of Peace, teach me to fi-nd in You the
calming power of Your presence. Strengthen
me today with Your peace, and grant me the
stability I need in this turmoil-filled world. Amen.

Peace is more than the absence of conflict;
peace is the presence of God.

Philippians 4:6-9

[6] Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
[7] and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
[8] Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.
[9] The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

평강의 왕이신 주님, 주님 안에서
주님의 임재가 주시는 평강의 능력을 찾게 해주소서.
오늘도 주님의 평강으로 저를 강건하게 하시고,
이 혼란한 세상에서 제게 필요한 안정을 허락해주소서. 아멘

평강은 분쟁 없는 상황 그 이상이다.
평강은 하나님의 임재하심에 있다.

빌립보서 4:6-9

[6] 아무 것도 염려하지 말고 다만 모든 일에 기도와 간구로, 너희 구할 것을 감사함으로 하나님께 아뢰라
[7] 그리하면 모든 지각에 뛰어난 하나님의 평강이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희 마음과 생각을 지키시리라
[8] 끝으로 형제들아 무엇에든지 참되며 무엇에든지 경건하며 무엇에든지 옳으며 무엇에든지 정결하며 무엇에든지 사랑 받을 만하며 무엇에든지 칭찬 받을 만하며 무슨 덕이 있든지 무슨 기림이 있든지 이것들을 생각하라
[9] 너희는 내게 배우고 받고 듣고 본 바를 행하라 그리하면 평강의 하나님이 너희와 함께 계시리라
