Charity Island		자선의 섬
[ Psalms 107:23 - 107:32 ] - hymn 70 The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him. - Nahum 1:7 Charity Island is the largest island in Saginaw Bay in the Michigan waters of Lake Huron. For many years the island has provided a lighthouse for navigational aid and a safe harbor for those sailing these waters. The island received its name because sailors believed it was there ¡°through the charity of God.¡± Sometimes in life we have to navigate through seas of troubling circumstances. Like those sailors we need guidance and a place of safety; we might wish for our own Charity Island. The psalmist understood that God is the one who can bring tranquility to troubled waters and guide us to safe harbors. He wrote, ¡°He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven¡±(Ps.107:29-30). While no one asks for the storms of life, they can multiply our appreciation for the guidance and refuge God provides. He offers the light of His Spirit and His Word to guide us. It is the safe harbor of His love that we long for. He alone can be our ultimate ¡°Charity Island.¡± - Dennis Fisher		[ 시편 107:23 - 107:32 ] - 찬송가 70 장 여호와는 선하시며 환난 날에 산성이시라 그는 자기에게 피하는 자들을 아시느니라 - 나훔 1:7 “자선의 섬”이라 불리는 섬은 미시간 주 휴런 호수의 새기노 만에 있는 섬 중 가장 큰 섬입니다. 이 섬에는 오랜 세월 동안 항로를 인도해주는 등대와 이 지역에서의 항해를 위한 안전한 항구가 있습니다. 이 섬의 이름은 선원들이 “하나님의 자선으로” 그 섬이 거기에 있다고 믿었기 때문에 붙여진 이름입니다. 살다보면 우리는 험한 바다 같은 삶을 항해해 나가야만 합니다. 그래서 그 선원들처럼 우리도 우리를 안내하며 또 안전한 장소로 인도할 우리만의 자선의 섬을 바라기도 합니다. 시편기자는 하나님이 폭풍의 바다를 잠잠하게 하시며 우리를 안전한 항구로 인도해주실 수 있다는 것을 알았습니다. 그는 이렇게 기록했습니다. “광풍을 고요하게 하사 물결도 잔잔하게 하시는도다 그들이 평온함으로 말미암아 기뻐하는 중에 여호와께서 그들이 바라는 항구로 인도하시는도다”(시 107:29-30). 험난한 삶을 원하는 사람은 아무도 없겠지만, 이런 역경 때문에 우리 모두는 하나님께서 주시는 피난처와 인도하심에 대해 크게 감사드릴 수 있습니다. 하나님은 우리를 인도하시기 위해 성령님과 말씀을 통해 빛을 비춰주십니다. 우리가 고대하는 것은 주님의 안전한 사랑의 항구입니다. 오직 주님만이 우리의 궁극적인 “자선의 섬”이 되실 수 있습니다.

Father, help me to seek Your light to guide me through the storms of life.

The living God will always be our shelter.

Psalm 107:23–32

[23] Some went out on the sea in ships; they were merchants on the mighty waters.
[24] They saw the works of the Lord, his wonderful deeds in the deep.
[25] For he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves.
[26] They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away.
[27] They reeled and staggered like drunkards; they were at their wits¡¯ end.
[28] Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress.
[29] He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea[a] were hushed.
[30] They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven.
[31] Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind.
[32] Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the council of the elders.

하나님 아버지, 험난한 세상을 지날 때 주님의 빛으로 인도해주시기를 구할 수 있게 도와주소서.

살아 계신 하나님은 언제나 우리의 피난처가 되신다.

[23] 선척을 바다에 띄우며 큰 물에서 영업하는 자는
[24] 여호와의 행사와 그 기사를 바다에서 보나니
[25] 여호와께서 명하신즉 광풍이 일어나서 바다 물결을 일으키는도다
[26] 저희가 하늘에 올랐다가 깊은 곳에 내리니 그 위험을 인하여 그 영혼이 녹는도다
[27] 저희가 이리 저리 구르며 취한 자 같이 비틀거리니 지각이 혼돈하도다
[28] 이에 저희가 그 근심 중에서 여호와께 부르짖으매 그 고통에서 인도하여 내시고
[29] 광풍을 평정히 하사 물결로 잔잔케 하시는도다
[30] 저희가 평온함을 인하여 기뻐하는 중에 여호와께서 저희를 소원의 항구로 인도하시는도다
[31] 여호와의 인자하심과 인생에게 행하신 기이한 일을 인하여 그를 찬송할지로다
[32] 백성의 회에서 저를 높이며 장로들의 자리에서 저를 찬송할지로다
