Verify the Truth		진리인가 확인하기
[ Acts 17:10 - 17:13 ] - hymn 198 [The Bereans] searched the Scriptures daily to fi-nd out whether these things were so. - Acts 17:11 ¡°A deadly jungle spider has migrated to the US and is killing people.¡± This was the story sent to me and to others on my friend¡¯s email list. The story sounded plausible—lots of scientific names and real-life situations. But when I checked it out on reliable websites, I found it was not true—it was an Internet hoax. Its truth could only be verified by consulting a trusted source. A group of first-century believers living in Macedonia understood the importance of confirming what they were hearing. The folks in Berea ¡°received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to fi-nd out whether these things were so¡± (Acts 17:11). They were listening to Paul, and wanted to make sure what he was saying lined up with the teachings of the Old Testament. Perhaps he was telling them that there was evidence in the Old Testament that the Messiah would suffer and die for sin. They needed to verify that with the source. When we hear spiritual ideas that disturb us, we need to be cautious. We can search the Scriptures for ourselves, listen to trustworthy sources, and seek wisdom from Jesus, our Lord. - Dave Branon		[ 사도행전 17:10 - 17:13 ] - 찬송가 198 장 베뢰아에 있는 사람들은…이것이 그러한가 하여 날마다 성경을 상고하므로 - 사도행전 17:11 “정글 독거미가 미국에 들어와 사람들을 죽이고 있다.” 이것은 내 친구가 나와 자신의 주소록에 있는 사람들에게 이메일로 보낸 이야기입니다. 과학 용어들과 실제 상황들이 많이 들어 있어서 그 이야기는 그럴 듯하게 들렸습니다. 그러나 믿을 만한 웹사이트에서 알아본 결과 그게 사실이 아니라 인터넷상의 장난인 것을 알게 되었습니다. 사실인지 아닌지는 신뢰할 만한 출처를 참고함으로써만 증명될 수 있습니다. 1세기의 마케도니아에 살고 있던 신자들은 자신들이 듣고 있는 것을 확인하는 것이 중요하다는 사실을 알고 있었습니다. 베뢰아에 있는 사람들은 “간절한 마음으로 말씀을 받고 이것이 그러한가 하여 날마다 성경을 상고하였습니다”(행 17:11). 그들은 바울의 말을 들으면서 그가 말하는 것이 구약의 가르침과 일치하는가를 확인하고 싶어 했습니다. 메시아가 죄를 위해 고통 받고 죽을 것이라는 증거가 구약에 있다고 아마도 바울이 그들에게 말한 것 같습니다. 그들은 성경에서 그것을 확인할 필요가 있었습니다. 우리를 혼란시키는 영적 개념들을 들을 때 우리는 주의를 기울여야 합니다. 스스로 성경을 찾아보거나, 믿을 만한 출처를 통해 알아보고, 우리 주 예수님으로부터 지혜를 구해야 합니다.

Please give us discernment, Lord, to accept only truth that is rooted in Your Word. We praise You for preserving the inspired Scriptures for us—now help us to use them to seek You.

God¡¯s truth stands any test.

Acts 17:10-13

[10] Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews.
[11] These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.
[12] Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men.
[13] But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came there also and stirred up the crowds.

주님, 우리에게 영적분별력을 주셔서 주님의 말씀에 뿌리박은 진리만 받아들일 수 있게 하소서. 우리를 위해 영감에 찬 성경말씀을 보존해주신 주님을 찬양합니다. 이제 그 말씀으로 주님을 찾을 수 있도록 우리를 도와주소서.

하나님의 진리는 어떤 시험도 견뎌낸다.

사도행전 17:10-13

[10] 밤에 형제들이 곧 바울과 실라를 베뢰아로 보내니 그들이 이르러 유대인의 회당에 들어가니라
[11] 베뢰아에 있는 사람들은 데살로니가에 있는 사람들보다 더 너그러워서 간절한 마음으로 말씀을 받고 이것이 그러한가 하여 날마다 성경을 상고하므로
[12] 그 중에 믿는 사람이 많고 또 헬라의 귀부인과 남자가 적지 아니하나
[13] 데살로니가에 있는 유대인들은 바울이 하나님의 말씀을 베뢰아에서도 전하는 줄을 알고 거기도 가서 무리를 움직여 소동하게 하거늘
