[ 1 Corinthians 9:19 - 9:27 ] - hymn 484 I run with purpose in every step. - 1 Corinthians 9:26 nlt A rolling-ball clock in the British Museum struck me as a vivid illustration of the deadening effects of routine. A small steel ball traveled in grooves across a tilted steel plate until it tripped a lever on the other side. This tilted the plate back in the opposite direction, reversed the direction of the ball and advanced the clock hands. Every year, the steel ball traveled some 2,500 miles back and forth, but never really went anywhere. It¡¯s easy for us to feel trapped by our daily routine when we can¡¯t see a larger purpose. The apostle Paul longed to be effective in making the gospel of Christ known. ¡°I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air¡±(1 Cor.9:26 NIV). Anything can become monotonous—traveling, preaching, teaching, and especially being confined in prison. Yet Paul believed he could serve Christ his Lord in every situation. Routine becomes lethal when we can¡¯t see a purpose in it. Paul¡¯s vision reached beyond any limiting circumstance because he was in the race of faith to keep going until he crossed the finish line. By including Jesus in every aspect of his life, Paul found meaning even in the routine of life. And so can we. - David McCasland		[ 고린도전서 9:19 - 9:27 ] - 찬송가 484 장 나는 달음질하기를 향방 없는 것 같이 아니하고 - 고린도전서 9:26 대영박물관에 있는 구르는 공 시계는 반복되는 판에 박힌 일에는 돌파구가 없다는 예를 아주 생생하게 보여줍니다. 작은 금속공 하나가 반대편에 있는 지렛대에 걸릴 때까지 파여진 홈을 통해 경사진 강철판을 가로질러 갑니다. 그러면 강철판의 경사가 반대방향으로 기울어지면서 금속공의 방향이 뒤바뀌면서 시계바늘이 앞으로 나아갑니다. 매년 이 금속공은 약 4,000킬로미터를 왔다 갔다 움직이지만 실제로는 어느 곳도 가지 않습니다. 우리가 더 큰 목적을 바라보지 못할 때 우리는 매일의 일과 속에 갇혀있다고 느끼기 쉽습니다. 바울사도는 그리스도의 복음을 효과적으로 전할 수 있기를 갈망했습니다. “나는 달음질하기를 향방 없는 것 같이 아니하고 싸우기를 허공을 치는 것 같이 아니하며”(고전 9:26). 전도여행이나 설교, 가르침, 특히 감옥에 갇히는 것까지, 어떤 일이든 단조롭게 느껴질 수 있습니다. 그러나 바울은 어떤 상황에서도 그의 주님이신 예수님을 섬길 수 있다고 믿었습니다. 반복되는 일과는 우리가 그 속에 있는 목적을 보지 못하면 치명적일 수 있습니다. 바울은 결승점을 지날 때까지 믿음의 경주를 계속했기 때문에, 어떤 한계에 부딪혔을 때에도 그것을 넘어 멀리 바라볼 수 있었습니다. 삶의 모든 영역에 예수님을 포함시킴으로써 바울은 평범한 일상생활에서조차 의미를 찾았습니다. 그리고 우리도 그렇게 할 수 있습니다.

Lord, give us renewed vision and energy to pursue the goal of making Christ known in the midst of our daily routine.

Jesus can transform our routine into meaningful service for Him.

1 Corinthians 9:19-27

[19] For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more;
[20] and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law;
[21] to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law;
[22] to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
[23] Now this I do for the gospel's sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.
[24] Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
[25] And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
[26] Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.
[27] But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

주님, 나날의 일상 속에서 그리스도를 알리기 위한 목적을 이루는 데 필요한 에너지와 새로운 비전을 허락하소서.

예수님은 우리의 일상을 그를 위한 의미 있는 섬김으로 바꾸실 수 있다.

고린도전서 9:19-27

[19] 내가 모든 사람에게서 자유로우나 스스로 모든 사람에게 종이 된 것은 더 많은 사람을 얻고자 함이라
[20] 유대인들에게 내가 유대인과 같이 된 것은 유대인들을 얻고자 함이요 율법 아래에 있는 자들에게는 내가 율법 아래에 있지 아니하나 율법 아래에 있는 자 같이 된 것은 율법 아래에 있는 자들을 얻고자 함이요
[21] 율법 없는 자에게는 내가 하나님께는 율법 없는 자가 아니요 도리어 그리스도의 율법 아래에 있는 자이나 율법 없는 자와 같이 된 것은 율법 없는 자들을 얻고자 함이라
[22] 약한 자들에게 내가 약한 자와 같이 된 것은 약한 자들을 얻고자 함이요 내가 여러 사람에게 여러 모습이 된 것은 아무쪼록 몇 사람이라도 구원하고자 함이니
[23] 내가 복음을 위하여 모든 것을 행함은 복음에 참여하고자 함이라
[24] 운동장에서 달음질하는 자들이 다 달릴지라도 오직 상을 받는 사람은 한 사람인 줄을 너희가 알지 못하느냐 너희도 상을 받도록 이와 같이 달음질하라
[25] 이기기를 다투는 자마다 모든 일에 절제하나니 그들은 썩을 승리자의 관을 얻고자 하되 우리는 썩지 아니할 것을 얻고자 하노라
[26] 그러므로 나는 달음질하기를 향방 없는 것 같이 아니하고 싸우기를 허공을 치는 것 같이 아니하며
[27] 내가 내 몸을 쳐 복종하게 함은 내가 남에게 전파한 후에 자신이 도리어 버림을 당할까 두려워함이로다
