Calming The Storm		폭풍을 잠재우다
[ Mark 4:35 - 4:41 ] - hymn 336 He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ¡°Peace, be still!¡± And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. — Mark 4:39 While Hurricane Katrina headed toward the coast of Mississippi, a retired pastor and his wife left their home and went to a shelter. Their daughter pleaded with them to go to Atlanta where she could take care of them, but the couple couldn¡¯t get any money to make the trip because the banks were closed. After the storm had passed, they returned to their home to get a few belongings, and were able to salvage only a few family photos floating in the water. Then, when the man was taking his father¡¯s photo out of its frame so it could dry, $366 fell out—precisely the amount needed for two plane tickets to Atlanta. They learned they could trust Jesus for what they needed. For the disciples, trusting Jesus in a storm was the curriculum for the day in the dramatic narrative of Mark 4:35-41. Jesus had instructed His disciples to cross to the other side of the Sea of Galilee and then He went to sleep in the boat. When a quick and violent storm blew in, the disciples dripped as much with fear and anxiety as water from the waves. They woke Jesus, saying, ¡°Teacher, don¡¯t you care if we drown?¡±(v.38 niv). Jesus stood up and with three words, ¡°Peace, be still!¡± He muzzled the storm. We all experience storms—persecutions, financial troubles, illnesses, disappointments, loneliness—and Jesus does not always prevent them. But He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us (Heb.13:5). He will keep us calm in the storm. — Marvin Williams		[ 마가복음 4:35 - 4:41 ] - 찬송가 336 장 예수께서 깨어 바람을 꾸짖으시며 바다더러 이르시되 잠잠하라 고요하라 하시니 바람이 그치고 아주 잔잔하여지더라 — 마가복음 4:39 허리케인 카트리나가 미시시피 해안으로 다가오는 동안, 은퇴한 목사 부부가 집을 떠나 피신처로 갔습니다. 딸이 부모를 모시겠다고 애틀랜타로 오라고 간곡히 말했지만, 그들 부부는 은행들이 문을 닫아 여비를 마련할 수가 없었습니다. 폭풍이 지나간 후, 부부는 집으로 돌아와 살림살이를 챙겨보았지만, 물위에 떠다니는 가족사진 몇 장만 건질 수 있었습니다. 목사가 아버지의 사진을 말리려고 액자에서 꺼내는데 거기서 366달러가 떨어져 나왔습니다. 이 액수는 애틀랜타로 가는 비행기 표 2장을 사는데 필요한 액수와 정확히 맞아 떨어졌습니다. 그들은 그들에게 필요한 것을 얻기 위해서는 예수님을 믿으면 된다는 것을 배웠습니다. 제자들에게 있어, 마가복음 4:35-41에 극적으로 묘사되어 있는 그날의 가르침은 폭풍 중에 예수님을 신뢰하는 것이었습니다. 예수님은 제자들에게 갈릴리 바다를 건너가라고 지시하시고는 배 안에서 주무셨습니다. 사나운 광풍이 갑자기 불어 닥쳤을 때, 제자들은 파도치는 물에 젖는 만큼 공포와 불안에 잠겨들었습니다. 그들은 예수님을 깨우며 “선생님이여 우리가 죽게 된 것을 돌보지 아니하시나이까”라고 하였습니다. 예수님은 일어나셔서 “잠잠하라 고요하라”(38절)라고 말씀하시며 폭풍을 잠재우셨습니다. 우리 모두는 박해나 재정적인 어려움, 질병, 실망, 외로움 같은 폭풍을 만납니다. 그리고 예수님이 이런 폭풍이 항상 일어나지 않게 해주시는 것은 아닙니다. 하지만 예수님은 결코 우리를 떠나지도, 버리지도 않으실 것이라고 약속해주셨습니다(히 13:5). 주님은 폭풍 가운데에서도 우리를 평온하게 지켜주실 것입니다.

Mark 4:35-41

[35] On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side."
[36] Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.
[37] And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.
[38] But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?"
[39] Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
[40] But He said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?"
[41] And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, "Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!"

[40] 이에 제자들에게 이르시되 어찌하여 이렇게 무서워하느냐 너희가 어찌 믿음이 없느냐 하시니
[41] 그들이 심히 두려워하여 서로 말하되 그가 누구이기에 바람과 바다도 순종하는가 하였더라
