A Survivor¡¯s Thoughts		살아남은 자의 고뇌
[ Romans 9:1 - 9:5 ] - hymn 438 I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren. — Romans 9:3 After a 71-year-old South Korean woman was rescued during the tragic sinking of a ferry boat, she struggled with survivor¡¯s guilt. From her hospital bed she said she couldn¡¯t understand how it could be right for her to have lived through an accident that had taken the lives of many who were so much younger. She also regretted not knowing the name of the young man who had pulled her out of the water after she had given up hope. Then she added, ¡°I want to buy him a meal at least, or hold his hand, or give him a hug.¡± This woman¡¯s heart for others reminds me of the apostle Paul. He was so concerned about his neighbors and countrymen that he said he wished he could trade his own relationship with Christ for their rescue: ¡°I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren¡±(Rom.9:2-3). Paul also expressed a deep sense of personal gratitude. He knew he didn¡¯t understand the ways and judgments of God (see vv.14-24). So while doing everything he could to proclaim the gospel to all, he found peace and joy in trusting the heart of a God who loves the whole world so much more than we ever could. — Mart DeHaan		[ 로마서 9:1 - 9:5 ] - 찬송가 438 장 나의 형제 곧 골육의 친척을 위하여 내 자신이 저주를 받아 그리스도에게서 끊어질지라도 원하는 바로라 — 로마서 9:3 71세의 한 한국 여성이 비극적인 선박침몰사고에서 구출된 이후, 생존자들이 겪는 죄책감으로 고통을 겪었습니다. 그녀는 많은 어린 생명을 앗아간 그 사고에서 자신이 살아남은 것이 옳은 일인지 도저히 이해할 수 없다고 병상에서 말했습니다. 또한 자신이 물에 빠져 희망을 포기했을 때 물에서 건져준 청년의 이름을 모르는 것에 대해서도 안타까워했습니다. 그리고 “그 사람에게 식사라도 대접하고 싶어요. 아니면 손이라도 잡든지 한번 안아주고 싶어요.”라고 말했습니다. 다른 이들을 생각하는 이 여성의 마음은 내게 바울사도를 떠올리게 합니다. 바울사도는 그의 이웃과 동족을 너무 사랑해서 그들의 구원을 위해서라면 자신과 예수님과의 관계를 맞바꿀 수도 있다고 말했습니다. “나에게 큰 근심이 있는 것과 마음에 그치지 않는 고통이 있는 것을 내 양심이 성령 안에서 나와 더불어 증언하노니 나의 형제 곧 골육의 친척을 위하여 내 자신이 저주를 받아 그리스도에게서 끊어질지라도 원하는 바로라”(롬 9:1-3). 또한 바울은 깊은 개인적인 감사의 마음을 표현했습니다. 그는 하나님의 방식과 판단을 자신이 다 이해할 수 없다는 것을 알고(14-24절), 모든 이들에게 복음을 선포하는 일에 최선을 다하면서 이 세상을 그 누구보다 사랑하시는 하나님의 마음을 신뢰함으로써 평안과 기쁨을 찾았습니다.

Lord God, Your ways are so far beyond our comprehension, yet we know without doubt that You love us. Help us trust Your loving heart with the things we don¡¯t understand.

Gratitude to God leads to growth in godliness.

Romans 9:1-5

[1] I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit,
[2] that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart.
[3] For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh,
[4] who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises;
[5] of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.

주 하나님, 하나님의 방법은 우리의 이해 범주를 초월하지만,
하나님이 우리를 사랑하신다는 것은 의심의 여지없이 잘 압니다.
우리가 이해하지 못하는 것에 있어서도
하나님의 사랑의 마음을 신뢰할 수 있도록 도와주소서.

하나님을 향한 감사는 우리의 신앙을 자라게 해준다.

로마서 9:1-5

[1] 내가 그리스도 안에서 참말을 하고 거짓말을 아니하노라 나에게 큰 근심이 있는 것과 마음에 그치지 않는 고통이 있는 것을 내 양심이 성령 안에서 나와 더불어 증언하노니
