[ Titus 3:1 - 3:8 ] - hymn 552 Remind the believers to ... show true humility to everyone. — Titus 3:1–2 nlt In a typical week, many of us receive a number of emails reminding us of appointments or upcoming events or requests to pray for someone. All of them are needed reminders. When Paul wrote his ¡°papyrus mail¡± to Titus, he ended his note by saying, ¡°Remind the believers ...¡±(3:1 nlt). We can assume from Paul¡¯s word choice that he had already written about these things. But they were of such importance to the people in the church that he repeated them so they wouldn¡¯t forget. Notice what Paul didn¡¯t want them to miss. He reminded the people— living under the oppressive Roman rule—¡°to be subject to rulers and authorities¡±(v.1). It was important to be known for obedience; for doing what is good; for not slandering; for being peaceful and considerate; and for humility rather than for complaining. Their behavior was to showcase the change made in their lives by following Christ (vv.3-5). How could they—and we—do that? ¡°The Holy Spirit whom He poured out on us ... through Jesus Christ¡± enables us to ¡°devote [ourselves] to doing what is good¡±(vv.5-6,8 niv). It is through Jesus¡¯ great gift of salvation that we are equipped to influence our world for good. Lord, remind us how important it is that we obey You and treat others the way we want to be treated. Remind us that Your salvation enables us to live as lights in a dark world.

A Christian¡¯s life is a window through which others can see Jesus.

Titus 3:1-8

[1] Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work,
[2] to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.
[3] For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
[4] But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
[5] not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
[6] whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
[7] that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
[8] This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

주님, 우리가 주님을 순종하는 것과 우리가 대접받기 원하는 것처럼
남을 대접하는 것이 얼마나 중요한지를 일깨워주소서.
주님이 구원해주심으로 우리가 이 어두운 세상에서
빛으로 살아갈 수 있음을 기억하게 해주소서.

그리스도인의 삶은 다른 사람들이 예수님을 볼 수 있는 창문이다.

디도서 3:1-8

[1] 너는 그들로 하여금 통치자들과 권세 잡은 자들에게 복종하며 순종하며 모든 선한 일 행하기를 준비하게 하며
[2] 아무도 비방하지 말며 다투지 말며 관용하며 범사에 온유함을 모든 사람에게 나타낼 것을 기억하게 하라
[3] 우리도 전에는 어리석은 자요 순종하지 아니한 자요 속은 자요 여러 가지 정욕과 행락에 종 노릇 한 자요 악독과 투기를 일삼은 자요 가증스러운 자요 피차 미워한 자였으나
[4] 우리 구주 하나님의 자비와 사람 사랑하심이 나타날 때에
[5] 우리를 구원하시되 우리가 행한 바 의로운 행위로 말미암지 아니하고 오직 그의 긍휼하심을 따라 중생의 씻음과 성령의 새롭게 하심으로 하셨나니
[6] 우리 구주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 우리에게 그 성령을 풍성히 부어 주사
[7] 우리로 그의 은혜를 힘입어 의롭다 하심을 얻어 영생의 소망을 따라 상속자가 되게 하려 하심이라
[8] 이 말이 미쁘도다 원하건대 너는 이 여러 것에 대하여 굳세게 말하라 이는 하나님을 믿는 자들로 하여금 조심하여 선한 일을 힘쓰게 하려 함이라 이것은 아름다우며 사람들에게 유익하니라
