In Every Generation		모든 세대에
[ Psalms 100:1 - 100:5 ] - hymn 393 The Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations. — Psalm 100:5 It may seem surprising when children don¡¯t follow their parents¡¯ example of faith in God. Equally unexpected is a person with a deep commitment to Christ who emerges from a family where faith was not present. In every generation, each person has a choice. Samuel was a great man of God who appointed his two sons, Joel and Abijah, as leaders over Israel (1 Sam.8:1-2). Unlike their father, however, they were corrupt and ¡°turned aside after dishonest gain, took bribes, and perverted justice¡±(v.3). Yet, years later, we find Heman, Joel¡¯s son, appointed as a musician in the house of the Lord (1 Chron. 6:31-33). Heman, Samuel¡¯s grandson—along with Asaph, his right-hand man and the author of many of the psalms—served the Lord by singing joyful songs (15:16-17). Even though a person seems indifferent toward the faith so precious to his or her parents, God is still at work. Things can change in later years, and seeds of faith may spring to life in generations to come. No matter what the family situation may be, we know that ¡°the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.¡±		[ 시편 100:1 - 100:5 ] - 찬송가 393 장 여호와는 선하시니 그의 인자하심이 영원하고 그의 성실하심이 대대에 이르리로다—시편 100:5 자녀들이 부모의 믿음을 본받지 않을 때 놀랍게 보일 수도 있습니다. 마찬가지로, 믿지 않는 가정에서 자란 사람이 그리스도께 온전히 헌신한 사람이 되는 것도 의외의 일이기도 합니다. 모든 세대에 있어서 개인은 각자 선택권이 있습니다. 하나님의 큰 종 사무엘은 자기의 두 아들, 요엘과 아비야를 이스라엘의 지도자로 임명했습니다(삼상 8:1-2). 그러나 그들은 아버지와 달리 부패하여 “아버지의 길을 따라 살지 않고, 돈벌이에만 정신이 팔려 뇌물을 받고서 치우치게 재판을 하였습니다”(3절, 새번역). 그러나 세월이 흘러 요엘의 아들 헤만이 여호와의 집에서 찬송하는 사람으로 임명받은 것을 볼 수 있습니다(대상 6:31-33). 사무엘의 손자인 헤만은 자기의 오른팔과 같은 시편 작가 아삽과 더불어 즐거운 찬양으로 하나님을 섬겼습니다(대상 15:16-17). 부모에게는 너무나 소중한 믿음이지만, 그 믿음에 무관심한 사람에게조차도 하나님은 계속해서 역사하십니다. 세월이 지나면서 세상은 변하여도, 믿음의 씨앗들은 오는 세대 속에서 생명을 발아시킬 수 있습니다. 가정의 상황이 아무리 어떻다 해도, 우리는 “여호와는 선하시니 그의 인자하심이 영원하고 그의 성실하심이 대대에 이르리로다”라는 사실을 압니다.

Dear Lord, help me to remember that You are the one who causes the seed of faith to grow. We give our loved ones into Your care, knowing that the end of the story has not yet been written.

God¡¯s faithfulness extends to all generations.

Psalm 100:1-5

[1] A Psalm of Thanksgiving. Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!
[2] Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.
[3] Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
[4] Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
[5] For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.

사랑하는 주님, 믿음의 씨를 자라게 하시는 이가
주님이라는 것을 기억하게 해주소서.
우리의 이야기가 아직 끝나지 않았음을 알고
사랑하는 이들을 주님의 손에 맡길 수 있게 하소서.

하나님의 신실하심은 모든 세대에까지 이어져 있다.
