[ Romans 12:1 - 12:8 ] - hymn 216 Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. — Romans 12:1 During his only inaugural address as the US President, John F. Kennedy issued this challenge to Americans: ¡°Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.¡± It was a renewed call for citizens to surrender their lives in sacrifice and service to others. His words especially inspired the sons and daughters of men and women who had served their country in war. His meaning was clear: What their parents purchased, often with their very lives, must now be protected by peaceful means. An army of volunteers arose to answer that call, and through the decades they have accomplished an immeasurable amount of humanitarian work around the globe. Centuries earlier, the apostle Paul issued a similar call to Christians in the opening verses of Romans 12. Here he urges us to give our bodies as ¡°living sacrifices¡± in service to the One who paid with His life for our sins. This spiritual sacrifice must be more than mere words; it must be an investment of our lives in the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of others. Father, show me this day the many ways my life can be surrendered to You, and then give me the strength to begin to act.

Don¡¯t always ask Jesus what He can do for you; ask Jesus what you can do for Him.

Romans 12:1-8

[1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
[2] And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
[3] For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
[4] For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function,
[5] so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
[6] Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;
[7] or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching;
[8] he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

하나님 아버지,
제 삶을 하나님께 드릴 수 있는 여러 방법들을
오늘 제게 보여주소서.
그리고 그것을 실천할 수 있는 능력을 주시옵소서.

주님이 당신을 위해 무엇을 해주실 수 있는지 항상 묻지 말고,
당신이 주님을 위해 무엇을 할 수 있는지 물어보라.

로마서 12:1-8

[1] 그러므로 형제들아 내가 하나님의 모든 자비하심으로 너희를 권하노니 너희 몸을 하나님이 기뻐하시는 거룩한 산 제물로 드리라 이는 너희가 드릴 영적 예배니라
[2] 너희는 이 세대를 본받지 말고 오직 마음을 새롭게 함으로 변화를 받아 하나님의 선하시고 기뻐하시고 온전하신 뜻이 무엇인지 분별하도록 하라
[3] 내게 주신 은혜로 말미암아 너희 각 사람에게 말하노니 마땅히 생각할 그 이상의 생각을 품지 말고 오직 하나님께서 각 사람에게 나누어 주신 믿음의 분량대로 지혜롭게 생각하라
[4] 우리가 한 몸에 많은 지체를 가졌으나 모든 지체가 같은 기능을 가진 것이 아니니
[5] 이와 같이 우리 많은 사람이 그리스도 안에서 한 몸이 되어 서로 지체가 되었느니라
[6] 우리에게 주신 은혜대로 받은 은사가 각각 다르니 혹 예언이면 믿음의 분수대로,
[7] 혹 섬기는 일이면 섬기는 일로, 혹 가르치는 자면 가르치는 일로,
[8] 혹 위로하는 자면 위로하는 일로, 구제하는 자는 성실함으로, 다스리는 자는 부지런함으로, 긍휼을 베푸는 자는 즐거움으로 할 것이니라
